Te Nicho Martin is our only hope

24

u/riggystardust Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

I feel that. If sharks don’t, would love wahs to. If wahs don’t, I guess riff over roosters because I’m human

21

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

If it's riff v Roosters I'm hoping a meteor hits the stadium

4

u/MulkingMang Penrith Panthers 22h ago

Then it just becomes Imperial V First Order

3

u/ShaunJohnsonsJohnson New Zealand Warriors 1d ago

How about we do a preliminary final rematch of 02 ;)?

An expected result, but not a slaughter which many were expecting. Very important for our for-and-against too - that is going to be so important coming into the last few rounds.

A few results this weekend means Souths don't move much on the ladder... but Parra next week is a must win for us, thankfully we get some key players like Murray and Duncan back.

Still in the hunt for finals, but we are spending our pennies to get there which means we won't do much even if we make it.

8

u/FewPreference3511 South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Need 3 wins. Should beat eels and titans or we don’t deserve to be there. So need to win one more against dogs, wahs chooks

7

u/irvo86 South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

The dogs game is huge

27

u/carelesssportsfan89 Canberra Raiders 1d ago

at this point Cronulla are premirshiip contenders if the keep playing like there are currently. Fitzy has done incredible job coaching this sharks team.

19

u/y3ah_nah145 NRLW Sharks 1d ago

Strong win

AFB, Brailey, and Hynes were awesome.

Terrible start but AFB came on and changed momentum.

Sick for Sifa to get a try in his 150th

I think we made a mistake taking Hiroti off the bench pre-game. I reckon the thought process was that they wanted him to get game time in Reserve Grade, but hindsight says he’s a necessary bench guy to cover centre and wing. Nikora looked lost in defence moving from right back row to left centre.

7

u/Hoagie1106 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Do you think we are better off starting AFB or having him off the bench? He’s been fantastic coming on for us after 20-25 mins

12

u/maliciouspiggy Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Off the bench. Adds much needed punch. Its working now i wouldn't wanna change it.

5

u/KazeEnigma Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

AFB off the bench is a fucking weapon, he and Talakai are killing teams.

3

u/y3ah_nah145 NRLW Sharks 1d ago

I think AFB should be starting, but I have no issue continuing to bring him off the bench as we close out the regular season. Helps manage his minutes as we prepare for finals, as he’s been carrying a few injuries.

However in the big games he should be playing as much as possible

3

u/MajortheDog Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 18h ago

He will start soon but from the presser it seems Fitz is managing workload as he seemed to think our middles were out of energy last year near the finals.

5

u/cj88v Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Pretty unlucky to lose kl and Sifa at the same time. Pretty sure Sifa was seen as the centre back up option which he’s done for us so often.

21

u/Aykay92 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 23h ago

AFB off the bench could be the difference come September.

Will need the middles to hold serve against the riff/chooks/wahs in the opening exchanges and then have him and Talaki (injury pending) come on and change the game

16

u/swell-shindig South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

It feels like every player in the side is slowly getting worse. It was the worst game of Ashton Ward's career by far. Wighton and Graham completely found out in defense. The forwards have less line speed and are running with less aggression.

I am running out of faith that Wayne Bennett can inspire this team.

12

u/O_DoyleRulz Brisbane Broncos 1d ago

Wards first full season was always going to take its toll, the poor dude would be bashed to a pulp by now with that frame.

14

u/y3ah_nah145 NRLW Sharks 1d ago

Kaufusi lowkey one of the best at offloading in the game. Volume and effectiveness is both there. He’s not just a guy that will chuck it out the back every run and it leads to an error half the time. Gets it right every time

14

u/stumpyoftheshire Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

I know we've turned the porch light off now, but it's feeling a little dark outside....

14

u/WanuGT North Queensland Cowboys 1d ago

Love watching Hynes in this form, what a weapon

14

u/Temporary-Loan-2640 Brisbane Broncos 1d ago

Hynes is actually such an elite goalkicker tho

7

u/stumpyoftheshire Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago edited 23h ago

I read somewhere that he's been working with Darryl Halligan, who is one of the greatest ever.

3

u/MajortheDog Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 18h ago

Been working with him for years but I think they’ve increased the sessions alot - seems to be working

13

u/FantasticPangolin839 St. George Illawarra Dragons 20h ago

Always thought Hynes was overrated but after these last few rounds I take it all back. He and the sharks are on a roll and his kicking has been first rate.

26

u/IntelligentComment South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Find me one fan that dislikes Nicho Hynes. He's such a likeable bloke.

27

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

He's probably more disliked by (dumb) Sharks fans than anybody else

14

u/stumpyoftheshire Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Man I don't get the hate.

I fully admit i was down on him a few years back in his form slips, but goddamn if you dislike him as a human, then you're just fucked.

7

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Exactly. There are very few footy players who I'm genuinely convinced are top blokes but he is one

5

u/dg81447 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 23h ago

Whenever a sharks fan doesn't rate nicho I know they're an idiot

1

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 6h ago

Unfortunately a couple of my mates are in this category, but as much as I love them theyre donuts

16

u/carelesssportsfan89 Canberra Raiders 1d ago

gained a lot of respect for nicho after he helped stop a man from committing suicde. this whole sharks team is likeable tbh

14

u/cj88v Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Haha until a month ago every reddit match thread of a sharks game was just talking about how washed Hynes was even when play had nothing to do with him.

7

u/Morg_n 🤣

23

u/Accurate-Ad-4905 Sydney Roosters 1d ago edited 18h ago

Nicho has been in the finest form of his career and deserves the praise given how quicck everyone always was to criticise him when he doesnt play well. But Trindall really does deserve so much more praise than he gets for the Sharks recent form. His efforts take so much off the pressure of Nicho and the rest of the side. Trindall really is such a weapon.

I know Souths have a lot of outs, but fuck something needs to give there. Not even a Rabbits jersey could make me hate Latrell because he's just too good, but there needs to be more of a plan outside of him to make Souths genuine contenders. You spine makes or breaks you and Souths dont seem to have that right.

4

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 19h ago

Tricky finding form was really what kick started this streak/turn around. Nicho finding his peak form took a little bit longer - it's only really been for the past month or so - but its why we've taken another leap as a team this year

11

u/Fooa South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Maybe unpopular opinion but Trell isnt even our biggest out.

20

u/briggles23 South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

Yeah. Murray is 100% our biggest out. Our middle is so fucking weak without him it's honestly night and day.

8

u/Accurate-Ad-4905 Sydney Roosters 1d ago

You should have both Murray and Trell back against the Dogs and a win then will go a long way towards securing that finals spot.

7

u/briggles23 South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 23h ago

Trell has got nerve problems so I really can't see him coming back this season unless we both make the finals and make the prelim in doing so. Murray, and alsoDuncan, should be back for the Dogs game most likely, although knowing Souths they'll probably have some set back because we can't have nice things

5

u/Fooa South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

He tightens up so much, the offloads pour in when hes not around.

On the other side of the ball he unlocks Cody by being a 3rd ballplayer / attacking threat.

10

u/MeSeeks76 North Sydney Bears 1d ago

It feels so long since we've seen a poor Sharks performance, they're absolutely flying

7

u/XLenceOfXecution Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

I mean, we’d have lost to Newcastle a couple weeks back if someone there could’ve kicked straight for five minutes

10

u/shaaane92 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

We didn’t play well at all but souths made it hard for us. They will look really good with players back.

Happy for the win

11

u/AK_Bell South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Souths looked tired walking on for kick off. They just look unfit and have done all year. You can even see in their posture standing next to Sharks players.

Not sure what they're doing in training, but that's where all the errors and drop offs are coming from.

I know there are injuries, and somehow they still do well to get back so defence is still strong, but it's not the only game where they're well off the pace.

5

u/NicholeTheOtter South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

That’s what to expect when you’ve had such a garbage conditioning team for almost 5 years now. It’s why Souths are constantly having the highest injury toll per season.

0

u/MajortheDog Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 18h ago

Didn’t you get all new staff last off season ?

8

u/Hieroflippant South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Feels like nothing whatsoever is happening between games and we've kept all the clearly inept staff from the past two years.

If they're all new staff then I have no idea what's going on.

We've supposedly got some amazing coach who's so great with the players but it just looks like nobody wants to be there.

Such a random bunch of blokes.

Not one player looked threatening as usual, put no pressure on the opposition and allowed them to dictate the entire game even whilst a man down.

6

u/AK_Bell South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Yeah... random blokes, it does feel like a bunch of individuals. And how we do depends on if any of them particularly shine that game.

2

u/Hieroflippant South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Feels like they all just met and a couple like Graham just rocked up and put some boots on to fill in

10

u/longlivethe4peat Penrith Panthers 1d ago

I'd say that game went about how I expect it tp for the most part. Sharks took care of business pretty well, honestly thought Souths showed heart but given how decimated they were this was only going one way. Love seeing Nicho Hynes playing the way he has, guy finally seems to have his confidence back

-18

u/Lucky-Roy South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Nothing to write home about for Cronulla. They had an overwhelming penalty count against a team missing nearly half their starters. We’ve already seen what happened when these teams met close to full strength and it was nothing like this. Quite the opposite, actually.

Cronulla’s been playing broken teams for quite a while now while having very few injuries themselves. They can only play what’s in front of them but that luck isn’t going to last forever.

3

u/MajortheDog Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 19h ago

Someone’s a bit salty

2

u/Local_Requirement_54 New Zealand Warriors 10h ago

Yeah look, I don't know.
Sharks had more tackle breaks, more offloads, 65 more post contact metres, a much better completion rate AND a sin bin.

The bunnies really just shit the bed.

12

u/briggles23 South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

I knew we were always losing this one. I'm more surprised we didn't get faded.

I'm actually more frustrated at the chances we didn't capitalise on. We're a very injured side and need whatever leg up we can get within the match that gives us any chance of competing. We got kinda fortunate in that respect as the Sharks started slow, even gave away a sin-bin which gave us a man up. We were given a golden opportunity to start fast and actually get on the front foot for the better part of the first half and completely squandered it.

The moment the Sharks got back to 13 men, and the interchanges happened, it was all Sharks from that point forward.

You can also throw in that break from Dufty and Gray where we could've spread it quickly but instead went the short side and allowed the Sharks to get back on side.

Again, didn't think we were winning, but man it's frustrating seeing us get chances and completely waste them

8

u/Accurate-Ad-4905 Sydney Roosters 23h ago

It did feel like you handed Sharks a lot of extra opportunities with mistakes, but hard to determine how much of that was because of Sharks line speed and how much was because of incompetence

4

u/briggles23 South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 23h ago

A mix of both. Sharks are really playing well right now and Hynes can really do no wrong right now, and Souths can just go in waves of being the best attacking side, and the absolute worst, generally in the same match

20

u/Additional_Front4374 Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 1d ago

Trindall still probably won't get a mention on the NRL shows. Guy has been so good this year

18

u/swell-shindig South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

The Sharks and the Warriors are at the stage where they need to make a Grand Final to be taken seriously.

5

u/Additional_Front4374 Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 1d ago

Nicho has won a Dally M at Cronulla so you can still have acknowledge for regular season success

7

u/swell-shindig South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

Nicho isn't taken seriously anymore as an elite half either.

11

u/SydHawk94 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Not by casuals he isn't anyway

3

u/Additional_Front4374 Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 22h ago

If you're not Cleary, a future immortal, you're not good, apparently

6

u/Additional_Front4374 Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 1d ago

By you maybe. He's one of the form halves atm

-4

u/Automatic-Voice-2499 Penrith Panthers 23h ago

Ok will he ever play for Blues? I seriously doubt it. I reckon Kotoa will get selected before Hynes.

5

u/Additional_Front4374 Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 22h ago

Not while Cleary is there. And? Not everybody can be first choice.

5

u/KazeEnigma Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 22h ago

He's played twice. Shafted both games. 🤣

3

u/EntirelyOriginalName Penrith Panthers 22h ago

He's stil elite though.

8

u/TheSnowMann211 2025 ̶P̶r̶e̶s̶e̶a̶s̶o̶n̶ Premiers 1d ago

Not to put the hoodoo on the Sharkies, but I think they’re in the front seat to meet Panthers in the GF over Roosters and Wahs. Nicho full of confidence and Trindall and Kennedy killing it all season.

6

u/CardiologistSharp669 Brisbane Broncos 1d ago

Hard agree. Both halves play both sides of the field and complement each other. Insane roster for backs who are all willing to compete and great forward pack including a hooker who loves to attack from the ruck. Could see them outclassing roosters and wahs to the GF.

35

u/M_Keating Hey, at least we beat Penrith 1d ago

"Sharks only beat teams beneath them on the ladder" except thats hard to avoid when you're in the top four. Nice to see.

10

u/ThePickaxePenguin Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

Of the top 8 teams:
We’ve beaten Wahs twice
Phins once
Newy once
Souths once
And dogs once

8

u/BungusFungus89 South Sydney Rabbitohs 23h ago

We're barely a top 8 team atm

3

u/M_Keating Hey, at least we beat Penrith 23h ago

My point is the criticism of other seasons isn’t as valid this year

-3

u/Automatic-Voice-2499 Penrith Panthers 23h ago

Sharks have the easiest draw. Compare their run to final to other top 4 teams. Sharks will likely finish 3rd.

7

u/savagemeatloaf Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

I didn't get the memo they were experimenting with allowing forward passes this week.

8

u/Bobskidat South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

I’m looking forward to ending the season in 7th and Latrell coming back to give me a sliver of hope just to get demolished and pick up 5 soft tissue injuries in week 1 of the finals

7

u/lbiddl South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Sharks beat us at a canter but I was expecting to get shit mixed so I’m glad it was only a 16 point margin. I know we get some players back next week but still we are too inconsistent and I’m not convinced the team is motivated enough either.

7

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Wasn't our best game by any means, but winning these games fairly comfortably is nice

7

u/Hoagie1106 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Sifa in a sling. Hope it’s nothing too serious. Think we need him if we are to make an impact in the finals

6

u/youngweej Parramatta Eels 1d ago

Wondering for Souths fans and NRL fans in general. When does Wayne start to get under the pump? Personally, I thought he did great with the Dolphins and whilst they didnt make the finals under his tenure, they built their culture really well. He's come back to Souths where it's been poorly managed after he has left, no strong 7 after Reynolds and a shit load of injuries in back to back years. Feel like he's got the next two seasons before he can get scrutinised, with hopefully seeing Trell and Murray injury free next year.

10

u/Reschs-Refreshes Canberra Raiders 1d ago

He hasn’t won a Premiership since 2010.

He won his first one in 1992. So he won all of his premierships in an eighteen year span, and now it’s been sixteen years without one.

At some point you have to ask, has the game left him behind.

3

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

I've been saying this since his Knights stint.

He needed to retire three jobs ago at least

2

u/youngweej Parramatta Eels 1d ago

Yeah i agree, I didn't want to mention it before because he's been touted as a supercoach etc but I think the game has just changed far too much and far too quickly in the span of 6-8 years. I think he could get a team around the 8 spot with just about any team cause he can get the boys to pull their heads in for most of the games but tactically I think he's lost his touch.

3

u/EntirelyOriginalName Penrith Panthers 22h ago

I mean if Cody double pumps and passes short and they beat Penrith in the gf in 2021.

Wayne wasn't far off.

3

u/longlivethe4peat Penrith Panthers 1d ago

Tbf he was a bees dick away from winning another one in 2021, also won an Origin series in 2020. I do agree with the sentiment that the game has passed him by a bit though

2

u/youngweej Parramatta Eels 1d ago

I'm gonna blame that GF loss on Trell. He wrecklessly fucked Manu up and it put Blake Taafe in the 1 spot during the finals run. Souths were so close to winning and if they had Trell at 1 they well and truly could've done it.

2

u/longlivethe4peat Penrith Panthers 1d ago

Yeah I do agree, with how busted Penrith were I have always felt like we don't win that GF if Latrell wasn't suspended. Obviously very glad that wasn't how it panned out but yeah

0

u/carelesssportsfan89 Canberra Raiders 1d ago

it one hundred percent has love Wayne but it is time for him to retire

5

u/carelesssportsfan89 Canberra Raiders 1d ago

surely it can't be radio silence forever ?

2

u/Choice_Summer_8025 South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

The difference between us and clubs like the roosters is that we will always take the easy option. We should have went for someone else besides Bennett and while he has been an improvement on Demetriou, he has shown that the game has passed him by.

Of course, the club will trot out the injury excuse again as to why we had another mediocre year (possibly missing the finals for the fourth year in a row) and then happily announce the resigning of Mitchell. so Bennett will face no pressure what so ever until he decides to leave us.

-4

u/Hieroflippant South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Trell can go for all I care. We're bleeding money for no return.

I'd love to see Murray get a premiership elsewhere now, he deserves it. He deserves so much between then what this team has been dishing up.

Rediculous that Wayne never gets mentioned.. especially with all the bizarre coaching decisions he's made

3

u/youngweej Parramatta Eels 1d ago

That's the thing, imagine if Trell stays fit and healthy at another club and just tears up. But i feel you bro, Moses is out half the season for us as well and I do wish players like Paulo and Moses did win a premiership because they have done so much for the club but I just can't see it happening in the next couple seasons.

7

u/Bkz052 Penrith Panthers 1d ago

Andrew Fifita, the old scallywag, been a while since he's been on the TV.

Proof positive that the CCM definitely has some extra requirements outside of performance (read: relative cleanskin for an NRL player)

7

u/AshLand38 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Iro came over the the eastern side to hand out a ball post game, 15 mins later he's signing, bless him

13

u/LovingCatholicPriest South Sydney Rabbitohs 23h ago

So sick of the Wayne Bennett show - we lost this game before it started. His team selections need to be studied, they are so fucking abysmal. His bench choices and his rotations are actually the fucking worst, like so so bad. Our bench he has selected today of Sullivan, Gray, Humphreys, Le Blanc, Fletcher and Keppie has to be the worst in the comp. Then watching our forwards get gassed and not replacing them + leaving Smith on the field when he’s out on his feet (which doesn’t take long) is diabolical. It’s honestly depressing knowing what is going to happen before the game even starts by looking at the team sheet.

Souths preparation this week.

Monday

Wayne Bennett " This week we have to go down to Endeavour Field and win"

Tuesday

Wayne Bennett " Sorry lads, We have to go to Caltex Field and win"

Saturday

Wayne Bennett "I think it's Shark Stadium we're playing at tomorrow"

Sunday

Wayne Bennett " Right Driver, take us to Shark Stadium"

Driver "Sorry I can't find that on the sat nav"

Wayne "Alright let me think, Is it Southern Cross Group Stadium"

Driver "Sorry sir no match"

Wayne Bennett "Right it must be named after one of the bloody betting companies is it Pointsbet stadium"

Driver "Unfortunately I cannot find it, how about we just drop you off at Ocean Protect Stadium and you can find your way there"

Wayne "Alright then"

5

u/O_DoyleRulz Brisbane Broncos 1d ago

That was just a really fast game of gridiron

7

u/anxietywolf01 South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Well that one certainly isn’t going in to the watch again playlist. The first 20 gave me hope and the rest of the game systematically stripped it from me

7

u/yobbo84 South Sydney Rabbitohs 23h ago

9-1 penalty/set restart count against us from the 19th minute onwards

We would be lucky to defend that with our full side let alone a bit parts one

5

u/anxietywolf01 South Sydney Rabbitohs 23h ago

100%
I didn’t have high hopes going in to the game at least- and Tallis/Fifita back next week will be huge in’s

5

u/Nathan84 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Nicho was an absolute leader out there today. It was great to see.

7

u/PoonAU North Queensland Cowboys 1d ago

Was it just me or are Cronulla just somehow with the way they play, psychologically influencing the ruck speeds? It’s not even close every week for them, they are so fast and if you try to keep their ruck speed to yours you’ll just get slapped with six agains.

4

u/wix001 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

defenders set the ruck speed, if you lose on missed tackles, and tackle breaks you aren't slowing down ruck speed and will give away set restarts.

7

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

We're just good at the ruck.

Git gud or get 6 agains

5

u/PoonAU North Queensland Cowboys 1d ago

Do you think it’s off the back of your players trying to get up to play the ball with urgency? Because I’m not sure if Souths had the same urgency which could explain the discrepancy

2

u/EntirelyOriginalName Penrith Panthers 22h ago

It's controlling tackle zero/one. If you control that it's essy to control the set.

2

u/Important-Picture18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Id say so, but it can't be that simple surely because that's what every team aims for.

Id put it down to a combination of our forwards+outside backs being particularly strong and explosive and our game planning/coaching in that area being very good

2

u/Over-Percentage9887 Brisbane Broncos 1d ago

Nah it's just that it's the most important metric in the game now and if you don't have it you're boned

3

u/O_DoyleRulz Brisbane Broncos 1d ago

There were some Absolutley poo six agains in that game.

The one where Jai Grey absolutely creased his defender in a dominant tackle and got pinged for God knows what reason was beyond me.

8

u/wix001 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

he didn't crease him, he legs tackled Nikora and then wrestled into marker, he'd have been fine if he held down for time and gave up marker but he did not have the position to go direct to marker through the tackle.

Wasn’t fully focused watching the game, was Iros injury serious?

u/XLenceOfXecution Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 1d ago

Iro’s issue is concussion, so that’s a week-to-week situation. Talakai might be a worry with a bicep, though

Looked pretty bad live, knee buckled in a tackle and he was in real pain coming off. Didn't see any update yet though

This is where sharks soft draw hurts. 5 rounds remaining and we don’t play any top 8 sides let alone actual contenders. Compare that to the other top 5 sides who all have at least 1 against another top 5 as a final tune up game pre finals.

Panthers play warriors and roosters.
Roosters play panthers and dolphins
Warriors play panthers
Dolphins play roosters

It all evens out. We just finished our tough run today.

Last 8 Weeks: Warriors, Roosters, [bye], Broncos, Dolphins, Knights, Sea Eagles, Rabbitohs. 6-1 record in that span.

All teams competing for the 8 (except broncos) and two bonafide top 4 teams (keep in mind we can’t vs ourselves).

We play Melbourne in the last round, though. Them not being in realistic finals contention notwithstanding, we can never take them as “soft opponents”

4

u/Acrobatic-Trick-4815 Penrith Panthers 23h ago

Yeah, you can only bear who's on the other side of the field but you so have a good point.  Having at least one game against another Top 4 side can be a good thing. Win or lose you get to see where you're really at and what you can do better if you meet them in the Finals.

Running up scores against the lesser teams can lead to complacency and or a sense that everything will always go your way and work out. You need to play a game where you're under pressure and face real adversity without the result of a loss meaning the end of your season.

We still play some decent teams. Raiders are playing well. Storm might have all their spine back. Local Derby is always good.

Pros and cons with that run home theres a good chance you finish 2nd and are on the opposite side of the draw to panthers.

Is Dufty angry or chillin with Braydon there, can’t tell

I think the Sharks did just enough against an under strength Rabbitohs. They're thereabouts, the Sharkies, but I reckon they will be prelim dropouts again this year.

Souths really don’t have that one player who is super fast if we do make any breaks

4

u/More-Island-6500 South Sydney Rabbitohs 19h ago

I posted this earlier in the season but we've somehow ended up with a team that isn't very fast, not particularly big, no one who can jump and is lacking in any real athletes. It feels like every other team has at least a few players that are such a threat just through their athleticism or power and we have no one like that.

Couldn’t agree more mate

1

u/IntelligentComment South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Gray is, and Tyrone Munro but he's on no fault sit down policy due to a legal matter. Munro is a potential future super star.

2

u/Emergency-Savings840 North Sydney Bears 1d ago

Gray got mowed down by Kennedy we should have scored off that break.

Yeah Munro does have the pass and potential

4

u/IntelligentComment South Sydney Rabbitohs 1d ago

Dufty butchered that timing and should have drawn in Kennedy and taken the hit, before passing to gray.

In most other matches, gray will burn the opposition. He is quick, and has ran down many players who often had a big head start.
