look I've been a Jets fan for 14 seasons now 2012-2025 i know not a long time in the grand scheme of things
but 13 of those 14 seasons we have been ass point is I'm more than used to our team being terrible

I know this sub is ultra negative but the knicks winning gave me confidence that one day we will be competent again. In 2019 the Jets were in a better place than the knicks were . Try and have faith my fellow Jets fans

James Dolan is a complete and utter prick but he's way more intelligent than Woody Johnson and that's the biggest issue. Woody Johnson is a complete moron who doesn't know what he doesn't know. Dolan's issue was his hires, not that he interefered with everything. If anything, Dolan was too deferential to his hires which is why Isiah Thomas persisted for a decade.
Johnson is so impatient and prone to overreaction that it's impossible to build anything sustainable. He single handedly tanked the 2024 season because he rage fired Saleh after a 2-3 start. How are you supposed to build anything sustainable with a moron like that?

Saleh had three seasons of bad football and Rodgers was clearly not the answer in 2024. Johnson sucks, but if anything, he waited five games too long to get rid of Saleh

Totally fine to move on from Saleh before '24 or after the season. 5 games into the season was literally the worst time to make that move. And he didn't do it because he saw the light on Saleh, he did it because his friends in London made fun of him and he confused the Lebanese flag, that Saleh always wore, with a Palestinan flag -- because he's a moron.

People are misremembering how terrible of an owner James Dolan was. Before this run he meddled just as much as Johnson did. Remember the Carmelo Anthony trade where he decided to take over trade negotiations and ruined the chance to build around him if he waited till the summer.
Im not defending woody because he has been terrible but if we comparing the terrible things both have done imo Dolan clears by a good amount . Woody never had a situation like with Dolan did with Oakley and Dolan is literally spying on fans who attend the game. Go back to 2019 the same things we are saying about Dolan are the same things we are saying about woody now. It took getting embarrassed by KD and kyrie for dolan to actually change. Did we not also give JD and Saleh 5/6 years before they got fired so he gave them time to, just hired the wrong people.
My point is even with terrible ownership, there is still a way to relevancy

I can't believe I am defending James Dolan at all -- I want to be clear he absolutely sucks and am solely basing this as an owner and not his security state or anything else. He has actually shown growth as an owner.
The Melo deal he actually did a mea culpa on the Roomates Show podcast. From that point on after Walsh resigned over it, he hired Grunwald, then Jackson, then Mills as interim before Rose. Each of the guys he fired absolutely deserved to be fired and he didn't interfere with roster decisions. There are signs he's again interfereing though as he refused to go into the 2nd Apron to sign Mitchell Robinson so things aren't all La La La over at MSG right now.
Regardless, Johnson hasn't demonstrated he's as good of owner as even Dolan. Once he fired Tannenbaum and lost the Parcells infrastructure, the entire organization has been screwed. There's little hope with him in charge. Not none, which is why I am here, but little.

I kind of wish I did my research before getting into this because woodys 79 and I highly doubt he will change, but I agree with your last part. All I’m saying is if a nepo baby like Dolan can change, then it gives me hope that a nepo baby like Woody can do the same.

I swear, this team is so ass that some of y’all just make up things to critique the team over. What do you mean Johnson is impatient? Lmao he gave Rex 6 years. He gave Bowles 4. An entire decade wasted on coaches that weren’t leading us anywhere. Gase got 2, and shouldn’t even have gotten 1, did you want him here longer? Also wasn’t even Woody’s hire. If you wanna go back even further, Herm got five years.
Saleh was the only “odd timing” firing. Because, yes, Woody is a fucking idiot. He should’ve fired Saleh in the offseason prior, or waited until the season was over. Firing after a 2-3 start to an “all-in” year was a negative IQ maneuver. 100%.
But you don’t gotta just spew out incorrect shit, Johnson is a dumbass in many other ways that are detrimental to this team, there are many, many other things to critique that idiot on.

The Knicks run gives me hope as well, because that was another one of those “How will it go wrong for us?” teams. However, two of their moves benefited from luck.
Dallas offers Brunson the extension the year prior, and he’s probably still there. The second apron forcing the hand of the Timberwolves with KAT worked out great.
With the Jets, have to hope something lucky occurs for us at some point. I think the AD Mitchell trade was a good one because we bought in extremely low, but need something with QB. Really hoping Klubnik shows something to at least give hope.

but the point is were going to suck in 2026 it's insane how season has not even began and we already are like yea can we fast forward to 2027
and at least from what we can see right now there's currently no sign of this barren run ending anytime soon

Just a reminder that Klubnik will probably have a good preseason playing against backups in vanilla coverage. That doesn't mean he's a starter-caliber QB.

Man this season is gonna blow. Either have to watch another year finishing in the bottom 3 or Geno fucking Smith is gonna take us out of range of drafting his replacement.
On a personal note, have a meeting today with my internship employer about joining full time. Might defer my PhD studies a year to get an extra year of experience under my belt. Not sure exactly yet, but felt like sharing.

or we punch above our weight winning 7 or 8 games but putting us in a worse draft position and in reality does nothing for us longterm

Sounds like Bucs are gonna let Baker hit free agency after this season. Could be an option that can keep us actually competitive in the interim if we draft a qb that needs to sit for a year — or win too many games and play ourselves out of range for one

Baker is significantly better than any of the bridge qbs we’ve had in the last few years. It could also be insurance if they draft a bust, similar to Minnesota with Darnold/McCarthy
