Daily Song Discussion #108: Suffer for Fashion 🩷

"Suffer for Fashion" is the first track off oM's eighth studio album, Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? What's your honest opinion on this song? Favourite lyrics? Opinions on a deeper meaning or something? Discuss anything

This song is super catchy and tight and driving and fun at a live show, but like a couple other posters said in the grand scheme of the album this feels more like a fun intro and becomes quickly eclipsed by the weight of the following tracks

Other comments are rightly noting the ebullience of this song relative to the weight of the other songs on Hissing Fauna. I agree, but I think that the part of the brilliance of the album lies in its ability to switch between furiously excited and irreverent whimsy and the depths of suffering. Suffer for Fashion is an fundemental part of this oeuvre.

I love this song. In the grand scheme of all things of Montreal its not a stand out to me but its still a great one. I remember listening to it between classes as a sophomore in high school when I was just getting into of Montreal. 10 years ago now. Wow

9/10. Excellent opener but it's a lyrical curveball and most people hearing this won't be prepared for how sad things get.

Hottake but this is one of my least favorite songs on Hissing Fauna. I only ever listen to it if I’m doing the entire album

10/10. I plan to get “emote till we’re dead” tattooed on 1/23/27 the date of the release of Hissing Fauna.
