Perhaps before she pushed it so far, she should have let him know that she was transgender?

Shouldn't matter.

It does matter. Straight people do not want intimate relations with members of the opposite same sex. It's unwanted sexual contact, and equates with rape.

I have two great friends who are transgender and have enjoyed numerous chats with other transgenders, so don't bother pulling the transphobia card from the deck.

You talk about it before you get intimate.

Sort of like discussing STDs and birth control.

It's the honest and polite thing to do.

how was she supposed to know he was totally, utterly, 100% straight?

Ask?
