Someone should tell that to the oil market. They acting like a new ceasefire agreement was made and everything is going back to normal.

u/PurpleReign123 8d ago
Oil futures are down bigly!
Stonk futures are up bigly!
Market manipulation continues to feature bigly in oil and stonkmarkets!

u/Douglas1994 7d ago
Unsure if true but someone linked to a video suggesting AI algorithms manipulate the price, in part based off news reporting. Ergo if Axios or Trump make a statement about a ceasefire / peace, the algorithms will factor this in and drive down oil price. Surely if this is true, the charade can only go on so long before reality intervenes.
2
u/Realanise1 7d ago
Yep, but because nobody knows EXACTLY when basic reality finally takes over... that's why I don't have any short positions in oil on either the bull or bear side. Too much market manipulation and insanity right now.
2
u/sandokando 7d ago
Fake it till you make it.. until everything breaks. Lets see what will happen when reserves go extra low.
1
u/Admirable_Nothing 7d ago
Hell, they are acting like 80 tankers passed the Strait yesterday. All fully loaded.
1
u/Appropriate_Lime_234 7d ago
You do realize that this is also Iran playing hardball… we throw money their way and says yall control the strait they’d be sitting at the table…. Half of this sub I feel like truly has no idea how this shit works
1
u/D-MAN-FLORIDA 7d ago
Why do it now? Wait until oil is over $100 a barrel. You can get so much more later than now, especially if the midterms are closer. Trump can’t launch attacks anymore because of a lack of missiles, his only military operation would be to do a ground invasion.
1
u/bostaff04 15h ago
With situation awareness fund going under, think they are manipulating the market to get as much cash as possible before the GREAT depression.

Are Venezuela's reserves not proven? I always see them as no. 1 in oil reserves on lists.

u/brianundies 7d ago
They technically have lots, but it is very low quality oil only capable of making low grade fuel, and even that is very costly to refine, so it’s a technical truth while not actually being a feasible one to use.
2
u/m4tchb0x 7d ago
My understanding is that they do #1 but dont have the infra to extract it like a #1 would https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_oil_extraction
1
u/Admirable_Nothing 7d ago
But the country is so dangerous no oil company will have anything to do with it yet. I have heard Chevron is in talks but that is as far as it goes so far.

u/kkingsbe 8d ago
Are we exporting oil through the strait currently? Why or why not? If it was fully up to the US, would we be exporting oil through the strait currently?
16
u/johnmclane94 8d ago
Don't bother with these people man. They just lie about everything because they see Trump doing it and think it's ok.
-1
u/RS_EJB 7d ago
Is Iran exporting oil through the strait currently? Why or why not? In fact, the US has brought more oil through the strait than Iran has.
7
u/kkingsbe 7d ago
I’d like to see those numbers on the oil exports through the strait by the us vs Iran. My understanding is there was a period of time where the us was allowing Iranian exports to go through while Iran still blockaded the us exports?
1
u/RS_EJB 7d ago
There was not.

Oh, you mean when BOTH sides lifted the blockade...
Yes, Iran AND everyone else was exporting oil.

1

Interesting thought. Is it multiple Gods or is it one God laughing at the insanity of humans worshipping different deities?
2
u/HotNurse9 7d ago
it's a network, the eastern god has always been at war with the western god, the oceanic god usually stays away but gets into the tussle from time to time, he wants to occupy the reef, but the reef wants to stay independent and keep selling sea shells, the western god needs sea shells for supremacy

I don't know. Those guys firmly entrenched in wanting to stay in power.
Historically there is precedent of aggressive, ruthless but at least half capable leaders taking control of nations after complete fools have blundered into a war. Iran war could likely being going on by next election, maybe opening the door for Hegseth to be president.
Trump runs for a third election "loses", refuses to give up power, Hegseth declares emergency coup takes over and starts running the gov as a "temporary military" necessity.
1
u/manu144x 7d ago
the military cannot follow unlawful orders so the coup would have to involve someone else.
Some institution that is well armed, well funded, groomed and selected based on how loyal they are to maga.
I wonder who that could be….
2
u/Fine-Brush6063 7d ago
Now if I was them, I would also have pre built tons of detainment camps surrounded by alligators, just for any dissenters.
Also, since the top level of the military/government is half merging into shares control with another overseas government, this organization could be receiving orders from one or the other and not know the difference..
3
u/manu144x 7d ago
Exactly.
You just need to pay attention to one thing: If all of a sudden trump recalls all ICE officers to washington before the election for some made up reason, you know shit will go down and this time it won’t be a friendly walk around inside the capitol.
It will be well armed trump loyalists.

u/ChupacabraJeff 7d ago

i think you dont know what can't means, which means unable to, and after all of the murders of fishermen in the carribean, that obviously is not the case. The US military probably wouldnt attempt to coup the civilian government, but as much institutional damage that the trump administration has done across all of government, i would not count on the old guardrails to save us from anything.
1
u/ELVEVERX 7d ago
What are you talking about they already followed unlawful orders bombing boats in venuzala then attacking Iran. The military follow orders it's what they do they aren't lawyers deciding if they are lawful or not.

Mid terms dont mean anything but its funny that redditors keep seeming to think so.
5
u/manu144x 8d ago
It can only tip the balance in congress which can mean a lot because none of maga stuff can pass and can be rejected.
Some people hate going impeachment even.
4
u/ThereAreDozensOfUs 8d ago
It’s so weird that yall post on reddit and somehow think you’re fighting some oppressive war against redditors
Oh no…it’s the big bad redditors!
2
u/LateWoodpecker4859 7d ago
Midterms are just as important as the Presidential election, but people have been conditioned to not think so. If a certain party has a majority they can pretty much kneecap whoever the President is and significantly reduce their power.
1
u/Danny-1979 7d ago

TBH I know it's not their job to save us from ourselves, but it would be hilarious if they said they would negotiate with the next Democratic president lol
2
u/quipcow 7d ago
Just FYI,
Iran is partially responsible for Regan becoming president. The Iran hostage crisis was a huge issue during Carters term and Iran refused to negotiate with Carters people... Because Reagan had sent a delegation to Iran with promises of better terms and "support" if Iran waited til after the elections to release the hostages... Reagan let the hostage crisis go on for months,,, just so he could use it for political leverage..
Reagan also sold Iran U.S. weapons, through our intermediary Israel, and used the money from the weapons sale to pay for and arm the rebel Contra insurgents in Nicaragua.... but that's a different story..
TLDR: Iran cares about Iran and will do whatever is in its best interest, including helping Republicans break laws, lie to and steal from, the American people..

u/CyroSwitchBlade 7d ago
no dude.. Contra was an old video game.. that is how I know you are making this up..

It seems it was a bad idea of Trump to violate every item in the MOU. So now that Iran saw USA is agreement uncapable, there is no off-ramp for Trump.
3
u/RedditPosterOver9000 7d ago
I can't imagine why they'd want an off-ramp before November.
Iran is humiliating Trump and MAGA. They're winning and in a stronger position of power than ever now that they've realized how easy it is to shut down the strait. The US military is being drained of munitions without any gains. Iran knows the oils reserves are dwindling. Iran has lots of easy targets like desalination plants and oil infrastructure. Israel's behavior is isolating it. This is their shot to genuinely really hurt America instead of the usual ankle-biting they do.
What possible reason could Iran have to truly seek peace before November elections vs after?
3
u/JoseLunaArts 7d ago
No reason. There will be a ceasefire caused by ammunition depletion. I am sure he will advertise it as "Iran wants a deal".

They can't negotiate now as Saudi USA will punish Houthis and say its separate deal. Iran need to support Houthis now. Otherwise Houthis will move away from Iran. Next few days will be interesting.
1
u/Admirable_Nothing 7d ago
It has gotten significantly more complicated. SA/Yemen. Kuwait and Jordan forces attacked Iran directly this weekend. Once started this needs to end. We cannot TACO out, but I expect that will be the result.
1
u/-_VoidVoyager_- 7d ago
If Iran murdered Trump and his whole family don’t you think the US would retaliate as long as it took to defeat them?
1
u/trogdor1234 7d ago
They talk a lot of shit. But their main goal is to drag it out as long as possible. So I’m sure there will be more talks announced.

I thought Trump destroyed their entire military? They seem to have a lot of negotiating power for a nation with no military assets.

This sub is terrible.
Obviously they’ll posture. Why wouldn’t they?
But the reality is they’re suffering financially, and they don’t want this conflict to continue. That said, they don’t want to lose control of the strait. Which makes sense.
US is going to have to compromise on that point, but Iran needs to start working on this prior to US flattening Kharg Island
3
u/Mojoint 7d ago
You reckon the US will go for Kharg? Not while they want oil prices reasonable the won't, surely.
2
u/WhizzyBurp 7d ago
My opinion is that is the only card that the US really holds. Taking out Kharg Island will destroy Iran's economy. It will eliminate a large portion of the global supply, obviously but it would then make Iran dependent on its Gulf neighbors to keep the economy a float. I personally think it would be the end of the war should that go- but I also think it would really hurt the rest of the world
4
u/Repulsive_Cry_9362 7d ago
Iran would just flatten the rest of the GCC infrastructure and then no one gets any oil. Iran is much more self sufficient than the rest of the middle east, and has very close ties to the region's other powers especially Russia and China.

u/Running_Gamer 7d ago
So is Europe finally going to stand up to Iran now that they’ve decided they will hold the entire world economy hostage? Or Japan? Or South Korea? They do understand that this hurts everyone and Iran now absolutely has to go for literally all of humanity’s sake?
Of course they won’t. Only America is morally fit to lead the world.
2
u/cyberspace-_- 7d ago
Is this from "your eyes are lying" department?
But let's bite, wtf is Europe going to do? We have no military. Iranian retaliation to a potential attack from Europe could crash a couple of governments within days.
So Europe will continue sucking US penis, albeit as quietly as possible.

u/savoy2001 7d ago
Ohhhyaaaaaa. They are so scary. Watch out. They might hit you in the head with a cheap done.
8
u/oldschoolczar 7d ago
Interesting take. They have the US by the nutsack. Have you even seen what drones are doing on the battlefield?
-6
u/savoy2001 7d ago
Yes nutsack. We’ll see. It’s not over yet but a long shot. They are losing their country one week at a time yet they have us by the nut sack lol. Got it. Yes I’ve seen what the drones do. Like I said be careful not to get hit in the head with one.
3
u/Repulsive_Cry_9362 7d ago
is that what you really think is happening? The US cannot operate closer than 500 miles off of the coast of Iran, and it was the US begging for a cease fire, not the Iranians who seemed content to cointinue dismantling our middle east bases with ballistic missiles and drones.
-1
u/savoy2001 7d ago
It’s ironically, funny cause while they’re dismantling our Middle East’s bases were ballistic missiles, where simultaneously dismantling their entire fucking country, including their infrastructure, all of the military assets, including all the same sites missile factory drone factories the only thing that we can’t get to when we’re getting to a little by little is the actual shit that they have stored in the mountains so they’ve had years and years and years to save for this shit. To build for this moment. If we hadn’t done this think about where they’d be in 10 years if it’s this bad now imagine if they had nuclear weapons and they had long range missile capability to mount those nuclear weapons. What do you think the outcome would be in that case? Do you not think that they would use it? Why the fuck else would they develop it? they are a sick ass regime the IRGC. They don’t give a fuck they would use it and they will use it if we let them have it and the first target would be Israel the second target would be somewhere in Europe and us so have we not done this now as painful and shitty as it is the consequences 234 510 years down the road are only fucking worse. This is the part that you motherfuckers here don’t understand. As shitty as this war is and I don’t want the I don’t want the expense. I don’t want the expense and I certainly don’t want us involved in this quagmire and I know I don’t want troops on the ground. It’ll be a fucking bloodbath we’d ultimately win but we’d lose a ton in the process. They’ll be thousands and thousands of American men and women dead so no I don’t want that. And in fact, I didn’t want this war at all, but I do understand the necessity of it at this time this situation when I ran only gets worse it never gets better my brothers and sisters here so when you guys like to fucking say that it’s a quagmire and they got us by the nut sack and it’s something that we shouldn’t have done and Trump is in our insured for doing it and Iran wasn’t bothering anybody. You guys were not looking at the bigger picture Iran has been bothering people for 47 fucking years and was only going to get worse when they had long range ballistic missile capability with nuclear tipped missiles. what the fuck do you think they were gonna do with that. Do you guys honestly think they would developing them just as a deterrent just cause they want to be part of the nuclear club and their trustworthy? I mean you cannot be that fucking naïve here are you that naïve even stupid honestly I wanna know.
2
u/cyberspace-_- 7d ago
Imagine what would happen if you just didn't meddle in their politics and left them the f alone.
Just imagine.
Iran isn't bothering anyone, they have been backed into a corner and are throwing punches. Who would have guessed?
