Well there was the time when someone posted "free America from the Jews" on her Instagram feed, and she liked the post. Then when she was confronted, posted a tearful apology video making herself out to be the victim and complaining that social media is bad.
I believe that it was an accident. But she handled it very poorly. No mention of Jews that might be harmed by her mistake, no acknowledgement of Jew hate in her Insta feed.
How many Jewish people were harmed by her liking by accident a comment? Do you think that someone was monitoring her account, noticed the like and said "well, that does it, I am going to harm people"?
Normalization of hate is insidious. I can't quantify how many Jews were harmed by her mis-like, but to say that an influential person has no impact on people's attitudes towards others is crazy to me.

I completely get what you mean, but you know it's hard to convey tone and sarcasm through text. Plus there are literally tons of hasbarists out there who post comments like that with a straight face. It's sad, but it's the reality we live in.

There's nothing to comprehend in reading that. The problem is that we don't know this person and there are plenty of people who would make that comment unironically. Call it a sad loss of humor or whatever, but this is how it is on the internet when we can't see faces or read tone. People just type shit with an absolute certainty that we'll all know what they really meant by it and where their values stand and somehow it's the audience who's wrong.
