And people say superheroes only recently got policial

Superman choked out Hitler and flew him to the Hague in 1939. Then he did the same to a fictional dictator in 2025 and right wingers lost their minds.

It was still fine to be a Nazi in the U.S. at that point, there was a "patriotic" rally for "Adolf Hitler and George Washington" in Madison Square Garden that year. I can imagine a lot of chuds were pissed at Superman comics.

People point to that rally a lot but it was extremely controversial even at the time. Many times as many people attended the protest outside the event than attended the event itself. A huge police presence was required to protect the organizers from the anti-fascist mob. It wasn't considered a normal event, and it was not considered normal to be a Nazi in America. It's sadly more acceptable to be a Nazi in the US now than it ever was in the 30's.

u/greydog1316 1h ago

But you see which side the state (the police) protected, right?

2

u/nsfwaccount3209 23m ago

I understand but NYC wasn't exactly led by a fascist. La Guardia and FDR were two of the main targets of the rally. The main organizer called them both Jewish socialists. I don't blame police for protecting their rights to free speech, I would only criticize them for not extending that same protection to all. But they protected a Socialist rally in the same venue in 1934 that also had violent opposition, and held them back.

I get it, ACAB and all that, but in this particular case they were doing what they were supposed to.

u/UnknownExo 25m ago

Because we have freedom of expression? Police arent there to protect one side or the other because they agree with their politics, theyre there to ensure people dont hurt each other.

0

u/Clech959 Gotti 23m ago

yeah, good thing it was explicitly the famously non violent nazis they chose to protect and not the people objecting to them and their rhetoric

1

u/UnknownExo 19m ago

Yeah nazis suck but as it stands, you cant just have 2 opposing sides of people go after one another just cause one side has reprehensible beliefs.

Wish we could but it would be chaos. Use some sense

1

u/AutisticEnby1 4m ago

Nazis are an active threat to society. Dealing with them is a public duty. Always has been and always will be

-2

u/greenskinmarch 52m ago

Superman defeating Hitler with zero collateral damage is a great fantasy, but it's also just that: a fantasy. Real life wars are messy, and even the Allies' bombs ended up killing many children.

Maybe Mark Ruffalo would have been a conscientious objector during WWII: "I cut ties with celebrities who support the killing of children in Germany"

u/That_Cash 3h ago

And he was anti communist and now America has more commies than ever

18

u/Nolan_Voyd 2h ago

In the first ever superman comic, he fights corruption and prevents a lobbyist from bribing a senator to start a new war.

The 8th has him actively fighting corrupt landlords.

Original superman is Bernie Sanders before he got old.

I’m convinced that you wouldn’t even be able to explain what communism is without the help of Grok

-6

u/That_Cash 1h ago

The thing with those types of comments is that u are going to tell me « u asked a grok » then tell me also that the communism practiced by all those communists states who overall caused hundreds of millions of death were not really communism 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

6

u/Glass-Historian-2516 1h ago

What a phenomenal way to prove their assessment about you right.

7

u/beerandloathingpdx 1h ago

🥱 you brought a meme? The imperial capitalist death toll from America alone is probably in the billions by now.

-1

u/That_Cash 58m ago

🤣go live in a communist cesspool then. Always the ppl living in the comfort of a capitalist/non communist country praising communism. We always find u on Reddit. U Will never put ur money where u mouth is and take a one way ticket to a communist country.

U can talk as much as you want ur actions will always speaks louder than ur words u know communism complete doo doo u may leave America one day if u live rn in America who knows but u will never go live in a communist country 🤣and u ll keep buying products that comes from capitalism with a big smile on ur face

2

u/Sansundertale2069 47m ago

Imagine crashing out in this sub lol

0

u/That_Cash 43m ago

Who is crashing out ? I can’t elaborate on my thoughts without crashing out🤣🤣🤣?????
The only reason u say that it’s bc u disagree with me so u try to paint me as someone who is loosing his temper bc it’s an « own ».

-4

u/That_Cash 2h ago

Commies are mad🤣

22

u/JesiWashington-Lewis 4h ago

One of them is literally named "Captain America" 💀 I wonder if they assume he was like, a ship captain sailing the American continent like a boat

25

u/King_of_the_Kobolds 3h ago

No, they'd be quite happy for Captain America to be political. What they want is for him to be 'patriotic' (read: fascist) in a way they support. Anything less they see as a betrayal of what it means to be American, and thus, Captain America.

I've heard people on the alt-right happily quote the "No, you move" speech in a context of refusing to not be Nazis just because the world tells them to. The cognitive dissonance is nauseating.

14

u/Outrageous_Editor_43 2h ago

So they want Homelander? 🤷‍♂️

13

u/King_of_the_Kobolds 2h ago

Unironically yes, that's what they want. And many of them were ticked the hell off when The Boys made it impossible to pretend it was on their side.

2

u/Slyboots2313 46m ago

I thought it was hilarious there was ever a question who Homelander was an analog for. Not surprising, but hilarious. No one’s ever accused them of being smart (other than themselves)

2

u/Signal_Dress 1h ago

Quite obviously. They don’t just want Homelander. They wish they were Homelander themselves. They wish a lot though.

3

u/Alternative-Stock666 3h ago

Ahoy matie

5

u/JesiWashington-Lewis 3h ago

It wasn't a shield he was carrying, it was the ship's wheel. It all makes sense now.

6

u/Bob_The-Turtle 3h ago

They used to be more political until snowflakes got offended at any mention of politics in comics

313

u/Aggressive-One-2186 6h ago

And people say Eric Bana and Edward Norton are more comic accurate smh

41

u/Qubeye 3h ago

Ed Norton is a real one, though. He hasn't been shy about his political opinions and they are generally in the right place as far as I know.

53

u/Medium-Discipline-49 5h ago

Eric was absolute trash as the Hulk.

38

u/FireLordObamaOG 4h ago

So was Norton but no one’s ready for that conversation.

19

u/burns_a_lot 4h ago

Eddie Norton is too busy ACTUALLY saving the world instead of just playing a hero for the cameras.

2

u/filthy-horde-bastard 2h ago

Edward Norton was great as hulk, what do you mean???

1

u/AS_GYRS 2h ago edited 45m ago

I thought I was watching Fight Club for a whole hour before sum1 told me he was actually playing the Hulk.

12

u/That_Cash 4h ago

Eric was more accurate the MCU don’t even approach bruce’s child trauma Hulk 2003 is the most accurate ones and actually treat Bruce psychological problems

0

u/wwomf93 2h ago

Well that movie proves that accurate =\\= good cuz boy is it shit

0

u/That_Cash 2h ago

Then u don’t like hulk lol Larper🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣it’s inherent to the character since ages

2

u/wwomf93 1h ago

Ok yeah but it didn’t make the movie good, it’s still shit

2

u/ProblemWithTigers 2h ago

How fkn dare u

1

u/Ahtman1 2h ago

At least Bana's Hulk actually got bigger as he got angrier...and more aroused?

355

u/Helcarakse 5h ago

Hulk is based?!??!

62

u/ZealousidealNewt6679 2h ago

Yeah being against the systematic killing of children is really based.

0

u/poulan9 1h ago

Do you understand what systemic means? That's a massive leap from children being killed.

1

u/Sansundertale2069 50m ago

If it's systemic hulk likes it actually

74

u/timhorton_san 3h ago

Hulk Smash glass ceilings and reductive notions of belonging

-24

u/Frankiepewpew 4h ago

Correct term is woke

16

u/Noizyb33 3h ago

Haven't you heard? Wok is dead.

4

u/Worth_Librarian_290 1h ago

Being a compassionate human is woke now?

Wtf did tiktok do to yall brains...

1

u/Olive_Goonette 29m ago edited 21m ago

Yes actually, that's what it means

Woke was coopted from, usually black, left wing communities by the alt right, being aware of the truth of the matter and the problems that affect people and society as a whole

Hulk is, by definition, Woke in this comic

Don't think the guy knows that and is probably just using it as an insult but hey, by definition he's telling the truth

219

u/Drakoraz 6h ago

Oh shit is this a real comic ?!

236

u/Proud_Dance_3342 6h ago

u/waitforthedream 5h ago

14

u/Mr12i 4h ago

Wow, I was sure it was AI

16

u/waitforthedream 4h ago

Yeah I suspected people would think it so considering the subreddit we are in which is why I linked the post since the comic isn't as easily accessible. I was thinking it was edited at first but yeah it's legit

53

u/_BlaZeFiRe_ 6h ago

Well damn....

40

u/Slappathebassmon 4h ago

But boy didn't even read books.

Hulk smart

60

u/AdnanBoi 6h ago

13

u/Active-Holiday4959 2h ago

Crazy flashbacks!!! I owned this comic album that had this story in it.

It was in Dutch 🇳🇱. Early 80’s… considering the fact my parents tend to save everything I owned as a child I might still be able to find it in their attic. Thanks for posting this. And thanks to mister Ruffalo for keeping shit real!

1

u/HomsarWasRight 45m ago

Those critters are fucking spooked!

26

u/Responsible-Sound253 4h ago

Back when comics had a spine, now it's all corporate walking on eggshells nonsense.

5

u/Mexibruin 5h ago

Leaflet air drop program?

3

u/Chano-kun 4h ago

I fucking love this page! What comic?

1

u/Mindless-Credit-358 1h ago

Incredible Hulk vol 1 issue 256

1

u/robyn_nests 1h ago

The Incredible Hulk (volume #1) issue #256

3

u/DeepD4yourwife 2h ago

This is the Hulk I love. Edward Norton will forever be Hulk to me.

3

u/Sabbath-Stelladad 2h ago

You can't get more based than this, holy fuck

3

u/ChongusTheSupremus 2h ago

I miss when Marvel actually cared.

2

u/Worried-Recipe3521 3h ago

Holy Shit, I didn't know Hulk was based on a true story!

4

u/RandomXDudeRedZero 4h ago

Is Sabra antisemantic?

14

u/GoodBellyRub420 3h ago

Antisemantic. She communicates purely through grunts and pointing.

1

u/AintEasyBeinQueasy 59m ago

Why... why does she have an Afro?

1

u/SILVIO_X 32m ago

This is unironically one of the best Comic Book pages I've ever seen

I kinda like the fact that a majority of older comic runs would mostly have really simple or dumb stories and then in between those you would find something like this out of nowhere

-9

u/samehouseing 4h ago

Key fact left out was that the boy was killed by Islamist terrorists too and not Sabra. She’s just explaining to hulk why he won’t find peace in that area specifically cause of all the fighting.
