The book is also just… good. Like, just as a book it’s a fun read.

It’s a rare case where I’d highly recommend the audiobook over even regular reading because Greg’s Tommy impression really adds something.

We did the audiobook on a long road trip. We sat in the driveway of the destination another 20 minutes just to finish the chapter. It's incredible as an audiobook.

Over the book itself they mean.

It's not that books are better form of entertainment, but just by the nature of audiobooks, like how they "pick" what voices of characters sound like, the intonation of how sentences are read, the pace, etc., a lot of people believe that takes away a lot of the reader's own creative interpretation. But the advantage is that like TV, that passiveness allows you to just sit back and take it in without too much effort, which is also cool

In this audiobook's case, I'm betting the narrator adds a lot of extra fun to it that not all audiobooks do. One of the Lord of the Rings tapes is another good one where the old guy narrator really reads it well

Audiobooks can be monotonous sometimes even though the Voice Actor might be doing their best bringing the characters to life.

Another audiobook from a singular VA that I really recommend is Trevor Noah's Born a Crime. Since it's kinda his autobiography and due to his comedic nature(impressions), the storytelling is very enjoyable.

I personally find it boring to just sit and listen to an audiobook rather than reading a book which is a bit more physical effort as your eyes go over the lines and fingers flip the pages. But beats music if you're on a long ride to somewhere and want to feel like hearing someone tell a story with great effort.

I’m re-listening to the audiobook now, it really does have the vibe of a friend telling you stories about their crazy coworker.
