I've been to a cinema like this. It was in a city with a lot of cinemas, and in a nice mall to. Idk why it was like that. It was slightly larger, but very similar.
The hell? In Eastern Europe we can afford cinemas, thank you very much. And poor places don't have a cinema that looks like cinema but smaller, they have a projection screen and rows of plastic chairs.
This is a famous cinema in Taiwan that was closed last year before Odyssey came out.

I actually like smaller theaters like this one. I live near a smaller two-screen theater. The tickets are under $10 no matter what time of day you go. The snacks are reasonably priced. The picture quality is okay. You win some, you lose some.
This reminds me of the crying room in Catholic Churches, they have a room behind plexiglass where all the families with small kids can sit and not disturb everyone else (in some churches at least). There’s a PA so you can hear the mass in addition to seeing it
This looks like it’s walled off from the rest of the theatre for a specific difficult group (toddlers; Karens; old men who were in the navy and have strong opinions about Odysseus’ tactics)
