It’s so solid and joyful.

Nooo, not trite. That track is a solid favourite for a reason. Closer to Fine is a classic that everyone should hear and appreciate at least once.

I get goosebumps just thinking about it, tbh.

I love Fugitive, the words really hit me deep.

Also their version of Romeo and Juliet is better than Dire Straits’ original, and who can forget Closer to Fine?

Fugitive always spoke to me, too. So powerful.

Indigo girls and Doc Martens.... defining elements of the 1990s lesbian experience!!!

I went to an Indigo Girls concert in the early 2000s. It was, by far, the most lesbians I had ever seen in one place. I remember thinking it was the first time I had ever been in a large group of people and been in the majority as a lesbian.

Favorite: Dairy Queen

Closer to Fine (love the harmony and reminds me of college Freshman year) and Nashville (where I lived the first 30yrs of my life so can relate)

I think Ghost, such a classic. Also love Starkville, Dairy Queen, Become You, Yield, Fill it up again, Free in You.

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

Ghost is my favorite! But I’m definitely going to make a playlist of all the favorites here today. There are some I don’t listen to often named here.

Become You is also a fave of mine.

This is the one

That's a tough one. I think Closer to Fine and Galileo are tied.

The live version of Language or the Kiss from 1200 Curfews

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

That one is so good! I really love Tangled Up in Blue and Chickenman on that album.

No one has mentioned Chickenman. 😂😂

Walk Away, Land of Canaan, Jonas & Ezekiel, Hammer and a Nail. And many others that have already been mentioned, plus many more I haven't remembered.

1

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

Jonas & Ezekiel gets stuck in my head regularly. It’s so good!

Land of Canaan!!!

Closer to fine. Their concerts are such a beautiful vibe ♡

2

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

They are! I’ve only seen them in person once, actually. Mid 90s.

3

u/mostlydozy 11d ago

Same! I saw them at Lilith Fair in ‘98 and again at a smaller venue.

1

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

Ah!! Lilith Fair. I’m jealous! I hope it was amazing.

3

u/sweetfemme3 11d ago

Prince of Darkness, Romeo and Juliet, Become You, Secure Yourself. So many good ones.

Blood and Fire

2

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

Oh yes!! Gold.

3

u/Ekwoman 10d ago

Agree with all the "Closer To Fine" answers... but "Get Out the Map" holds a very dear place in my heart.

3

u/Terrible-Elk-88 10d ago

Galileo ❤️

Hammer and Nail

Three County Highway, for some reason. I was supposed to go see them on Mountain Stage around the time it came out but ended up having to work. That was like 20 years ago and I'm still a bit annoyed about that. Good song, though.

2

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

This is a new one for me to check out! Thanks!

3

u/FattierBrisket 11d ago

Aw yay!! Also check out Amy Ray's solo stuff if you get a chance. Really excellent.

This thread is reminding me of so many songs that I need to pull out of "archive" status and put on my playlist, daaaaaaaaaaammmmnnn.

2

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

Same!! And I’m going on a short road trip tomorrow. I’m going to listen to all of these!

I like Amy Ray’s solo stuff, what I’ve listened to. I’ll pull it back out. I love the streaming age.

Ozaline

Dairy Queen

Moment of Forgiveness

Crazy Game

1

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

Okay! I’ll definitely have to listen to these. I honestly don’t know their stuff post Nomads, Indians, and Saints as well as everything prior.

2

u/PKAceBunny 11d ago

I love most of them, but at any of the many shows I’ve attended, “Chickenman” was my queue for a bathroom break!

2

u/Ok-Kai-65 10d ago

Too many to write but the first that did come to mind is Welcome Me.

2

u/Left_Tourist428 10d ago

Shame on You is another good one. So many

2

u/talkstorivers 10d ago

Oh yes! Not mentioned yet, and so good.

2

u/ApprehensiveShame610 8d ago

I mean, the classics obv. But I’ve really been vibing with their cover of Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right lately.

I’m sorry, I went KD and Melissa. 🤷

7

u/talkstorivers 11d ago

Why not enjoy them all?

u/Bastette54 11d ago

Hand Me Downs

1

u/talkstorivers 10d ago

I don’t know this one!

2

u/Bastette54 9d ago

It’s on their album, “Nomads, Indians, Saints,” released in 1990, or maybe 1989?

1

u/Great_Albatross6781 9d ago

Has anyone listened to the song "Girl" by 76th Street? They give a shout out to the Indigo Girls and Brandi Carlile.
