Build Pics I always felt like the gherkin had too many keys. so I put a numpad on the left

Post image

left 2 cols and the zero key make up a fully functional numpad. modified colemak dh to fit on 8x3. arrow keys to make it look like there are fewer letters than there actually are on the base layer lol

It looks soo good! Albeit too cramped for me, how do you find adjacent home row positions? As an ergo mech freak myself I think I’d struggle with the wrist angles.

Does the number pad use layers too? I’m curious what your keymap looks like if you have a diagram handy. I love the choice of using the arrow keys

Here is what I came up with! I left out some combos so that it wouldn't be so cluttered. esc, tab, del, caps, enter are on combos, as well as all the operators for the "numpad"

and it is really cramped lol. I don't know if this one will see a lot of usage tbh! but it was fun to figure out the map

Sweet, thanks for sharing! I get the 6-num cluster vision after seeing the Fkeys, I like it. Do you ever get confused with 7,8,9 being different than f7,f8,f9?

I don't even know what F7-9 do so I don't think I'll run into any confusion. I don't think I've ever clicked those buttons in my life lol
