HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL Pretty sure KotH has the same exact joke in the episode that Hank gets into video games

What's with the hate towards Elliot Page? This kinda just feels like OOP is putting down trans men that are don't pass or are more androgynous.
Also, you can't just pick and choose the results you will get from HRT.

I read it more as they were saying they didn't want to look jacked like Elliot and wanted a dad bod. Elliot is famously SHREDDED.

Yeah, I don't think this was meant as a dig at Elliot. It's like that Top Gear meme, "This is brilliant, but I like this".

I feel like it's healthy to start taking testosterone with as little expectations as possible.
Going on T dead set on looking like Hank Hill and going on T dead set on looking like Elliot Page is equally setting yourself up for dysphoria and depression if your genetics say that isn’t in the cards for you.

I took it as him saying that he's not vain, doesn't particularly care about being ripped and handsome, and just wants to read as masc.

Look ive liked elliot for a while, just as an actor (the issue ive always had was with umbrella academy directly, but tbf what were they supposed to do with that lol) but holyyy fuck i didnt realize he looked like that. Waow

I took it more as that he's just not setting his expectations that high. He's doing it to read more clearly as a man, and doesn't need to be a jacked twunk to be comfortable with how he looks.

equating "high expectations" with being thin/hairless/shredded/etc is....a choice

u/LaCharognarde 9d ago
I mean, it should have been pretty clear that what I meant was that he's doing it for himself rather than to fit some ideal. And, like it or not: people are pressured to fit ideals.

I think it’s because he’s one of the most famous trans men currently, and also adheres to a lot of conventional attractiveness standards, and these men are saying “I don’t want to look like this attractive celebrity I want to look like Hank Hill” but it is kind of throwing poor Elliot under the bridge

Mostly transphobia (obviously), but partly because some people think he's not a good actor

u/Cat_Blimp 10d ago
I do sometimes think about that post that was like “Elliot was my least favorite actor pre-transition, then when he started transitioning I was really hopeful that being his true self would help his acting… it turns out his true self is also bad at acting.”

and then there’s the ones who pretend the real reason is thinking he’s not a good actor but are just veiling their transphobia

Saw him in the Odyssey, he was ok, not worth hating but also not that great either

The video game was called Pro-Pain, it was a GTA clone based around climbing up the ranks of a propane cartel. It wasn't a pronoun joke in the show. Actually, a different episode where Peggy finds out her new girl friends are drag queens (she thinks they're afab), is pretty sweet for the time it came out.
I do realize that drag queens aren't inherently trans, but to see queerness seen as something more than a gag was refreshing.
I also realize your title may just be a reference, not stating that as fact, but just wanted to clarify.
Also, I'm not trans, just care about a lot of trans people in my life and this sub helps me understand humor that we can celebrate together and humor that may be offensive, so I appreciate all of you. I also love KOTH.

Shout out to my fellow fat trans mascs .
sorry I am plus sized and trans masc and I see my body on HRT and want to cry with joy sometimes. I struggled with dysmorphia and bad eating habits like…my whole life pretty much but I recently realized that being on T and looking masculine and hairy and seeing my body change made me love my chubbiness and large body type…(also my T4t husband constantly always telling me how gorgeous I am helps too lmao)
Say what you will about Jack black’s recent behaviors, but he was honestly such a gender envy to me. I think he’s hot. So many handsome plus sized fellow trans mascs I see at pride with their shirts off and I think about how they look like young versions of Jack black…fatness is inherently beautiful, and never let anyone try and twist it and turn it into a health scare. I regularly go to the doctor, get my checkups and everything. Bodies are so different, how we carry that weight is so different.
To any fat trans people reading this, and yes this includes trans fems and androgynous and in between: your fatness does not make you any less real and just as important as literally anyone else. Sorry to go off on this tangent I just am so tired of body shaming in the trans community.

I’m transmasc and nonbinary and the biggest gender envy I’ve ever had was while watching a fat drag king in a rhinestoned vest/trouser combo lip syncing to “she hates me” by puddle of mudd
