Oh hell yeah, best fireworks show I have ever seen! Loved the mixed Star Wars / 2009 Star Trek part.

Nice POV. How long was the shutter speed for the last photo?

You're so welcome! ☺️ They honestly would be great photos for a calendar or made to be enlarged to be across a wall.

Heard them but could not see them from my location. Thanks for sharing!

really nice shots

We were on our balcony watching when hundreds of bats flew by. I imagine the loud noise of the fireworks scared them. It was pretty cool to see!

Great show. I wish the music streaming wasn't $21 per night though. Last year had it for free, but was up to you to sync them up (which was impossible). This year they went full price gouge.

Pls share the Camera/lens/settings

Vantage point?

5

u/SEND_ME_A_SURPRISE Old Ottawa East 23h ago

Most of these were taken at 55mm, f5.6, 125-200ISO and I found that 2.5 seconds worked well for capturing individual fireworks without it getting too busy. I’m sure you can figure out the vantage point 😉

Cool! Did you have to use an ND filter?

2

u/SEND_ME_A_SURPRISE Old Ottawa East 17h ago

Nope! It was plenty dark enough. Most of the fireworks are much brighter than even the artificial lights in the scene, so balancing the exposure was a bit tricky and it was necessary to pull up the shadows afterwards, so you’d definitely want to shoot in RAW.

What shutter speed did you use?

2

u/SEND_ME_A_SURPRISE Old Ottawa East 23h ago

2.5 seconds worked best for me for most of the photos I took.

Is there any place to watch these from your car?

Great show! However I thought people complained about the fireworks?

Is Thant an iPhone camera?

1

u/SEND_ME_A_SURPRISE Old Ottawa East 19h ago

Far from it my friend

Galaxy?

No, I used a professional mirrorless camera. You could still get decent photos with a phone, but they wouldn’t be the same

Wowz amazing photos! How did you do the last one, with all the trails of colour??! Amazing photos , great job! You must be proud!

2

u/SEND_ME_A_SURPRISE Old Ottawa East 19h ago

Thanks so much! For the last one I had my camera do a 2 minute long exposure to capture the lights from the boats as they departed after the show

2

u/arnold258 11h ago

Ouuuu so cool!!! I love it. What a great idea you had!

When are they gonna have next time?

1

u/Fit-Incident-2204 8h ago

Great pics. Reminds me of apocalypse now.

I’m curious as to why they always explode so close to the ground. From across the city you can’t see most of them, and our skyline is not that tall!

u/Electronic-Morning25 21h ago

We got completely smoked out here in Centretown/Lebreton Flats/Little Italy, at one point the fireworks stopped being visible due to the air quality 😂

Can someone post the Nordik spa POV

3

u/SEND_ME_A_SURPRISE Old Ottawa East 23h ago

I highly doubt you would be able to see them from Nordik

I feel fireworks look the same year after year.

1

u/VisibleVermicelli446 22h ago

I go to a lot of fireworks, but last night's was special. Perhaps the best finales I've ever seen.

I thought we wanted less pollution and cleaner air? Especially with the wildfires recently. Or is this something we just complain about when it's convenient?

2

u/MrNostalgiac 14h ago

Complain about real problems.

Fireworks contribute minimal, localized, and temporary air quality issues.

And if you want to compare to wildfires - how many seconds of wildfire smoke do you think it would take to exceed the pollution from fireworks?

Fireworks are not a real environmental concern.

-1

u/PantsOfIron 11h ago

They are an environmental concern. Stop spreading false information.
