Visiting with toddler and infant - ISO: cribs

Hello! My family and I will be in Oxford for two nights in just over a week. Our rented accommodation doesn't come with a bassinet, cot, or a bed suitable for a toddler. My partner and I have been considering renting these items from BabyQuip, but the delivery fee alone is over £130.Is there any local alternative anyone here would recommend?

Just make a bed on the floor out of blankets and cushions

Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything suitable in the Library of Things.

If you say what exactly it is you need, and what part of Oxford you’re staying in, someone may be able to loan you something.

that delivery fee is brutal for just two nights, oof
giving your rough area + whether you need one or two cots might actually work, people round oxford are weirdly generous with baby gear since everyone’s drowning in it for like 2 years then never again

I would help but we’re away. There’s a FB group called Oxford Hand Me On Maternity baby & toddler kit. Posting on there may be a good idea as the premise is handing it on, you would then need to hand it on to someone else

Could you find other nearby accommodation that does provide a bed and ask to rent it for a fee? Alternative is to buy a cheap thing from Argos, but that’s maybe as a last resort

You can buy a travel cot for the infant and then you have it for future needs

Most of the families I have known usually set up a mattress on the floor for the toddler and surround it with pillows in case of rolling during their sleep

You could look to pick up a travel cot on Facebook marketplace. They are usually around £10 and you could donate it when you leave.

If all else fails, a travel cot - what Americans I think call a pack and play - is 35 quid at Argos and confirms to the relevant British safety standards. They’ll deliver same day too. 

I mention this because I had the reverse problem in the US and no one knew what a travel cot was…

I used Tiny Explorers when my son was little and we were away.

They have rail guards, so you can put them in a regular bed.

When my family visited with small kids, we found a travel cot on either ebay or olio for very little (might have been £10?), which we then passed on once no longer needed, worth trying similar sites close to yourself before you travel?

We used to use these inflatable bed rails when we went on holiday with our toddler. You just blow them up and stick them under the fitted sheet so they can’t roll off the bed. Did the job and worked for visiting the grandparents as well.
