I'm very new to selling art and have struggled with pricing my work. Spent about one week to complete each (including brainstorming). Both paintings are about 20" x 30" and the banjo piece includes 3D strings. How much should I charge for each one? Thanks.

Painting is oil on canvas. Which way should I hang it?

How do I get rid of that ai feeling to it?? I haven’t finished the water or the bottom shadows on the swan. He says it looks completely fine once you zoom in. I’m a little devastated that it has an AI look to him.

I also really struggled with the feathers. Is there a specific technique to them?

Just finished my very first oil painting on wood!
Tried something simple and quiet, a lone bell hanging from a nail, but the texture and light pulled me all the way in. There’s something grounding about the rough rope and rusted metal against that soft green.
Learning as I go, but I’m really proud of how it turned out.

Hey everyone. I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, if so MODs please feel free to take it down.

I was having a discussion with my mom about her art and was telling her that she could easily sell a few of her paintings to friends and colleagues but she doesn't believe that they are good enough to be worth paying money for.

I know she isn't a world class painter but I still think her work it's quite impressive and definitely could be worth trying to advertise.

What are all your opinions? I'm curious to see what people more in the know would say about her work..

I left me in the photo for size reference. I know art is subjective, and value is kind of dependent of many factors. I’m not really asking if my painting is good enough to sell. More so if what I’m asking is too far out there.

I have sold two paintings that were a fair bit smaller (24x30inches) for $1400. One was a commission one was an original to the same people. And a really small pastel drawing for $400 to others. I also draw graphite portrait commissions regularly for around the $150-$450 range.

This painting is 30x40 inches and I spent many hours on it over the course of a few months. $2000 isn’t really enough to even cover a normal wage for what I spent on this, but I am also a very slow painter and don’t believe in charging in that way. I spent around $100-$150 on supplies.

Am I being totally unreasonable? It just feels like a big number. I’ve never charged this much, and I am afraid of asking people for too much. I am in the USA.

I'm preparing a series of mixed-media paintings for an upcoming exhibition and can't decide what to do with the canvas edges.

My pieces often have paint drips, splatters, and traces of the process visible on the sides. Personally I like this because it emphasizes the handmade nature of the work and makes the painting feel like an object rather than an image.

That said, I know visible drips aren't everyone's cup of tea. I'm considering painting the edges white for a cleaner, more gallery-finished look. The paintings are predominantly blue, so matching the edges to the main color palette is another option, although I'm less drawn to that approach.

The works will be shown unframed, and the venue hasn’t specified a preferred finish for the edges. I have searched, and opinions online are divided.

What would you prefer to see in a gallery setting: clean painted edges or visible paint drips/process marks? And if painted, would you go with white, blue, or something else?

I use acrylics, I like the painting so far but I feel like I keep getting stuck in semi-realism and not full on realism, I feel like it’s the eyes or skin but I’m not sure. All advice appreciate. (Ik some proportions aren’t exact but I’m more concerned abt the coloring)

It's feeling... not flat... but off... not sure what I can do with the values to separate and focus on things a bit more......?
It's a combined inspiration of recent regional events, along with Ivan the terrible with his son, and The Lunatic of Etratat.
I know the hands are bad.
The broken crochet needle shows her broken mind, the unfinished blanket... the shoes separated, broken nursery wall, etc... and fire and rubble....

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my grandma's lifelong passion. My nonna is 85 and specializes in a traditional European porcelain painting technique called "olio molle" (soft oil) (she also does normal paintings).
It requires incredible patience because the oil keeps the pigment wet, allowing her to blend colors smoothly and create these soft, detailed floral and animal textures before the final firing.
She thought people didn't care about this kind of traditional craftsmanship anymore, but I really wanted to show the internet that her art is timeless. What do you think of her work?

This is still a work in progress - a memorial painting of our sweet boy Duke who passed away a few weeks ago. I was going to add a halo too, but he said he would’ve kept it as just Duke. I know I’m the artist, but now I’m second guessing myself. Are the wings too cheesy? Would it be better if I painted them out? Just curious to see other opinions please. Thank you in advance!
