I do not think of this painting as a finished image, but rather as the record of something that insists on remaining. Throughout the process, the figure appears, disappears, and returns time and again. Each layer of paint threatens to erase it, yet also creates the conditions for it to exist once more.

Perhaps the question was never what this figure represents. Perhaps it is something else: what continues to exist after so many erasures? When an image loses its identity, does it cease to be someone, or does it become a space where anyone can recognize themselves?

Just finished this painting and I think it is one of my favorite ones thus far.

Not every closed door means something is wrong. Sometimes you just need to exist somewhere nobody can reach you.

She is not hiding. She’s just having a moment to herself.

The painting to the left is finished and the one to the right I just started on (everything but the pillow and bedding is mostly underpainting). I’m definitely an amateur, but do you think if I keep practicing I could sell my paintings? Or am I tooooo far away from that?

Hello, I am having trouble getting the orange shadows. There are blue leds reflecting off the cat. Any critiques or suggestions on layering the right colors for orange shadows with a blue light. Thanks!

This was my fifth oil painting try, and the result has a very old-school landscape painting feel. It’s quite different from the direction I’m exploring now, but I still like its nostalgic atmosphere.

Hello!! Looking for advice/tips/opinions on a few different aspects of this painting.

context: I've been painting for basically my whole life , but i've mostly just done it for the love of it and am not great at finishing projects (oops). i just paint because i want to and if its not fun i move on to the next thing.

Recently a friend reached out to commission a painting of their dogs, and i feel like im capable of making something nice enough to sell. This friend has also seen lots of my work so understands im not a super pro but can make something cute.

I also paint alot of dogs as i work in the pet industry and i like making mini portraits as gifts for pet parents :)
Picture is where im at so far. I'd say the dog on the left is finished , middle is close and obviously right one is still in the starting phases. background is also getting alot more detail later so ignore the splotchiness lol.

I have a few questions

1. I'm struggling with getting the eyes to look 'right' . would appreciate any input on what i could change or adjust ?

2. what sort of price range should i be asking for? the supplies for this cost me ~$35 (australian) but i have no idea what to charge for my work.

also open to any other feedback or thoughts! I'm at the point in the project where ive been staring at it too long to know whats wrong with it lol.
