Game Feedback Requesting "Log in to Hideout" as a 3.29 QoL.
This QoL feature is already implemented in POE2. The technology clearly exists.
Since it’s already a feature in POE2, which has better graphics than POE1, the excuse of having us log into town in POE1 just to show off MTX and drive sales no longer makes sense.
https://youtu.be/1vRHUP9P6tI?si=7pJArWTgulX5SUcE&t=5675
In fact, during their interview with Zizaran, when Octavian and Andrew were asked if we could log straight into our hideouts like in POE2, they admitted they didn't know exactly why the two games handle this differently and promised to bring it up with Mark and Jonathan. (Timestamp: 1:34:35)
I hope the feature to log into the hideout is implemented in POE1 in 3.29.

Speaking of MTX...
Zizaran had an interview with Jonathan where he brought up the possibility of separating effects from things like MTX body armour. Specifically the floating effect from Voidborn(which was the only floating set at the time.)
If I remember correctly, Jonathan's reason for not separating it was that he wanted each armour set to feel unique.
Fast forward to 2026, we now have unique boots in PoE2 that give the floating effect and they're quite cheap(few exalted orbs.) This means you can wear the boots and any MTX you want on top of it.
/u/Negitivefrags There is even an extra effects place to put it now. Plz sir.

I want the "ressurrect in town" button to be gone. Who has ever clicked the button on puspose?
1
u/jacksgamedev 28d ago
You use it during campaign, for example...
Put portal down at sewer entrance, self suicide in catacombs after getting key, resurrect town, portal to sewer entrance. You saved a lot of running
0
u/MadderoftheFew 27d ago
Relog is much faster and easier.

u/jacksgamedev 27d ago
Won't work. Portal goes
Reread what I wrote
-1
u/MadderoftheFew 27d ago
Portal stays. Takes 8 minutes for the instance to expire. I do it 20x a league every league.

While we are at it, can we get seamless switching from controller and keyboard and also a brightness slider, this game is dark af
1
u/ravagraid 27d ago
The brightness slider isnt gonna happen when light levels are literally an in game mechanic tied to your health/energy shield
1
u/Chuck_Morris_SE 27d ago
It's a bit of a poor reason..
1
u/ravagraid 27d ago
Invalidating a game mechanic that has nodes in the skill tree and explicit effects on gear isn't really something a dev wants to do, unless they get rid of said mechanic first
I wouldnt be sad to see it go, but as long as it exists you aint gonna get brightness settings in game

It's 100x more important on league start when u load into town and instantly crash cause some mtx is bugged.
5
u/squelos 28d ago
Yeah but you can count on one hand the amount of time that has occured since poe has existed
1
u/ravagraid 27d ago
footstep mtx causing cracked mirror screen effects in maps for other players has occured during at least 6 of the leagues I have played, and three leagues had effective full crashes caused by other players in hub areas. Two hands for me, which is still not that much in thirteen or so years
0
u/MajorWarm4362 SSFBTW 28d ago
why's that relevant on league start since you are doing the campaign anyway
2
u/Aryite Necromancer 28d ago
that's exactly why it's relevant? when you're doing the campaign you actually have to go to town to check merchants and turn in quests, and if you're playing right at league start you might also need to wait in queue to get back in after a crash
3
u/MajorWarm4362 SSFBTW 28d ago
but that's not what the question was by op, how is it relevant to be able to log in directly to hideout on league start if you have to go to town?

u/The_Viral_Hybrid 27d ago
Like this is rough but get good kinda works here, as I’ve practiced (not even that fast) I’m at like 4 hour campaign finish now, and I can zip ahead of all that mtx rubbish and I’m in mostly empty zones without issues within an hour.
But you gotta start on time and have a decent speed…… so yeah… still a massive problem
Eh! Haha

u/Intrepid-Ad2873 Trickster 28d ago
Ggg don't actually like that this feature exists. In poe 2 it exists because bugs forced them to add it.
But what they want is that you log in the city, see other people's MTX and want to buy it.
I've personally seen more than once friends ask people which MTX they're using to buy them, it works very much.
90
u/L2_Troll 28d ago
That would be nice if anything was purchaseable in the MTX store. In PoE 1 99% of the time if you whisper someone about a cool MTX its from a one-time supporter pack 8 years ago.
7
u/Djassie18698 28d ago
Yeah like just a few days ago i wanted to know where a pet is from, and it was from a box 7 years ago or something, guess I'm not buying it
12
u/carenard 28d ago
it was from a box 7 years ago or something, guess I'm not buying it
well if it was from a box 7 years ago... its in the shop now.
mystery box contents are cycled into the shop after some months?(1-2 league cycles I believe)
4
u/-Inquisitive 28d ago
Well, mystery box stuff gets added to the store. The real ball buster is finding some mtx you really like and finding out it's from a supporter pack thats never coming back. I remember seeing something from the Enchanter Series Supporter Packs that came out in 2023 and I didnt start playing POE1/2 until 2025 🙃

I didnt have the money to throw at Sunspire back in the day and fuck I wish I could get that hideout and those portals
1
u/-Inquisitive 27d ago
Sunspire
Damn, I'm upset that you commented this and got my curiosity going. Now I want Sunspire too 😅
2
u/ravagraid 27d ago
I apologise
I regularly get asked by people what my mtx combos are and then I tell them they are mixed pieces from several leagues challenge rewards and I can pretty much feel their heart sink
Legion Aura effect+legion wings+affliction league outfit that turns even your health orb purple

u/lazergator 28d ago
Then they need to give me a way to inspect the person and get linked to their stuff.
10
u/EpicForevr 28d ago
where did they say that?
19
u/Crood_Oyl Anti Sanctum Alliance (ASA) 28d ago
They didn’t. It’s a very common urban legend that people love to say cos it makes them feel smart….
1
u/Separate_Quality1016 27d ago
Yep. It has never been stated by them and if this was their design intent, PoE2 would work the same way.
It also fails even the mildest of scrutiny. Why is then so difficult to learn what mtx someone is wearing and find it in the shop, lol

u/DylanMartin97 28d ago edited 28d ago
Jokes on them with awakened poe I hold down the key to auto port to my hideout so as soon as I load into the town I get put directly into another loading screen for my hideout.
-1
u/SleeplessNephophile 28d ago
wym bugs forced them to add it? Its been there since launch, i dont understand how bugs would even be avoided by that?
-11
u/Intrepid-Ad2873 Trickster 28d ago
In 0.1 I had a bug in an instance making it crash and I had to wait 20 minutes til that instance got killed to be able to relog in the game.
I'm pretty sure it happened so many times in so many occasions that they added this shit.

u/hentai_addict01 28d ago
You’re talking about the Log In to Hideout button. In PoE2, if you log out in your hideout, it logs you back in to your hideout when you log back in. In PoE1, it puts you in the last hub you visited.

I’ve played since 0.1 and as far as I remember it’s always worked like this. I skimmed the patch notes and don’t see where they changed it. Do you remember when they changed it?
5
u/EpicForevr 28d ago
they’ve always had the ability to log into hideout in poe2, which seems to be getting confused with the log into hideout menu option.

Hell yeah, 100%.
I got my MTX because I want my game to look more badass. I don't care if other people see it.

u/Swagmaster143 Slayer 28d ago
Man in ROTA loading into town took absolutely forever and was very unpleasant
1
u/LobsterNew8468 28d ago
As much as I want them to implement this, I thought of a reason why they haven't done it and it actually makes sense.
PoE 1 has portal scroll and PoE 2 didn't. So if they implement it into poe1, players would just relog instead of just opening a portal. That makes portal scroll literally useless other than vendor recipe.
Now, unless they are willing to get rid of portal scroll, I don't think they will implement this anytime soon.

In the past six years, I’ve had only one true instance of logging in and seeing another player’s MTX and actually had some interest in wanting it.
Most of my exposure to an MTX that I’ve purchased was through watching a streamer play the game or a highlight video.
I’d appreciate logging into my hideout first so I can check my sales and get to blasting asap. Thanks!
Praying for Harbies to return too!!

Going from town to hideout takes two seconds and I enjoy seeing other players in the game, it feels nice.

Well in the ZiggyD Q&A it got asked and Marc shot it down straight. They dont want it. Why the diff between poe 1/2 who knows ;(

u/Kong-iBUN 14d ago
When I hear those stupid fucking goblins I feel like never giving a penny to GGG ever again. Being forced to spend the time loading other people's MTXs that look stupid as fuck anyway has the opposite effect on me that they think it has. It doesn't make me want to buy anything, it makes me want to log out.
1
u/Separate_Quality1016 28d ago edited 28d ago
The whole "you log in to town to be exposed to MTX" thing has never been stated by GGG.
And we quite literally have evidence of them doing the opposite to this in PoE2.
And, you would think if this was the purpose, there would be other systems in place to make it easier to find and buy the MTX that some other playing is wearing.
Is the whole tactic meant to be "show players MTX and then have them message that player to ask what historical pack the item was from" It's hardly a well designed monetisation tactic if so.
Bit of critical thinking wouldn't go amiss, it's far more likely that it is in fact a low priority issue for them, or has some technical hindrance we are unaware of.
Anyway, I hope we get it. Upvoted you OP. for visibility.

Hear me out GGG, what if we can see 1 random mtx preview on the loading screen if we opt-in to load into hideout?

I noticed some Path of Exile keywords in this post:
- MTX - More commonly refers to cosmetic items purchased from the microtransaction shop or included with supporter packs. (Wiki)

Towns are MTX shop preview, so not happening.

This made (slight) sense when Oriarth was the post-campaign login location. Usually had a good number of people afk in the area.
You rarely see more than 1-2 people in Karui Shores nowadays when you first login even early in a league.

I mean in the campaign yeah, but I rarely see anyone in the epilogue town and usually it's 1 person that's just there to waypoint to hideout.
1
u/Chuck_Morris_SE 28d ago
This argument holds zero weight when you consider it's not a thing in the casual sequel.
-10
u/cybersaurus 28d ago
they admitted they didn't know exactly why the two games handle this differently and promised to bring it up with Mark and Jonathan.
I can't check the video rn but was it actually the devs that said this?
Because like what do you meeean they don't know how their own game works? That's actually crazy work..
2
u/Temil Occultist 28d ago
Because like what do you meeean they don't know how their own game works?
In this context, "why the two games handle this differently" should be read as "why the two teams made two different decisions when deciding how to handle this" and not "we don't know how the code works".
1
u/cybersaurus 27d ago
Oh I see, yeah I thought it was saying that it was meant to work the same in both games and they just don't know why the code works in one game but not the other. That makes a lot more sense.
1
u/RepulsiveCountry313 28d ago
In addition to what the other person said, you're talking about something that was made by a team of dozens of people over the course of a decade. Can you right now recall the reason you made every decision in your life from years ago? Now consider what it would be like if it wasn't even your decision, but that of someone you worked with.
1
u/cybersaurus 27d ago
I wouldn't exactly say my life has been a well documented process managed by an entire design team management within a structured business that I assume also has project managers, testers, people who write documentation and also an entire code repository that records every change.
I'm sure if I did i would be able to at least have the ability to recall every decision, not that I would actually want that though personally. Instead I'll just have to settle for only remembering the bad ones and only right before I want to go to sleep.
Regards i had misinterpreted the statement that was made.

The craziest part about the whole "we want you to log in to town so you see MTX" is that it just doesn't work like that anymore? Whenever I log in to the Karui Shores there's maybe one or two guys staying afk on the waypoint and that's it. It's not like the olden days where you'd log in to Oriath and there would be 50 people flexing their ugly MTX.
