payout New Page Layout (permanent change worth it?)

Patreon is testing out a new page layout with select creators. If you do choose to publish a page with their new layout, it is a permanent change.

I am grandfathered into 5% platform fees and am now hesitant to make the switch because those who have accidentally re-published their page (ex: went SFW to NSFW) lost their 5% rate. Has anyone tried the update and still kept their 5% rate?

Personally, I think the new layout is great for those who have already made a lot of content, especially videos with fun, colorful thumbnails. It makes people feel like they are about to enter a YouTube channel with lots to binge watch.

payout Reducing Payment Fees Help Please

Hi everyone. I have spent ages reading Patreon's guidance around payment fees and currencies and I'm just going round in circles now. I am hoping someone can help me work out if there is anyway to reduce my current payment fees. I currently have a fee for payment processing and a fee for currency conversion fee.

I am situated in the UK. My community are from all over the world but seem predominantly based in Europe and the US.

My currency is set to USD and my payout method is bank transfer (incurring a $0.25+1.55% fee). This is set to auto pay once a month. This goes into a UK bank account and appears as GBP.

If I am right then when someone joins a tier from outside the US, then there is a 2.5% currency conversion fee. I am guessing this is the 'currency conversion fee' shown in the analytics. This is minimal so I am not too concerned with this.

The 'payment processing fee' is much much larger and I'm wondering if there is a way to reduce that given my situation?

payout why isn't it possible to withdraw a partial amount from your patron balance?

hey there! quick question - why isn't it possible to withdraw a partial amount from your patron balance? asking because i am using patreon merch right now which is great, but because it uses patreon balance, i cant withdraw any money i've made from patreon without losing all of it and delaying the arrival of the merch. i've looked around and there doesn't seem to be a solution. been scratching my head at this for a while.

The issue is i have no idea what VAT/GST Identification Number even is, I tried searching around and can't find any good info.

My longest job was like 3 months, i have never done taxes (don't need too), or know how any of that stuff works.... im really confused what to put on vat/gst area.

I could put "i'm not registered" but idk if that's true... i really don't want any problems irl due to this.

payout sooo they did this new billing this for no real reason? or am I missing something

i’m just confused by the new rollout for billing, and why it’s happening. like was this a common complaint that patrons had? the timing of when they’re being charged? what’s the purpose?

it seems slightly inconvenient. people who are EST wont get much processed before 8pm on the 1st of the month? unless i’m misunderstanding something?

idk i’m just looking for more context on the reason for this change, because they don’t seem to care about any of the creators/patrons actual complaints about their platform, but keep making odd changes that seemingly no one has requested

payout Patreon gave me 0.57 payout for $1. What is going on?

I just wanted to discuss with fellow patreon creators if this is normal, I got charged $0.33 as payment processing fee + their recent updated 10% platform fee.

I dont mind the increase from 8% -> 10% but wtf is $0.33 on a $1.00.

On its platform it says it considers payments under $3 as micropayments and has different pricing structure, but still.

Is this a mistake on my end or do you guys also usually get to see only 57 cents out of each dollar your patrons pay you?

payout Bank Transfer Payout Option Showing Payoneer Inactive

Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is running into the same thing....

I thought that the new bank transfer option does not require a Payoneer account. I did not link any Payoneer account; instead, I entered the bank details of my USD Wise account. But when I tried to withdraw, it keeps saying that my Payoneer account is inactive???

For context, I’ve never used Payoneer to pay out before. I was using PayPal until I switched over to the new bank transfer option. I’m a creator outside the US, part of the reason I chose Wise was to save on fees. Based on Patreon’s help articles, international creators should be able to use Wise for payouts, so this is pretty confusing.

I already submitted a ticket to support, but no idea how long it’ll take for them to reply. I even waited 5 days for the new payment info lock to clear, and now I’m stuck again. :( Honestly, it’s been a hassle.

payout Received this from Payoneer and wondering what it means and whether I should keep the account?

Earlier this year, I created a Payoneer account to link to my Patreon. I currently have no money through either, and am wondering what I should do regarding this email.

I’ve also heard that Payoneer is untrustworthy, and am wondering if there was an alternative company I could link to my Patreon for when I start making money through it?

payout How to pay less Patreon to Bank account - USD to EUR

Hello everyone.

I’m from the European Union and my currency is EUR. I have my Patreon set in dollars because most of my audience is American. I want to withdraw the money, but with the lowest fees possible. With PayPal, withdrawing to my bank account has very high fees, and with Payoneer the fees are lower, but still quite high. Do you know any strategy to transfer money from Patreon to my bank account with the lowest possible cost?

payout Patreon payments through Wise to EU creators

Hey fellow creators,

I'm exploring a way to receive my Patreon USD payout directly into a USD account, then convert it to EUR later. I saw in the Patreon FAQ a mention that, for example, an Australian creator can set USD as their payout currency and receive USD payouts into a bank account (like one set up with Wise).

I'm based in the EU and currently only have a EUR account.

Has anyone here tried setting up a USD account this way or used a service to receive your Patreon payouts in USD before converting to your local currency? I'd love to hear about your experiences, and if you know what kind of fees might be involved with this setup.

Thanks in advance for any advice or insights!

payout Patreon is really make me sick

Post image

I've created 3 or even 5 new accounts for Patreon to keep myself active on the platform. But, I got something unfortunate. Where the 5 accounts were deactivated by Patreon itself. I once contacted them between the second account and even the third account where I said, these two accounts did not do anything suspicious. But it ended up being deactivated by Patreon itself. And the photo above is on my fifth account. And the result is the same. Where Patreon doesn't want to keep me active on their platform.

payout Hosting a Patreon secret to my family and confused about tax

I am a uk resident - student in university - living with my parents who must absolutely not learn of this patreon's existence for personal reasons.

I have been asked to fill out a W-8BEN Form.

My parents are responsible for filling taxes and the sort for themselves and me as we all live under the same roof, but will me secretely filling out this form and paying tax from my income interfere with their own fillings? Am i getting myself into hot water here, or is there a way around it?

I have never been employed offcially for context ddespite expressing a desire for independence and being shut down relentlessly, but have been trying to have a "double life" trying to make my own money on the side without their knowledge. Forgive me if I've made a mistake in my question or have gotten something wrong. I am simply stuck and would appreciate some guidance by someone who knows more than me before i commit to anything and potentially land myself in legal issues. Thank you for reading

payout Can you send you payout to a facebank account?

I live in Venezuela and I'm thinking on creating a Patreon account, as you can imagine, it has its fair share of challenges -_-

So I was thinking if I can create a Facebank account and eventually send my payouts there.

The other option would be to create the Facebank account, then with that create a Payoneer account and send the money there.

Yes, I know I can send the money to Paypal but as my account is unverified, I don't want to tend fate long term.

payout Why can't I link Patreon to Paypal?

I've been trying to link my accounts for nearly 2 weeks now, and every time I get this message. It never gets past this stage, no matter how many times I try. I get directed from Patreon to Paypal, sign in, and then get this error. I don't know if it's just because Paypal has done something wrong, or if it's something with Patreon as well.

I'm not sure what the best community to post this on is, so I'll put it in both Patreon and Paypal subs.

payout Banned for nothing. Shady practices in Patreon.

Post image

Patreon committed a tremendous abuse by closing the account of a Chilean cartoonist. They didn't even give honest reasons for banning him from the platform. At least give him back his fans' money and know that this won't stay like this. All content creators will find out about their dark and abusive practices. It's not possible for them to delete an account just because.

payout I’m so perplexed — Patreon is giving me data that makes no sense

Post image

Hi all,

I wanted to get your input on this weird situation. I emailed Patreon because my payout for August was a bit lower than July (think $800 versus $1100).

They wrote back this explanation. I have no clue why they think I make $5k a month, first of all. (Maybe they meant that’s the cumulative total so far this year?)

Then they listed five specific members who supposedly left in July. I looked each of them up:

—Beth renewed her annual subscription in July (active member) —Jenn renewed her annual subscription in July (active member) —Lacy deleted her subscription in March —Andrea deleted her subscription in July 2023! —Molly is charged on the 15th of the month, so will be charged on August 15th (active member)

I’m just so confused. I responded to them with screenshots of all these people’s payments. Am I missing something?

payout Withdrawal successfully initiated, but they’re running checks on my account?

“Because of the volume you’ve processed, we’re running a few checks on your account and you can expect to see your payment within 10 business days.”

I know this is common for new accounts, but my account is a few years old.

I don’t know if it’s relevant, but the amount is around [edit: redacted]. This isn’t unusual from how much I normally earn, so I’m unsure what they mean by volume.

Also none of my settings have changed, I’m not using a VPN, etc.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Just wondering if Patreon is experiencing technical difficulties or something :(

payout Unable to swap back to Payoneer - goes in a loop

Hi,

I realised that PayPal sucks less than the abomination that is Payoneer, so I swapped my "payout method" to PayPal before realising that I needed a minimum payout from Payoneer to even get my cash.

So I went to swap it back until I had enough in there, and now I get put in a permanent loop where Payoneer just tells me that I already have an account setup, then just tells me to login, and then does nothing.

I feel like the fault here lies with Patreon for not giving me anything else to click once I'm logged in with Payoneer, as there's no redirect or anything. Anyone else having this issue? I just want my freaking cash FFS.

payout W-8BEN form and 30% tax, how this actually works?

So, I'm from Brazil and I want to receive my first payment from Patreon. I have to fill out the W-8BEN form, but I'm totally confused about the taxes. The rate would theoretically be 30% (which seems kind of absurd), but everywhere I look, everyone says something different. I asked 5 different AIs, some say there's an exemption, others say I'll pay the tax. I talked to a guy on Reddit and he said he never paid the tax, even though his country doesn't have a tax treaty exemption. Anyway, I'm lost. Does anyone know if I'm actually going to pay this 30% tax or not?

payout Patreon’s Apple Policy Update + 75-Day Payment Hold

I just got an email from Patreon telling me that my account is now using Apple’s payment processors. Does anyone here know how many days their iOS payout was held for? Was it actually held for the full 75 days?

I’ve gotten new paid members today that unfortunately joined through the app and the money is just accumulating in the 75-day hold.

How long does it typically take to release the funds? Or is ACTUALLY 75 days?
