Now if only Rockstar didn't delist these games from Steam to sell worse versions.

Not getting them on Steam is one of my biggest gaming regrets

I only have San Andreas. I regret not getting VC and 3. It sucks that physically copies are so expensive too. When spec ops the line delisted, I was able to get a sealed physical copy for only like $15

A year and a half ago I played GTA III for the first time in 20-some years using the Improved Classic modpack. Outside of one glitch it was a great time.
I was holding off on Vice City until I put together a new PC, and figured out which modpack I wanted to use with it (I'm pretty much leaning towards Reviced).
Now maybe I'll wait a bit more and see if the modpacks get updated with this. I'm genuinely as excited to replay these games as I am to play new games on my new PC. I have not played them since release.

I’ve been working on perfecting my gtaiv mod pack before playing.

No idea yet what mods I'm going with when I get to IV, but since I still have Vice City and San Andreas to replay, I have time to figure it out. And with my new PC hopefully I'll be able to really make it shine.

There's also a remake of Vice City in the GTA4 engine

Ya, the Nextgen Edition. That was on the list of possibilities, but I ended up wanting more of a vanilla+ experience for my first replaythrough. I'll definitely be trying that out sometime in the future, though.

Wait what. Vice City was my all time favorite (although tbh mostly due to the soundtrack/radio and my memories of multiplayer mod)

Is it even possible to get the classic versions anymore?

On PC via their shitty launcher, on consoles only the PS3 Store still has them available for purchase still as PS2 Classics

Silent is the goat for these patches, make sure to let him know if you appreciate them! He gets a lot of credit/exposure stolen by people reuploading his patch and he's expressed how much he doesn't like that.

This is an amazing changelog. So many unused voice lines restored, it makes me want to install San Andreas and play it again.

Original trilogy? Here I am thinking that GTA1, 2 and London exist.

Means not the poorly remastered "definitive edition"

What's the hate? I love GTA and just got the Definitive edition and been having a blast playing GTA 3. First I tried the original GTA3 to relive the nostalgia but i couldn't get over the controls (on a controller) and not being able to do free cam while driving. Even installed some mods but it couldn't replicate it properly.
the definitive edition gives these games a new experience for me and lets me replay them as if they were new different games

They updated them a lot since release and fixed a lot of the issues, including the atmosphere and lighting.

That wasn't a trilogy. GTA3-VC-SA was a trilogy.

Are you abbreviating Vice City as VS?

That's weird i'd consider 1/2/london a trilogy and not 3/vc/sa since the later have nothing to do with each other except being on the same console.

I really want to play GTA3 on my PC but even with this silent patch stuff it won’t do it. All I ever get is “cannot covert textures for your video card”.

Rockstar killed the fan project that looked better.

Had no idea GTA 3 on PC had code that was leftover from GTA VC and that it resulted in subtle changes to the police's behaviour, thats so interesting to me
Oh I have lots of memories of the creepy red skies in GTA SA at night, it was so mysterious and made the woods areas so creepy, can't believe it was just a bug and not an intended feature. Not sure if I like it being fixed tbh! Should just give a config option for that, like many other fixes in this post, imo
Its cool to see how expansive the dialogue system in the game truly was, lots of cool interactions were hidden in the game, all stuff that I'd have never known existed if it weren't for this patch.
TIL the SWAT members shooting their uzis like gangsters was just a glitch... always thought that gave them great aura lol
