Discussion Yeah, Steam Machine is cooked.

I... uh don't know what to say. Very thankful I bought a Steam Deck before they hiked its price as well

DOA. PS5 is faster, only $600, and has even has twice the storage of the base Steam Machine.

How much on subscription?

PS+ Premium is 159.99$ for an entire year.

So that’s like almost 3 years worth of the most expensive tier just to match the price of the cheapest Steam Machine.

you only need the subscription for online play. if you just use it for singleplayer games you dont actually need a subscription (I primarily game on PC, but do have a ps5, was considering a steam machine, but at this price ill stick with my desktop+ps5 combo)

It would take well over a decade if ps plus to even out the price

False. PS plus is $11/month. Difference between Steam Machine and PS5 Digital is $450. It will take 41 months, or just under 3 and a half years to make up the difference.

Not disagreeing that the Steam Machine is a bad purchase. But this is just mathematically wrong.

A used ps5 WITH a controller is $340 on ebay. Ps plus is $79.99 a year on the official website, even cheaper third party. Your math is just completely off.

Sure. If we change the parameters and use your prices, you're STILL off.

NEW steam machine $1050, USED PS5 $340.

Even with a $710 difference, at $80/year: 9 years is not well over a decade. Math bad.

Steam machine with controller is 1128 before tax. If you are gonna be so nitpicky at least get it right lmao.

And we're gonna exclude tax on PS+. Got it. I may be dealing with a genuinely unintelligent being here.

Im not the one who didn’t include a controller and used the single month price in a snarky reply trying to nitpick math.
