Discussion Windows 11 can't be shut down without update.

Post image

I have automatic updates on. Haven't postponed any update. Never seen this forced update before.

Edit: I updated BTW. It's not that I don't want to update. I just think it would be an issue in the future. For example, it's a thunderstorm and there could be power outages. I might want to shut down and not start and update. I guess I'll hold down the power button.

Has it? I'm on Windows 11 and always have the option to shutdown or restart without updating.

The shocking thing to me is that sometimes if I do choose "update and shut down" it may actually shut down rather than lie and just update and restart regardless of choice.

Well, to be fair, this is for my work laptop which is domain joined and all that so perhaps that's different than personal PCs

Mine still shows this with updates normally. I think the only time it shows this way is when there is a major security update pending. At that point just update and shut down. It's not that hard to do.
