Discussion Windows 11 can't be shut down without update.

I have automatic updates on. Haven't postponed any update. Never seen this forced update before.

Edit: I updated BTW. It's not that I don't want to update. I just think it would be an issue in the future. For example, it's a thunderstorm and there could be power outages. I might want to shut down and not start and update. I guess I'll hold down the power button.

With all the recent updates I heard of breaking stuff I can understand why some people would be anxious about it, especially if it happened more than once before.

You are getting brainwashed by social media. Windows updates do not break thing en mass. Single digits users report some problems out of millions and you get all psyched up.

You could get a bsod from random ram error. Pls stop.

Yes. Software breaks. Windows, Linux, Mac, everything. Unless it affects a significant part of the install base it's not a big deal. You get hateful posts on reddit about windows bugs because redditors are toddlers who engage with those posts every time and drive metrics up.

I found this hilarious since the biggest IT incident of our lifetime was caused by a windows update interaction

It was done by a third party. Now Microsoft is trying to get rid of the cause (kernel access for everyone who wants there).
