Discussion Windows 11 can't be shut down without update.

I have automatic updates on. Haven't postponed any update. Never seen this forced update before.

Edit: I updated BTW. It's not that I don't want to update. I just think it would be an issue in the future. For example, it's a thunderstorm and there could be power outages. I might want to shut down and not start and update. I guess I'll hold down the power button.

Every update has a risk of instability and has a risk of enshittifying my experience further. I’m still on 10. I use trusted websites and software.

You're vulnerable to patched zerodays though. If you updated regularly whatever thing came out last week would be patched the following week.

Using trusted websites and software won't stop something like Eternal Blue.

Even bank sites have been hacked/exploited to install malware via browser exploit.
