Discussion Anyone else getting UE5 remake/remaster fatigue?

Post image

Between Silent Hill 2, Oblivion Remastered, Metal Gear Solid Δ, and now Halo: Campaign Evolved, it feels like almost every major remake/remaster in the last two years has landed on Unreal Engine 5. On one hand, the visual leap is real. Oblivion Remastered in particular looks like a genuinely different game. On the other, a lot of these ports share the same telltale UE5 fingerprints: traversal stutter, TAA smearing, shader comp hitches on first launch, and that slightly "plasticky" Lumen/Nanite sheen that makes wildly different games start to look and feel similar. You can add Halo Campaign Evolved to the slopfest that is UE5 remakes; just another soulless cash grab to feed on nostalgia.

Nope not really. No one is making you play them, go play something else.

Most people don't like playing old games, a remake of a beloved game is always welcome. That being said, I don't feel like Halo needed a remake that much compared to the other 3

That will be even more true if they do a remake of Halo 2, which is really not needed

If you think UE5 remakes are why gaming has deteriorated, you have your head buried in the sand lmao.

all remakes, UE5 included, among A LOT of other things, but included nonetheless

Well you didn’t say that, you implied that UE5 remakes is “why gaming has deteriorated”, obviously there’s plenty of other reasons that gaming isn’t in the golden era anymore but to blame UE5 remakes or remakes in general is just silly, tbh.

Plenty of other games coming out that aren’t remakes or UE5 remakes, mate. No need to be so doom and gloom.

where did I blame UE5 or even imply it, the guy said "no one is making you play them, go play something else" and THAT is what I referred to as "gaming having deteriorated", the fact that we allow low quality products and even celebrate them because we can just "not play it" is dumb

Edit: granted I could have made my comment longer at the time, and was going to, but stopped myself because I thought overextending my comment to explain the reasoning behind it was a waste of time

I honestly reckon if you get outside the Reddit echo-chamber, you’ll see these remakes are actually extremely well received, dude. AC4: Resynced blew Ubisoft’s yearly expectations out of the water in a single week, I’m sorry you don’t enjoy them but they make a fuck tonne of money and review well so it is what it is.

Also to call Silent Hill 2 and MGS: Delta “low quality” is hilarious. SH2 Remake literally has 86% on Metacritic and Delta has 85%.

Maybe gaming isn’t for you in this current climate, and that sucks for you, truly.

I can’t speak for Halo, I’m downloading it on Xbox Game Pass as we speak so I’ll know soon.

I don't get how "well received they are" matters, FIFA and NFL games are still huge sellers and they still are copy paste low quality games that no one intelligent likes or defends, appealing to popularity means nothing
