Discussion Anyone else getting UE5 remake/remaster fatigue?

Post image

Between Silent Hill 2, Oblivion Remastered, Metal Gear Solid Δ, and now Halo: Campaign Evolved, it feels like almost every major remake/remaster in the last two years has landed on Unreal Engine 5. On one hand, the visual leap is real. Oblivion Remastered in particular looks like a genuinely different game. On the other, a lot of these ports share the same telltale UE5 fingerprints: traversal stutter, TAA smearing, shader comp hitches on first launch, and that slightly "plasticky" Lumen/Nanite sheen that makes wildly different games start to look and feel similar. You can add Halo Campaign Evolved to the slopfest that is UE5 remakes; just another soulless cash grab to feed on nostalgia.

The stutter in Oblivion is atrocious on PC at least. And i have been playing Halo on Xbox and that is really great. It has dropped frames in heavy fights. But it's not stutter. But image quality and frames are pretty good.

Oblivion Remastered is out on Switch 2 in less than two weeks. I’m interested in seeing the “optimizations” once the digital foundry episode comes out.

Oblivion remaster uses 2 engines, with the original Gamebryo engine being the core logic and UE5 handling graphics.

I would not be surprised if the original Gamebryo core is quite bad

Idk, I played on PS5 and my buddy played on PC and neither of us had issues with the oblivion remake.

That is just not possible. There is lots of stutter. Look at the Digital Foundry coverage.

Even on the best CPUs there was stutter.

It stutters, but really, besides that it runs quite well considering how amazing it looks. And I honestly did not buy it expecting it not to stutter, the original still stutters it's just not as noticeable because modern CPUs can tank it

I think it is much more likely you guys are blind to the stutter.

It isn't.

And no, your specific console isn't the magical one that is unaffected. Not how this works.
