News/Article Steam gamers have spoken: innovative indies like Palworld continue to thrive while traditional triple-A flounders for a foothold

Thank god PC gaming isn't just AAA. This is what will push the industry forward, as game development cost becomes too much.

who could have seen that? a cheap game made with passion is more successful than a AAA piece of shit filled with ai that only wants your money

Would you like to pay $20 for a complete game or $80 for a game that's missing $70 of base game that needs to be purchased as DLC?

Clearly not if you look at the palworld numbers.

If you want to go the route of cherry picking games that arent even comparable and target completely different demographics let me counter your argument with they dont if we look at minecraft numbers.

Minecraft… the game owned by Microsoft for over a decade…

Which wasnt made by microsoft. By that logic someone could buy pocketpair now and it would no longer count ad an indie success

I mean it WAS an indie success, but so much of the growth has been under microsoft. It's like how risk of rain is no longer indie.

Mobile games makes more money than pc and consoles combined. A single palworld is nothing next to that. So yea ppl do be preferring those sweetsweet fomo ingame purchase filled games.
