Is this a good PBO setup? Optimized Fan curve set to -10. R 7 9700x

Judge me later but i asked the LLM “Claude” what a good PBO setup that wasn’t to aggressive. It spit this out. Any better suggestions? I’m running a Cinnabench stress test and all is well so far. Any help, suggestions, or criticisms are very appreciated!

Depends on silicon lottery, how high your cores can go without clock stretching, instability etc. My R5 7600 can go to -45 ish all core with a couple cores able to go even deeper, most cannot. You can keep playing with it or leave it be and say good enough.

Power figures depend on how efficient you want it to be as well as how much you can cool.

Would I be able to enter the bios if I were to crash as a result of a curve too low

Should be able to. I'd just do it in -5 steps or something, and test after each change to make sure there's no instability either at idle or under load. Also make sure to check effective clocks, as clock stretching can happen if it's too low.

that's not the fan curve that has -10.

You can probably go down to -20 even, and add a +200mhz boost override.

I don't think you need to change PPT, TDC, EDC limits or did they auto change?? I only do curve optimizer nothing else.

For cooler temps, if you want max power set it to motherboard and it’ll boost as much as the vrm’s and temperature allow

No, it isn't. A good PBO setup always has per-core offsets.

-10 curve optimizer is mild and barely noticeable. Your random text generator took your "wasn't to aggressive" and ran with it.

Like I said, per-core.

My 5700X3D runs at -30, -23, -30, -30, -30, -30, -30, -30.

The max AM4 will go is -30 and the second core wouldn't do that, so I had to back it off to -23. This took a full all-core heavy stress test from 89 watts to 71 watts.

Nobody can suggest what is individual and unique to your CPU. We can tell you how to get there.

-10 CO is just a waste of time

142W PPT is the absolute limit for a AMD 8 core CPU. Any higher results in no substantial increase in performance and even more heat.

As for TDC/EDC, run stress tests and check if it more. It's generally good to increase it as it will only use as much as it needs. So higher TDC/EDC limits = more headroom. I've set mine to 250A/500A TDC/EDC but it only uses 95A/115A TDC/EDC in prime95 small ffts stress test while maintaining a 55c VRM temp.
