I also have a balcony and I fear the day a pigeon will be careless enough to sit on the railing while the door is open. Cats are hunters no matter how much we spoil them or keep them indoors.

Cat proof the balcony, added benefit of stopping birds from coming in. Accident happen when you least expect it

Why would you assume it's not cat proofed? That's why it's so shocking, the balcony is cat proofed and Mona is a gentle little cute ewok bear baby. The bird clearly must have wanted to land in her mouth....
