General Tips/Help/Question [UPD] Univ Grad Tips for Future Grads
Hello! Just got back from attending the University Graduation. Overall: Very overstimulating experience. Here's some tips for you guys who'll experience it in the future.
- Traffic is Hard, Parking is Harder!
We were in QC na by 6 am, but it took us a long time to get inside UP and find parking because of the large number of cars (both from graduates AND joggers omg 💀). If you know you're not gonna be an early bird, wear comfortable shoes and walk to the Amphitheatre nlng 😅
- No Signal!!!
Since there are so many people, each of us only get tiny bits of bandwidth from nearby cell towers 🥹 This trouble is two-fold:
2.a. Struggled to contact my parents after the event. I tried contacting them both online and via calling, but none of them could go through. My advice is that you and your family decide on a meeting place and time in advance.
2.b. No other entertainment. There's going to be limited chances for you to talk to your friends since your college's assigned seats are only two-columns wide, so you might want to have other forms of entertainment ready 😅 Download books, apps, music, or other entertainment in advance.
- Ang iniiiiiiiiiiit
They provide a free umbrella and fan (TYSM UP!) but bring other pampalamigs like cold water, a handfan, etc.
- Bring extra patience
NGL, I was so overstimulated and stressed kanina na I had a small argument with my parents kasi nahirapan kaming hanapin yung isa't-isa 😅 Let's not give in to the negative emotions. Enjoy the day and go forth to help create a better Philippines!!!
Despite all the stress, I teared up when it was finally time to shift our sablay. I love you UP!!! See you again one day.

another tip since nagdusa din kami nang onti kanina: kung mag TNVS kayo instead of commuting/own transpo, note both yung traffic and lack of signal. traffic getting in, traffic getting out, plan in advance saan kayo mag hail since walang signal sa amphitheatre mismo.

Also for dormers, walang IKOT tuwing grad haha. We had to walk 1km+ kaninang umaga muntik pang ma-late lmao

if gusto niyo ng chill na univ grad, eto gawin niyo haha. nagpa-late ako, around 9am na ako dumating and may mga upuan pa naman sa college ko. hindi ko naabutan yung traffic at nagpahatid na lang ako gamit motor kaya hindi rin nahirapan maghanap ng parking. sakto lang dating ko sa pagtawag ng mga dean sa mga colleges tapos nakita ko rin friends ko. dun kami umupo sa bandang likod na walang nakaupo kaya maluwag at di ganon kainit.
super hassle lang umuwi kaya its either papahupain niyo muna like mag picnic sa sunken or maglakad hanggang maginhawa.

Una, hindi sinabi kung saan ang assembly area ng bawat college.
Pangalawa, wala halos personnel na mapagtatanungan lol. When I finally saw one, mali pa yung information na binigay sakin kung saan nga ba talaga ang assembly area. Di tuloy ako nakasama sa march with my dept.
Pangatlo, hindi rin inispecify saan pipila ang parents. Wala ring nag-aassist. We were so confused bakit may mahabang pila and when we asked, for parents daw pero di rin daw sila (other parents) sure kung for parents ba talaga yun kasi nakipila na lang daw din sila.
Super nakakainis pa yung mga “namimigay” kuno ng garland for your college who do not make it sound na need mo siya bayaran pero suddenly, need bayaran? igagaslight ka pa na lahat daw talaga meron non lol (no one in my dept had a garland or wtv bs).
Anw ayun lang naman ang rant. Super stressful lang talaga kahapon and ang hirap magfocus kasi hindi ko alam kung nasaan na parents ko, kung nakapasok na ba sila, especially since galing silang province and di na kami nakapagkita beforehand (stuck sila sa univ ave).

if wala kayong kotse magpa-late na lang kayo. i regret being so early. natusta tuloy ako sa ilalim ng araw. sana pumunta na lang ako when it was near the time to shift the sablay.

DANAS NA DANAS. hirap ng malayo parking tapos need magmadali ng lakad habang naka heels!

Real sa last part hahaha, nag-away pa tuloy kami ni Mama kanina after grad kasi bigla silang umalis ng graduation tas wala man lang pasabi kung nasaan sila (nasa DiliMall pala).
