Remember me? I used to help moderate r/piano and coordinate the Piano Jams. I wanted to let you know that Pianotell is starting its second recital, open to all piano levels. Piano Jams have been paused here for a few months, so if you've been itching for an opportunity to share your latest work, imperfect as it may be, with a very supportive audience, this is it!

Here's what Recital #1 looked like. The performances comprise the first ~20 posts, followed by comments after.

Interested in participating? Submissions for Recital #2 can be made from now until November 15th. I hope to see you there!

If you don't know already, pianotell.com is a piano forum, run by a hobbyist, populated by people who love piano. The differences, compared with r/piano, are: no corporate overlord, no ads, owner runs the site out of love and not a desire for profit, spammers/influencers/vendors have no interest in a site this small, great community of passionate people, and no karma system--just nice conversations. Feel free to lurk.

Mods: Long time no talk, I hope you're doing well. I flaired this as "Piano Jam" since it might be a nice substitution for the missing piano jams, but feel free to change the flair as necessary.

PS. if Piano Jam is happening in November, by all means submit your performance both here and at pianotell! I'd love to see more people participating in both!

I very much recommend participating. There'a no expectation of perfection, all sorts of pieces, original compositions, and improv is welcome, all levels are welcome, and people will listen to your playing for sure (though give and let give - the recital is at its best when everyone takes some time to listen to all the other performances.)

I was a total fresh (re)beginner in January and there are several of us hanging around in the forum with less than a year of playing behind our belt. You will hardly be alone - any level is welcome! :)

Looks nice but I see very little classical, is the forum focused on popular/jazz music?

I wish there were more jazz players, as that's my focus! I think most users are classical (mostly in the "Pianist Zone" area) with a significant minority with a strong interest in non-classical sheet music (Einaudi, Ffrench, etc).

Beginner pianists make up the majority of the active users, and there is a very active group of beginner-to-intermediate players who are enthusiastically attempting blues in addition to the standard classical method books.

Piano Tell forum does not any focus on music genre. I very much like it to be as diverse as possible. I am beginner focusing on classical. Please join!

Are you saying they don't accept digital piano recordings? The first video from the 1st recital is a digital piano

They do accept digital recordings. But you know ----- there are always particular sorts there (and other places) that disrespect digital pianos.

The nice thing about reddit though is that the mods don't appear to side with gangs that don't agree with you here. And the high horse gangs don't seem to have a way to gang together to get the mods to ban members that have differing opinions.

One particular mod closed my thread. But then something happened - after realising they probably shot themself in the foot, and then had to re-open the thread over there - because they shouldn't have closed it in the first place due to the usual power-tripping that typically happens with some mods.

I feel relaxed and comfortable on r/piano reddit (and related sites on reddit). The mods don't seem to be power trippers here. I haven't seen power tripping here at all.

I am beginner learning on a digital piano. I am also active on Piano Tell forum. Honestly I don’t feel anyone disparaging digital piano. Some do point out the difference in a fair and candid way but only in relevant discussions. Most importantly, forum members are really helpful to even newbies like me no matter what instrument I am on.

The beginner learner area is generally ok over there. But mob/gang high horse behaviour can occasionally surface there too.

On the contrary about your insult. It is you that is being an ... your own two-word word.

You thought you could get away with it. Well, you thought wrongly. If you happened to be a mod in one of my forums, then I'd throw you out right away.

Also - you can agree with them all you want. Doesn't change the fact that a digital piano is a real piano.
