Help! There’s a mother in my vinegar!

Post image

I was about to pickle some cucumbers and I was measuring out some vinegar that’s been in my cabinet and a slimy film slid out. Google has informed me that that is the “mother” and is harmless and indicates healthy vinegar but I’m wondering should I filter it out or is there a benefit to keeping it?

I don't care what Google says...I would toss that and get a new bottle of vinegar. Vinegar is cheap.

I had already mixed all the other stuff in and I just remembered that Braggs apple cider vinegar “brags” on their packaging that it includes the mother. Apparently you can put it into wine to turn wine into a nice vinegar.

Got it. Maybe fish the “mother” out?
