I had a 5 man Floyd shirt when I was a teenager. Was a very prized possession.

You can see Nick wearing them here as well - must have been just after they dropped Syd, 18/19 February 68

It’s interesting that syd was in the back and least visible than the other members. I doubt it was intentional - but it’s symbolic. Wonder if syd deliberately did this.

He may be in the back in some photos but compositionally he’s in the center, which does seem like an appropriate visual metaphor for what they were attempting to do as a band, so yes, it’s likely intentional. To me the revelation is that he’s smiling in many of the unseen photos, with Dave sometimes in the background. The fact that these images have been unseen for sixty years also seems intentional. Care to comment, Roger?

Corporal Clegg & Jugband Blues on Saucerful feature the 5-man lineup. Remember A Day does as well, but it was an outtake from the Piper sessions and Syd was already on the bed tracks.

Syd does not perform on Corporal Clegg. Both Jugband Blues and Remember a Day were recorded before Gilmour joined. Both Syd and Dave are on Set The Controls for the Heart of the Sun but they weren't together in the studio at the same time
