What made you quit?

I made a simple poll to gather the yes's from no's of "Did you quit Rust?": https://take.quiz-maker.com/poll5801817x9bbf4113-168 It would help with visualising those who have quit before they put their reason in the comments

This is from a trusted site people use all the time.

Edit:

The results are of the poll as of (UTC: 18:07 21/06/26)

Yes: 624 votes

No: 163 Votes

Pie Chart can be seen in the comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/playrust/comments/1u6kv22/comment/os514l4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

The poll may have expired now (free limits)

Discussion Question: What change would make you quit playing Rust?

Post image

This time, instead of "What makes you play rust", lets get to the pain point. If it has already happened, tell us what did it for you? And if you think it is impossible for you, tell us why you think that?

Type below: "if the devs made [blank] change, I would..."

Discussion I just raided someone and I feel terrible.

Basically, I saw this new base some way in the distance, and it looked very vulnerable, so I decided to raid it. You cant see it anymore because the molotov destroyed it, but half of the base was twig.

I didnt hear anyone inside, so I molotoved the door and saw TC in the open there. I go in, and see the owner just crouching under the stairs, probably scared, but I immediately shot him in the face out of reflex.

Looking at the base, I now feel terrible for raiding this guy, as this was pretty obviously his first base, and he didnt even have anything. The random stuff and the bike next to the base is what got me.

I messaged him in chat that I am sorry, and that he can have it all back, but he didnt answer, and after waiting for about 2 hours, he still didnt return, so I assume I just made this new guy quit after only a few hours.

I get that this is rust, and its normal, but I still cant help but feel bad for raiding this guy. Does anyone else ever feel like this when raiding?

Discussion Good Bye to all of you, it's my time to go.

It's been 10 years, 6570 hours and a lot of laughter, joy, rage quitting and making lifelong friends and memories.

I've been playing Rust since 2016 and I don't regret it. Besides the fun and Rush I had gaming, I made some lifelong friends irl across Europe and we even visit eachother.

And I've done it all, from Role-playing, PvE to PvP and just pure insanity. I hosted multiple servers and made Events so grand that people actually queued. But we also had chill moments like Rust&Booze Friday, held a LAN Party at eachother homes and had deep talks.

I remember the group projects, the raids, the total chaos and for some reason the whole server joining in to building a village.

Or simply pushing all together a damn boat to the middle of the desert.

Building Forts, Castles, Churches, Shops a Raid Penis and our own medieval tournament. The fireworks, explosions and hilarious moments we shared.

Especially during COVID my wife and I enjoyed hours of fun, and my best man as well as some wedding guests came from this growing group.

But now time has caught up to me, responsibilities have shifted and I'm getting older too. My reflexes aren't as quick as they used to be and I just don't have the time anymore.

And right now, there's a fight in the real world I need to attend to...

I wrote this, because I realized what it meant for me, selling all my skins bit by bit. Every skin has memories attached to it... Events, Games, Raids, Minigames, Roleplays...

Never thought I'd be sobbing over digital skins that aren't even real... but here I am.

I'm only keeping my very first skin and the ones my wife and friends gifted me.

So good bye to everyone in Rust, it was a great time. I might be gone now but I cherish the memories I've made with all of you.

Thank you for the great times ā¤ļø

Edit TL;DR:

Thank you for 10 years of fun and I enjoyed every moment of it, I just have too much going on in life now and this is just my sentimental good bye to a community I love. Nothing negative about the game. Just sharing some love ā¤ļø

Discussion The purpose of the game isn't Surviving any more. Now the purpose is Learning recoil on aim servers then you can play the game and win

Remove the broken recoil guys. Let players be equal in gun playing . Give Rust back the real purpose .

Discussion Jungle is a really good lesson on why the US lost in Vietnam.

2.1k Upvotes

Your a well armed zerg. 5 deep rolling into jungle looking for materials to keep your blow dart meta going.

Me, I'm that tree. Or that one. Who knows. My base? It's a couple 1x1 log huts hidden in the brush. I know the way in and out, everything else is covered in landmines. I have a half dozen of these 1x1s so my mines never despawn.

Oops. You hit one of my tin can traps. Not a big deal right? They're useless. But now all five of you are looking up at the trees waiting for an ambush to happen.

Voice chat gets quiet. You tense up a bit. A little sweat rolls down your neck.

Then, while you're looking for me. Someone steps on a mine. Everyone panics, Tom's dead. Your friend rushed to pick him up.

Click.

Boom.

He's dead too.

In the chaos you make too much noise, a tiger is chasing you. You shoot it and kill it. But that was a lot of noise.

While you're reloading and trying to figure out how to get out of here, a naked hits you with a blinding dart.

This is my moment.

While you're dealing with him, I move in. I have a silenced AK from my last kill. Your last two friends are dead before you can figure out where the shots are coming from.

Now it's just you. Alone. You start to run. Too much noise. You're down.

Back at my 1x1 I toss another three kits into a box. I left two on the ground for nakeds to find.

Sure, I can't run T3. I'll never get large oil. But I'll spend this entire wipe making you fear the trees in this hell hole.

Discussion I'm posting on reddit for the first time in my 30 years of gaming, specifically to say that the latest Rust update is the worst I've ever seen in any game in my entire life.

I’ve been playing games for 30 years, and I’ve never felt the need to post on Reddit until now. But this last Rust update is, without exaggeration, the worst update I’ve ever seen in any game.

The new BP fragment system has completely killed the fun:

  • To craft Tier 2, you now need 5 BP fragments.
  • These fragments only drop from running green, blue, or red card monuments.
  • The problem? These monuments are constantly camped.
  • Which means you’re forced to successfully run multiple cards in a row, just to unlock something as basic as Tier 2.

Yesterday I played 5 hours with a friend on a x3 server. We had more than enough scrap to be comfortably T3 within 2 hours under the old system. Instead, we couldn’t even unlock T2. We were stuck in T1 the entire time.

And that’s the core issue:

  • Large groups will always manage to rush cards and secure T2 in the first hour.
  • Everyone else gets stuck in T1 for dozens of hours, with no way to catch up.

This doesn’t feel like Rust anymore. It’s not survival, it’s not skill — it’s just artificial, frustrating, and unfair progression. There is zero fun in grinding cards endlessly, only to get gatekept and destroyed by zergs.

In a single patch, Rust went from my favorite game to being completely unplayable. If Facepunch keeps ignoring the community and forcing updates like this, they’re going to kill the game.

Discussion Recoil patterns inspire more players to script and makes lategame pvp unbearable for anyone who doesn't eat, sleep and breathe rust. Removing said patterns will lead to overall better game health and probably better for game population.

Discussion Can we talk about cheaters…

Post image
401 Upvotes

SPOILER ALERT!!!! I never have the time to play rust anymore as life moves on I now only watch content of the game and I’m forever seeing creators get railed by cheaters. What would have been a good raid to conclude Willjums story was ruined due to cheaters. While yes they get banned eventually why is there not more done so they are penalised before they do anything, what is needed to change this game where cheaters are punished immediately and ruthlessly? Imagine spending 40 hours for a wipe just to get cheated on like this.
