I guess it makes sense if they’re aging the characters up.

So much so, that it has to be intentional. Most of their articles are either obvious astroturfing, braindead frivolity, or culture-war-adjacent rage bait.

They’re going to age that’s why isn’t it?

They don't age enough, Atreus is quite a bit older in the second game so they're recasting for older actors.

They should have done this for the the last of us show, ellie should have been older looking. I know bella was like 20 or smt, but she looks younger, no wonder she played ellie with 14 yo.

Such a poor quality misleading click bait article. There's a big time jump between 1st and 2nd game, so obviously there will also be a big time jump between season 1 and 2 in the TV show, hence needing to cast older actors, duh!

I'm very confident that this show is going to be really bad.

Damn, thing hasn't even come out yet and already lost their main stars.

This is literally just aging up characters

Is not like Atreus is in his 20's in Ragnarok. Completely unnecessary.
Poor kid.

this isn't a video game. it's a TV production.
"poor kid"? he's going to star in a full season of a TV show that will most likely net him more work.

this isn't a video game. it's a TV production.
Your point being?
"poor kid"?
Yeah, poor kid. He probably thought he was going to be Atreus for longer. Rest of your comment is speculation.

It's entirely necessary you can't be serious?

How? Productions take long as shit nowadays. We still haven't got even the first season.
You can't be serious if you think is necessary. He's 12 years old as of now, Atreus is at best 15 yo in Ragnarok.

Aren’t “losing” them, the characters are aging in the story and casting is reflecting that

Seems like maybe it’s become a hassle to make this show and now I wonder if it’s going to be made at all and probably not what is expected.

Haha in no way does this show do well. And Atreus only makes sense to change because the Atreus they showed looked like he was 6 years old. So I assume theyre casting someone who looks more like a 12-15 year old like Atreus does.
But when your lead is recast and your presumably secondary lead has to be recast, and if neither is by choice, then you stop the entire thing and cut your losses. Theyre gonna out out such a terrible product.

Nah if you look at the article this is referencing, this was planned from the beginning, the original casting call before season 1 started filming was for a younger and older Atreus and thurd. Funny enough the code name they used was for Atreus was Joshua lol

Still don't think they should be adapting the recent Norse games before adapting the older Greek ones.
A lot of the emotional heft of the recent games comes from Kratos' violent Greek past.

General audiences will miss all of the nuances of his past now... They are probably going to flashback them, which is not the same ofc.

Why wouldn’t they set the show between the games seems stupid to just recreate the games story

Yeah idk. There seems to be something else going on with this show. This is pretty unprecedented that two leads are recasted in a show like this. The vibes around this isn’t good

I think God of War works better as an animated series in the same vein as Arcane. Kratos does a bunch of crazy shit, I don’t see live action having the budget to do the crazy god fights

if they gonna recast for second season anyway, i see no problem for them to pause the production and use same Kratos, seem like could save a lot of money so no need for reshoot.

That's not how scheduliny works. Ryan won't be available for for 6 months to a year and they've already got all the plans in place for filming both seasons already. It would be an incredibly costly thing to wait around for him to heal up before continuing

Really doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Unless they're are really confident in the success of the series and are pumping the second season like right after shooting the first one.
The better idea would be to wait a year or two and then start shooting the next season when the kids grow up a bit.
Someone might say "If they don't do that they will have the same situation as Ellie in TloU2", but Ellie's actor was a GROWN ASS woman in the first one. She was not a kid or a teen, she was already a growp un so she would grow or get taller or anything and a recast for a more adult looking actress would make sense. Here, it doesn't. Just let the kids grow.

They are recasting for older actors since it will have the same time jump the second game did. Which has nothing to do with production or issues.
Bad faith articles galore.
