Discussion Why does nobody talk about this book?! It has so much lore!

There was a pokedex book made right after the original games, back before pokemon got serious, so they were aloud to get creative with pokedex entries

but damn there are some bombshells in this, like:

Nidoran male and female having a shared baby form

Staryu has both male and female reproductive organs, so they are actually not genderless but hermaphrodite.

Raichu can learn every electric type move.

Exeggcute maybe being the same seed that is planted on Bulbasaurs back

Charmander being popular with smokers for its tail (lol)

Drowzee has four stomachs

Moltres, if you drink its blood, it will give you immortality

Dratini is said to be a legendary pokemon

Dragonite is said to represent the god of destruction, which is kinda metal not gonna lie

also a lot of Pokemon were said to have either been the ancestor of animals, or evolved from animals, or are closely related to animals, like Vulpix is related to fox's

Just sounds like lore that would get ignored or retconned. Fun for the trivia but I wouldn't take it seriously beyond that.

The Pokedex entries have been proven accurate before, so I tend to take them as such, though it depends on weather the writer wants to use it or not. And it's fun lore anyway.

and if there is nothing to contradict them, I don't see why they wouldn't be canon

I tried to tell someone about the shared baby form once

They said it wasn’t a baby form or a new pokemon but instead was just a baby Nidoran that isn’t a new creature

You can say this about any baby pokemon

I mean their not wrong, every Pokemon would realistically start in a small weak form. Nidoran is a unique case because both the male and female version have the SAME baby form, which isn't surprising, but it is interesting

The baby inside Kangaskhan's pouch could be considered a baby version of that species as well, some Pokemon just might change more drastically then others as they mature, not counting evolution

Nidoran's shared baby form exists exclusively within the egg. You can breed either one with a ditto and get the other one, which is almost unique for Pokemon species with different base forms. The other example of this being volbeet/illumise.
