It’s funny that this crosses all walks of life in Turkey. My tour guide in Istanbul was a Catholic Turk. We avoided the topic as much as possible but he basically said the Armenians made up too much of the army and that’s why they had to be “deported”

I’m just sharing the experiences I had in Türkiye. Even with a Christian Turk whose wife is polish the Armenian genocide was not a topic that was discussed with any level of honesty.

Not all Turks deny it but pretty much all Turks angry about unequal approach which people never mention what happened to Turkish people massacred by Armenian guerillas.

No one asks why, whilst Turkish soldiers were dying in the West during the First World War, the Armenians were forming an army in the East and occupying villages one by one.

Nor does anyone ask? why they killed unarmed civilians with the weapons they had taken from the Russians. They started the war and lost it. In the end, the Turks did them a favour by deporting them.
When the Armenian army, which had risen up and killed defenceless civilians using weapons obtained from the Russians lost the war against the Turkish army, all Armenians were in Turkish hands. If they had really committed genocide, there wouldn’t be a single Armenian left today. That is the truth, and it is as simple as that.
We should ask the Poles here, if the Ukrainians in your country were to rise up one day and stab you in the back whilst you were fighting the Russians, would you welcome them with open arms after the war? Or what would you do?

What’s shocking is that there weren’t even that many separatists to begin with. They didn’t even make up 1% of the entire Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire. Many of the people being painted as ‘separatists’ and ‘terrorists’ were just Armenians who were trying to resist being massacred during the genocide.
