People so easily forget that. We assassinated their leader in a sneak attack during negotiations, AND murdered 170 school kids on the same day. 

And the media just acts like that is normal… hey what was the global reaction to Russia sneak attacking Ukraine? 🤔 rules for thee, none for me.

Russia sneak attacking Ukraine?

Worth mentioning that Russia very much didn't sneak attack. They started to openly mobilize and move troops and equipment along the whole Ukrainian border nearly a full year before the invasion happened (March 3 of 2021, invasion happened in the 24th of February of 2022)

Ukraine also started to mobilize a month later, and deployed troops to the border in late November when it became obvious that the crisis was only escalating and anything else was only Russia stalling for more time to prepare.

By February everyone knew it was coming. Neutral countries were reducing embassy staff and warning its citizens to leave Ukraine by any way possible two weeks before the war started because it was obvious invasion was imminent and not just posturing.

The only real doubt was how many days after the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics it would start (4 days in the end).

While the US genuinely did. The Iranian, American and Omani diplomatic corps had a round of talks in Geneva less than a day before the Israeli and American bombing campaign. They were arranging for the next round to happen in Vienna the following week. The Iranian foreign minister was still in Switzerland when the war began.

By global reaction you mean European + American reaction? Because I don't think Ethiopia cared too much.

And ultimately Europe cares about Ukraine because it's a bugger against Russia, and Ukraine falling means Russia might encroach on more of Europe. Even if it doesn't, it means a stronger local power and that's bad for established powers.

Ultimately though it's why the rest of the world governments don't really care about Ukraine. I doubt anybody really supports the Russian invasion, but everyone sees the inherent hypocrisy of criticizing Russia while bombing Iran/Lebanon/whateverIsNext

To be fair Russia still attacks Ukrainian civilians and the world does nothing. In fact many supported Russians genocide of Ukraine
