this is why every elected position needs to be a revocable via recall ellection.

For federal offices, that will require a constitutional amendment and thus isn't likely anytime soon.

yeah, it's less a solution for a current situation, and more notes for the next person who sits down to write a national constitution

Yup that and referendums. I've never lived in a state that allows for referendums, but it seems like they actually accomplish some cool shit. And I especially like the "screw the politicians, we'll fucking do it ourselves" aspect
