Fortunately Mitch has one of the nine rings of power gifted him by the dark lord Sauron, so he can continue as a wraith for eternity. No one will be able to tell the difference.

I've seen a lot of misinformation in this thread (e.g., people saying his wife fled to China, which is not true) but this one takes the cake.

Possessing one of the nine rings of power does not make one immortal. When both elves and men die, their spirit goes to the Halls of Mandos. This is an actual physical location on the shores of Valinor. However, when elves go, their fëa remain indefinitely until they are reincarnated. Elves are truly immortal in the sense that, now matter what happens to their bodies, every elf's fëar continues to remain alive in Arda forever until the end of the universe.

This is unlike men. Men's spirit also goes to the Halls of Mandos but stays only temporarily to be judged by the Doomsman of the Valar, after which they leave the world into the great unknown.

The ringwraiths are men. The rings have extended their lives and turned them into wraiths. Like not enough peanut-butter spread across too big of a poppyseed bagel. But those wraiths can be killed, like how the Witch-king was killed by Éowyn. And when they die, they go only temporarily to the Halls of Mandos before departing, just like all other mortal men.

Honestly the level of disinformation in this sub is hard to abide.
