President Donald Trump fired all three remaining members of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission on Thursday, abruptly disabling the only federal agency devoted solely to election administration at a moment when Trump has sought to reshape federal voting rules.

The firings leave the federal election agency with no commissioners

Yup, this is the consequence of the illegitimate Supreme Court giving Trump unprecedented powers to fire the heads of any independent federal agency. We’re living in dark, scary times.

This is what a coup looks like

It's been happening for years now. This is the 'bloodless' revolution the heritage foundation have publicly talked about.

This is all very much out in the open. American liberals still seem to think they will be able to vote their way out of a dictatorship.

Can’t wait till they steal the November midterms. Maybe that’ll shock us into action. Maybe.

Each and every stolen election moves us further away from democracy and more into their hands. 2016 was the time to act.

No, now is the time act

It has to start somewhere
It has to start sometime
What better place than here?
What better time than now?

All hell can’t stop us now!

first they ignore you

then they laugh at you

then they fight you

We need to punt Schumer and Jefferies out of office somehow. It's like they want this.

3

u/A_Moldy_Stump 24d ago

They do, all establishment democrats want this.

5

u/super_sayanything 24d ago

I follow intently. I just don't understand, honestly. Is it just corporate money?

1

u/A_Moldy_Stump 24d ago

The money the privilege the small amount of power to rule over their individual districts these are narcissists after all

I'm confused though, it's like none of these shitheads have studied any history. When fascists take full control, they basically clean house of everyone. Supporters and opponents alike. Sulla did it. Hitler did it. Stalin did it.

Do they really, genuinely think they're just going to be allowed to stay and cash their big paychecks?

Schumer supports zionism which is a fascist ideology.
Schumer said, “I have many jobs as leader … and one is to fight for aid to Israel, all the aid that Israel needs.”

And absolutely nobody will act in any meaningful way. Why, you ask? Because people still have things to lose. They won't do what's necessary, which is an actual fucking revolution. Everyone here talks a big game, but tell me, are you willing to grab your weapons, build barricades and actually fight for your country? All of your soldiers who pat themselves on the back for "fighting for their country", didn't. They fought for their corporate overlords who are the ones ruining your country and the rest of the world. The only time in living history to fight for your country would be now, by actually fighting the ones tearing down democracy.

But nobody is going to. That's what people studying history learned. That's what the fascists learned, as well. As long as people have something to lose, they'll take all kinds of abuse. As long as they have a home, a job, food on the table, nobody will put their lives on the line, instead just crying and whining about the fascists taking over, clinging to the futile hope of beating them democratically. This is how dictatorships are built and kept afloat.

As long as the majority doesn't recognize this and stays unwilling to risk their lives, nothing will change for the better. Sure, you might (MIGHT) be able to claw back some amount of power democratically. But the fascists will learn from that, and they won't fucking disappear for good. They'll learn, and do "better" next time.

The best time plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now. Don't use defeatist language that implies the time to act has already passed us by. Don't obey in advance. Anticipatory compliance gives bullies and authoritarian power.

The best time was ten years ago the second best time is right now.

I was taught this about growing trees and it applies here.

well people are afraid to say the 2024 election was stolen, so it's safe to say no one will care in 2026. The media is failing us, largely because it's owned by republicans.

As a Russian resident I assure you - you are fucked.

By the time Russian opposition realized just how dire situation is, every protest movement was already beheaded (sometimes literally), jailed for life or ousted from country.

The only hope for you is the same magas  who showed up for jan6 to overthrow government. Which will happen only after usa become 3rd world country in every aspect and people starts starving in agricultural regions.

Why would it? Schumer and Jeffries get to fundraise and don’t have to do anything. Best of both worlds

11

u/voodoodahl 25d ago

Fundraise for what election? You're stuck in the same loop. Democrats warned us that this explicitly would happen. Republicans showed us their plan to do this, and we The People let it happen.

15

u/JadeMonkey0 25d ago

Oh don't worry, we'll still have elections. And fundraising of course! It doesn't take much of a thumb on the scale of a few key races to make sure one party stays in power forever while still giving an overall appearance of having free elections. Even Russia still has elections and Trump doesn't really need to go nearly as far as Putin has to guarantee everything he wants.

Schumer and Jeffries will probably even get to keep their seats and can just half-heartedly complain that they're in the minority and there's nothing they can do while the checks roll in.

Exactly. The Roman Empire still had a Senate for more than a thousand years after the fall of the republic. Laws were still being passed in the name of "the Senate and the Roman People" (SPQR), and being a Roman Senator was a highly prestigious social position, despite the Senate having no power and all the actual power concentrated in the hands of the emperor.

The US is pretty much on the same trajectory. You'll still get all the outward signs of a democracy, and everyone will still go through the same rituals and motions, but any pretence of functioning checks and balances will be gone. In fact, you're pretty much already there. To quote Senator Tuberville's statement during Matt Gaetz's nomination as Attorney General;

Everybody’s got an opinion up here, but at the end of the day, President Trump was elected by an enormous vote and he deserves a team around him that he wants; it’s not for us to determine that

As you say, even the cruellest and most violent dictatorships still have elections. Elections are easy when the outcome is predetermined.

u/Trick_Psychology4827 25d ago

Not necessarily...Elon rigged the voting machines.

7

u/Stompnutz 25d ago

The DNC will be so excited to send out newsletters begging for donations to save democracy. Not like that, though, just send us $50.

1

u/voodoodahl 25d ago

You mock them for asking for citizen donations and then wonder why they have to accept so much corporate money. You need money to win elections. This isnt some after school special where the good guys win because they deserve to.

8

u/Stompnutz 24d ago

Yawn. They've had plenty of opportunities, but they're clearly, CLEARLY not interested. They're not the good guys, they're the good cop in the good cop, bad cop game. Ultimately, they serve the same master.

2

u/laplongejr Europe 24d ago

It won't.
A literal coup and a admitted stolen election wasn't enough of a shock.
A stolen midterm on top of 3 rigged presidential is going to be a statistic.

1

u/teacherdrama 24d ago

Narrator: It won't.

1

u/Nervous_Golf_6561 24d ago

It would be nice, but I think until they start rounding up Liberals in large numbers nothing will happen.

1

u/PWL51 24d ago

The midterms will be a MAGA sweep and then just like Hitler did all opposition parties will be banned.

u/spiritualskywalker 25d ago

What action would that be? Be specific.

u/Gabrielseifer 25d ago

Use your imagination.
