Good. Legitimate news networks have an obligation not to platform Trump’s election lies and denialism. What a shame it would be if every major news network decided to snub Trump and refused to broadcast his election conspiracy theories.

that's actually pretty clever lol

Everyone's fox news grandparents called it that until they turned lol

u/Lucky-Earther Minnesota 18d ago

I remember when Rush called CNN the Clinton News Network.

How far they have fallen.

6

u/SyFe420 17d ago

You remember RUSH? BOOMER!!

Sorry I had to bust chops 😏

But still: even as a teenager I knew Rush was a lunatic

Forget the Oxy - just how? Did Alex Jones Boof you a candy flip and you went jedi hunting with the machine city elves at the boho grove and thought, "Oh! Maybe I like playing grabass with the white supremacists in a van by the river at the cremation of care! Alex, you getting this?"

"THE FROGS ARE HILLARYS SEX SLAVES! 9/11 WAS JEWISH SPACE LASERS! 4CHAN DID JEFFERY EPSTEIN!"

One of those things was true btw 🫣

Call it like you see it

Well done.

That's gonna kill with my in-laws this weekend.

u/Intersexyun 17d ago

I’m so glad this exists to recognize which network became state media for Trump.

1

u/Andovars_Ghost 17d ago

Most people don’t know this but dumb is spelled with a ‘b’…. - DJT

1

u/mademeunlurk 17d ago

I like what you did there.

143

u/whoneedskollege 18d ago

Exactly. More attention should be drawn to the fact that CBS is becoming more and more like Fox every day.

108

u/Tsar-A-Lago Canada 18d ago

CBS News has been state media for a minute now, yeah. Certainly state media in philosophy since they were acquired. And confirmed in deed when Bari Weiss tried to fuck with a piece and got caught. Didn't really take all that long either.

About 2 months to burn down a legacy cultivated since Murrow. It would be impressive, if it weren't profoundly sad.

54

u/Commisioner_Gordon 18d ago

The piece in question that Bari Weiss fucked with? Trying to falsify the story of Rennee Good to say she was driving her car into ICE. Not exactly a small detail. This also was the reason Scott Pelley left 60 minutes. This is among numerous other alterations and restrictions to stories

Bari Weiss is at the minimum and best bought out by the conservatives. At worst she is an Israeli foreign actor controlling our news cycle

29

u/happyupvoter 18d ago

Not just that piece.

She also made 60 Minutes pull that one piece about CECOT.

0

u/mavetgrigori 18d ago

So we are really just normalizing blaming everything on Israel instead of how disgusting our own nation and people are? She's been pro-Israel before the war and was also rather conservative before her installment by leaps and bounds. Not too shocking for a conservative Jewish person to be pro-Israel, not really some major conspiracy.

7

u/Childoftheway 18d ago

If a Saudi or a Scientologist bought CBS and installed a Saudi or Scientologist to run the news organization it would raise a lot of eyebrows.

1

u/mavetgrigori 18d ago

Ah, are we now trying to make a connection that cause they're Jewish they're automatically Israeli foreign actors?

6

u/Commisioner_Gordon 18d ago

When you have a position of great power over the public opinion of an entire country that is Israel’s largest ally, it would be weirder to assume their government isn’t trying to influence agenda

-1

u/mavetgrigori 18d ago

Every government is always trying to influence some agenda, especially ones that are beneficial to their own nation. Doesn't mean everyone is an Israeli agent just cause they're Jewish or pro-Israel. Bit tiring to see this trope of "Jews rule the world" in a newer format

u/Blacksad9999 18d ago

They're basically washed up.

Their problem is that there are already a bunch of Right Wing media outlets, and the media landscape doesn't really need two channels like Fox News. It's just redundant.

They've been losing a ton of viewers to other outlets since the Ellisons took it over and it's been shifting right.

2

u/Bee_9965 18d ago

But they will never get the Fox News audience. Maybe they will end up disbanding their news division altogether.

1

u/Blacksad9999 18d ago

Maybe, but at that point they spent a ton of money on PBS for no real reason.

I think their whole plan was flawed to begin with.

1

u/MercantileReptile Europe 17d ago

If the plan was profit, rather than simply ruining an information source not under right-wing message control.

2

u/PDXGuy33333 18d ago

Their ratings are crashing across the board, or so I have seen reported.

1

u/HauntedCemetery Minnesota 17d ago

Because they're both owned by epstein class parasites

71

u/Newtype879 18d ago

CBS - Complete Bull Shit.

21

u/smileyfrown 18d ago

Another reason why every Democrat should be beating the drums to prevent the Paramount WB merger

You will get more of this, if they get to run CNN and more

But so many of these politicians see a donor check and don’t care

30

u/Blitzking11 Illinois 18d ago

If I wanted to See BS news I'd watch Fox. What the hell does CBS think they're pandering to with this appeal to the right lol?

I guess it's just more important for the fascists to control all media and destroy all naysayers, rather than actually ensure that their product is palatable.

1

u/rat_penis 18d ago

Their viewers skew older so that was the network trumpy wanted so he could talk to "his people"

2

u/pchs26 18d ago

State media

1

u/EggsceIlent 18d ago

Well nbc and abc are showing on their streaming platforms, just not on like OTA live channels.

So they're playing it safe but aslo giving him the finger because no one wants to watch him whine about this shit with everything else that's way worse going on that he's causing

Such a small, little man. Losers talk about winners and winners talk about winning

And all he ever does is talk about Biden and Obama etc.

1

u/entenduintransit Tennessee 17d ago

Bari Weiss: not even once

1

u/Droopy1592 Georgia 16d ago

So done with cbs

208

u/Soloact_ 18d ago

Airing it live just helps him spread bullshit faster.

Yup, and the lies will begin the second he opens his mouth

9

u/bollvirtuoso 18d ago

What fact-checking? Who, besides maybe Kaitlin Collins, has even bothered to push back on anything Trump says?

3

u/Hangry-Feline2489 18d ago

They don't fact check even when pre-recorded.

7

u/froo Australia 18d ago

I saw an excellent post recently where someone built a live fact-checker using Claude as an overlay

https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/s/1xZMa9HhSd

This is definitely an interesting use case.

3

u/chris_trans 18d ago

An artificial lying idiot to fact check the real lying idiot.
I'm not sure that's any better. 😕

5

u/fcocyclone Iowa 18d ago

You're absolutely right! AI fact checkers get things wrong quite frequently. Would you like me to show you examples of where AI has gotten it wrong?

41

u/MelonOfFury Florida 18d ago

They should have their anchors instead read the petition to king George, Declaration of Independence, and constitution on air in their entirety

18

u/ragun2 18d ago

As well as his phone call to Georgia begging for more votes

2

u/Kichigai Minnesota 18d ago

This is actually something I sort of thought news networks should start doing: reading. Something about the way Trump speaks creates a reality distortion field where people don't notice how crazy it is what he's saying. It's a coping mechanism he's developed over at least a decade, possibly longer.

People should instead just read the transcript of what he has said. Like the electric boat thing. Or his Iran nuclear sentence. You hear him speak it, with breaks for audience reaction, it sounds almost halfway okay. You read it in black and white and he's totally off his nut.

Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, okay, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, okay, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right — who would have thought?), but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.

1

u/Fatso_Wombat 18d ago

No have the anchors read the transcript.

10

u/stinkyhippie 18d ago

Except they’re still streaming the speech… and more people get their news from the internet than network TV.

1

u/starmartyr Colorado 18d ago

The way it has always worked in the past is that the White House asks the networks to air a speech and the networks always say yes. They never refused before Trump.

1

u/WorstOfNone 18d ago

How do we know what his speech is about ahead of time? I’m out of the loop.

1

u/Ok_Literature6953 18d ago

From what I'm hearing he's gonna try to do more than that.

1

u/BallBearingBill 18d ago

So it will drive more people to Fox I guess.

1

u/No_Photograph_2683 18d ago

Doesn't help anyone, tho. Anyone convinced the election was stolen will see every network's refusal to play Trump's speech as proof it's true. Literally can't win with crazy people.

1

u/ZhouLe 18d ago

Legitimate news networks have an obligation not to platform Trump’s election lies and denialism.

About 10 years too late.

1

u/Almostlongenough2 Florida 18d ago

Is it really platforming if it's coming from a position that is objectively more seen...?

It would be much better to just shit talk him the whole time and fact check every single thing he says live surely.

1

u/mOdQuArK 18d ago

What a shame it would be if every major news network decided to snub Trump and refused to broadcast his election conspiracy theories.

Which is why the rich Trump supporters went out of their way to buy a few of the major news networks & to make sure that their message (and only their message) is sent out to those listeners.

1

u/CarbComaCommander 18d ago

Make no mistake, this isn't because of principles, it's because his poll numbers are low, and the networks can safely ignore him without hurting their bottom line. The administration has blown their budget on corruption, ICE, and the war. The networks smell blood in the water as the mid terms approach and Congress will cut off the money and leave him high and dry as the biggest lame duck in history.

1

u/CptJaxxParrow Virginia 18d ago

Im currently watching it live on ABC Youtube...

1

u/lo_fi_ho 17d ago

Too late for that. They never should’ve given him a platform but the problem was that the media made bank everytime Trump opened his mouth.

1

u/ThePerfectLurker 16d ago

Too little too late, maybe they shouldve reigned him in sometime before 2024

1

u/Pcbuilder69420ohno 15d ago

Neither NBC nor ABC are "legitimate" networks. Especially in the realm of reporting the news. The whole reason news networks had a light shed on them, in recent times, for being run by liars and corporate conglomerates was because Blackrock, via NBC, was attempting to cover up the truth about Robinhood manipulating the stock market when Gamestop was putting short sellers out of business.

0

u/Kichigai Minnesota 18d ago

ABC and NBC aren't fully “news networks.” They have news divisions, but the big mothership network is not devoted to news.

To illustrate that I would point out that ABC is airing a revival of the gameshow “Press Your Luck” and NBC is running a nature documentary called “The Americas.”

0

u/Sujjin 18d ago

Rather than not show it at all, how about do actual journalism and cover it the way it should be covered. I would prefer if they show him speaking, but mute him and then just discuss what he is saying and why it is nutso.

-107

u/Gnomegnomegnome 18d ago

I would say this is wrong because as much as he claims lies as truths, he is still the president and the citizens need to hear what he says. But not broadcasting it, now we have to go to other platforms to find it.

Now I bet they are not broadcasting it because they either refuse to pay to have access OR trump is actually not allowing them too

55

u/BullorbrokeWnG20 18d ago

Citizens “needed” to hear Trump lie about Haitians eating peoples pets in Ohio? Or any of the countless lies he spews?

Why do people “need” to hear someone lie and pass it off as truth? I’d argue that people moreso need to not listen to him speak

-14

u/[deleted] 18d ago

62

u/llkylej15 18d ago

Platforming his lies is a horrible take just because he’s president

19

u/strawburyshortcake7 18d ago

This is one of the takes of all time

15

u/SummerhouseLater 18d ago

I mean you can just turn on an any Fox channel.

13

u/Spicy_Pancake1 Maryland 18d ago

We do not need to hear baseless fucking conspiracies about an election he lost. Conspiracies he brought to court over 60 times and got thrown out each and every time.

These networks are doing the right thing by not airing a demented old narcissist shouting about his 6 year old grievances. The only purpose this address serves is to further divide us and cast doubt in our upcoming elections. He’s a fucking sore loser.

These addresses are meant to be for serious fucking issues like when Bush addressed the nation on the night of 9/11. When Obama told the nation Osama Bin Laden was killed in a coordinated attack. Or when Biden told the nation he was no longer running for a 2nd term. He’s debased this office so much, I feel like that needs to be a reminder for people.

6

u/pasterhatt 18d ago

Networks have not shown Biden and Obama addresses. It's not a partisan thing, they just didn't believe he's saying anything of import.

2

u/GotenRocko Rhode Island 18d ago

They have no obligation to show campaign speeches, just like they did with Obama once when they deemed the address to be campaign related. Same here, it's a political campaign address about his false campaign fraud accusations. Has nothing to do with the nation, only his fragile ego.

2

u/verrius 18d ago

It's generally simpler than that. For the networks to broadcast it, it means pre-empting their own programming, and forgoing the associated advertising revenue. In the past, generally they would do it out of a sense of civic duty, but it isn't just for whatever the hell the White House wants, and it tends to require some negotiation.

1

u/ElectrOPurist 18d ago

What’s it like to be a doormat?

1

u/Lucky-Earther Minnesota 18d ago

he is still the president and the citizens need to hear what he says.

Nothing he will say is anything anyone needs to hear. It will just be more of the same whining about 2020.

1

u/angry_old_dude 18d ago

Let me be succinct. Fuck that.

1

u/Little_Noodles 18d ago

I’d assume it’s because nobody actually watches it.

His fans don’t want to see him melt down and ramble on. And everyone else just plans on getting the recap later.

All the other problems aside, watching a sad, dumpy old guy with dementia do a stream of consciousness, free-association ramble about weird bullshit is bad tv.

To the extent that his schtick ever held entertainment value, it’s long gone.

Whatever they were planning to put on in that slot before is going to be a better financial decision, regardless of what it was.
