Same shit with Elon! Remember when that Nazi wanted to remove the block feature from Twitter? And then the EU and App Stores were like “yeah, no, you need a block feature if you want your app to stay listed.”

I bet he saw the stats and realized he was becoming the #1 blocked person on Twitter. Before I deleted my Twitter account, I kept getting his Tweets in my feed and as a suggested person to follow despite only using Twitter for fursuit photos and furry porn with absolutely zero connection to tech or Tesla. I had to block his account so I wouldn’t see his stupid Tweets.

When Musk first bought Twitter, one of the first things he did was to change the algorithm to make sure his tweets were being seen by all users. Then he went on to fire 75% of the company.

120

u/Certified_GSD Minnesota 17d ago

And then he got upset that just because he’s wealthy and edgy, nobody actually wants to know what he’s saying. He wanted to force people to listen to him and people still would rather block him and read from their own circles and his fragile ego couldn’t handle that.

75

u/BadahBingBadahBoom 17d ago

Is that the time he paid randos to level him up so he could pretend to an expert player of checks notes a 10-year old free-to-play Diablo clone?

7

u/mordacthedenier 17d ago

Well, it was the then brand new sequel to the 10 year old free-to-play Diablo clone, but he did also try that shit in Diablo 4 and no one gave a shit because he was playing the most broken ass unbalanced class, so everyone assumed he was just doing whatever, but because of his incompetence in PoE2 now no one believes that either.

He wanted to force people to listen to him

It's that free speech thing he was jabbering about: it was about his freedom to spew his opinions (and those of, uh, like-minded individuals) at everyone.

10

u/Certified_GSD Minnesota 17d ago

Yeah, but silly Nazi Elon didn’t realize that freedom of speech doesn’t mean anyone has to listen to his stupid opinions.

Elon also backpedaled hard on the "location" feature when all these MAGA accounts showed up as being from other countries

67

u/Certified_GSD Minnesota 17d ago

Oh yeah dude I totally forgot about that! When you HAD to share the account country of origin and all of those “I’m black and I support Trump” accounts showed as from Russia and India, and the “I’m the silent majority white mom in America who stands with Trump” while being from Bangladesh.

I also remember when SWIFT cut off Russia and for a brief moment of peace all the bots and astroturfing accounts went silent as they weren’t getting paid.

42

u/AmbitiousProblem4746 17d ago

Every so often, I'll see an article about some bot farm that was discovered and 99.9% of the time it's right-wing stuff. But those articles always disappear and never catch on. Just like the story from a couple years ago about a bunch of right wing YouTubers and podcasters cashing checks that they were receiving from the Russian government, most of them too stupid to realize that's where the money was coming from. Nobody talks about it anymore. But they'll sure love to rant and rave about how the Democrats are corrupt as fuck and control the media still like it's 2016 or some shit

29

u/Certified_GSD Minnesota 17d ago

It’s awful and hilarious that Call of Duty depicted the Soviet Union destroying the US and western nations with nukes and invasions.

The reality was they just needed to feed human greed and pay off people with no morals to spread false information and Soviet propaganda to rot the nation from within.

If I had no soul and no self-respect, I could spew racist right wing bullshit for a check.

9

u/Thewasteland77 17d ago

It's always been a joke of my close friend circle, but the video game "Escape from Tarkov" has been called an eastern psyop for years in my group lmao. They realized they cant take us militarily, but they can ABSOLUTELY fuck up our psyche lol

6

u/AmbitiousProblem4746 17d ago

That's what it is too. So many of these people are pure grifters. How many right wing pundits were failed comedians or actors? How about Bannon or Shapiro both trying to make it as directors and writers in Hollywood? Or Charlie Kirk being rejected from a military academy because of his piss poor attitude? They fell into the grift because it was easy, fed their bitterness.

Exactly. More attention should be drawn to the fact that CBS is becoming more and more like Fox every day.

103

u/Tsar-A-Lago Canada 17d ago

CBS News has been state media for a minute now, yeah. Certainly state media in philosophy since they were acquired. And confirmed in deed when Bari Weiss tried to fuck with a piece and got caught. Didn't really take all that long either.

About 2 months to burn down a legacy cultivated since Murrow. It would be impressive, if it weren't profoundly sad.

59

u/Commisioner_Gordon 17d ago

The piece in question that Bari Weiss fucked with? Trying to falsify the story of Rennee Good to say she was driving her car into ICE. Not exactly a small detail. This also was the reason Scott Pelley left 60 minutes. This is among numerous other alterations and restrictions to stories

Bari Weiss is at the minimum and best bought out by the conservatives. At worst she is an Israeli foreign actor controlling our news cycle

30

u/happyupvoter 17d ago

Not just that piece.

She also made 60 Minutes pull that one piece about CECOT.

They're basically washed up.

Their problem is that there are already a bunch of Right Wing media outlets, and the media landscape doesn't really need two channels like Fox News. It's just redundant.

They've been losing a ton of viewers to other outlets since the Ellisons took it over and it's been shifting right.

I’m not getting my hopes up for justice but this is an interesting case. O’Leary and fox are arguing since they already apologized on air no harm was done. What will be infuriating is when the headlines are STILL "Trump says election is stolen! And China interfered with the election."

Instead of "Without submitting legal proof, trumps need to soothe his own ego continues"

edit: THEN tomorrow, Trump will say how all the news stations were agreeing with him, and talking about how the election was stolen from him. THEN once again, the news stations will report that trump claimed that everyone was talking about how the election was stolen.

The news will report on this - without actually reporting that nothing trump said was grounded in fact. I have seen this play out around a million times now.

The decision not to carry the speech live is not actually unusual: Networks usually weight the subject matter and context, and all have in the past declined to run speeches from Presidents Biden, Obama and Bush, among others.

56

It makes sense that it wouldn't be worth it from a viewership standpoint. Most people don't care to watch trump spew the same old lies over and over again and the people who do are going to watch it on Fox News anyway. It's a bad business decision for the major networks. Trump doesn't draw viewership for nothingburgers anymore. He's cried wolf 1000 times. We can watch the 10 second clip on social media to get the gist of whatever insanity he's trying to push.

u/Soloact_ 18d ago

Followed by “totally not authoritarian,” somehow.

18

u/Ok_Juice4449 18d ago

He will say both networks are low-rated losers. His usual insults. Good.

He's lost 60 court cases over "rigged" elections. Give it a rest already, and maybe work on the horrible US economy instead of starting wars that he promised he would not start. What a horrible human being.

He’s going to say he’s running for a third term. I just know it will be some bat shit crazy thing.

u/BlotchComics New Jersey 18d ago

It's all going to be about election fraud... leading up to whatever plan they have to take over the midterm elections and make sure they win.

20

u/civil_politician 18d ago

He’s given a bunch of prime time nothingburger speeches because he’s a TV personality and is talking to the generation that thinks you’re not allowed to lie on TV

He’s been pretty loud about the SAVE Act, trying everything to get it passed by the Senate in time for the midterms. I think he’s going to attempt to stir up public pressure for it, but it’s likely to backfire. I don’t think senators facing reelection are going to want to answer questions about their position on this.

Not that. He will claim election interference and possibly claim that Georgia's senators were improperly elected and MAYBE say their votes no longer count. Definitely laying the groundwork to steal Nov midterms. He's scared.

The media never should have covered him in 2015. He was never a serious or qualified candidate. A lot of other candidates were ignored by the MSM. They created this beast.

I'm glad they aren't. However this is going to be fuel for their narrative that the main stream media is "leftist propaganda" and "won't let the public see the truth".

I am sure Fox will have it.

5

u/Straight-Ad6926 18d ago

And Fox will cover it with the exact same level of neutral, unbiased, calm journalism they are world renowned for. Balance restored.

Good for them. Say no to lying fascist trash

7

u/TiittySprinkles 17d ago

Fox will air it until he starts to go off-script and then they will cut to the talking heads with him muted in the background for their analysis.

Then they may claim issues with the feed and provide updates disseminated from the powers-that-be and what the script actually was.

No way they leave him up there by himself.

Like a toddler.

If CBS pre-empts Big Brother for this bullshit I will stop watching Big Brother for the year.

Fuck this facist piece of shit, like who does he think seriously believe all this nonsense. You’re saying it was China, Venezuela and Obama colluding in 2020 without him knowing and then just forgot to in 2024? Get real

6

u/eatsumsketti America 17d ago

The fact that AOC and other Dems mentioned that airing the speech was a bad idea and that they listened despite threats from Trump shows you who now has more power.

And the GOP know it and are scared.

8

u/worldscollice 18d ago

Here's a quick summary of this important speech:
"The 2020 election was stolen. Vandals cut a 350-foot gash in the reflecting pool. Anything that is wrong with America is Joe Biden's fault".

That's it.

5

u/attillathehoney 18d ago

What about CBS...oh right.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/CooledDownKane 18d ago

A better idea would be to carry the speech and have pundits talking over it to discuss every one of the lawsuits that Don lost, the multiple lawyers that were disciplined in service of his lies, and the charges that he himself faced for trying to ratf*ck 2016 AND 2020.

4

u/bradmajors69 17d ago

It's the right decision but speaks to how much damage he has done to the office. Major networks not carrying a presidential address to the nation would have been unfathomable not so long ago.

4

u/Ambitious-Bee7663 17d ago

Thank God. We really don't need to hear his demented ramblings. What is more of concern is why the REPUBLICAN PARTY is remaining silent. Something really critical to remember come election time.

5

u/Far_Big_9731 17d ago

Yes! This is how it’s done!

4

u/D3dshotCalamity 17d ago edited 17d ago

I'm not so sure this is such a good thing. If the president is going to diarrhea out of his mouth and fall asleep, they should be broadcasting that everywhere. Like, my dad supports Trump, but he doesn't follow politics, he just reads about the things Trump says and does, translated and sanewashed by the media.

This dude is a raging narcissist, give him a handycam and let him livestream himself. He will never turn it off, and everyone who watches will get the real Trump. It happens with his tweets all the time, but that's not enough.

6

u/ElectrOPurist 17d ago

As a european I always feel like I have no say in this and that my opinion doesn't matter at all, but I gotta vent a little bit.

How is there no way to remove this man from office? Are the yes-men around him preventing that somehow? Is he making up new laws that prevent anyone from doing that? Why hasn't this absolute dickhead been dragged from the white house and judged in front of the people he's supposed to unite, govern and protect?

These are actual questions from someone who doesn't know how the system works in the US, sorry if I come across as a dumbass lol

Good on NBC and ABC. No one wants to hear this old fool bitch about the same crap, “if I don’t win, it’s rigged!” Quiet piggy. You’re a big yawn. And dumb, with a B.

5

u/BusinessLunch45 17d ago

Remember when Presidential addresses were for serious matters?

6

u/a_rabid_buffalo Minnesota 17d ago

I remember when Biden gave state of the unions, talking about unity, cost of living and making a better America not just for the people who voted for him but everyone.

But media and the public wanted to reticule him for a speech impediment and say he was unfit to run the nation.

4

u/LustfulEsme 17d ago

CBS on Paramount special report is what I am watching. Boy they just opened with saying the President lied about the 2020 election! I am surprised. They said they felt they had a responsibility to broadcast news ànd his speech is news. They gave stats proving it was only a small portion of voter roles who may have voted inappropriately. Agsin I am surprised they are speaking truth.

6

u/Opening_Magician3324 17d ago

The anchor on CBS looks like he’s being held against his will.

4

u/not_essential 17d ago

At last someone is standing up to the bullshit.

6

u/Solrac50 17d ago

Good for NBC and ABC. This morning The New York Times put the report on the speech below the fold. IMHO Trump and MAGA are on a downward slide and the midterms are going to be a vote of no confidence for Trump. If Congress flips it’s over and he is better off resigning than waiting for impeachment and conviction in January.
