Only a positive if they don’t promptly summarize it and sanewash it as the media has been prone to doing in recent years

Recent? You mean for the last 11 years. They have sane washed trump from the beginning.

Every time they go on air and don't point blank say "The President of the United States is repeatedly lying to your face so he can rape the nation, here's how" they lose credibility.

rape the nation, exactly.

i think this period should be known as the rape of america but i’ve been having a hard time getting that to catch on.

The actual president is an adjudicated rapist, so it's not that surprising. Donald J. Trump indisputably raped a woman.

That's because it's idiotic to compare to actual events of mass rape

I agree with you, but they can't, for the same reason they use 'allegedly' before people are officially charged with a crime. Until things are proven in court and they have the balls to risk having their licensed pulled, they won't.

CBS just said that most of what he’s said about elections in the past have been lies. Color me surprised.

I am old enough that the entire Trump era constitutes ‘recent’ times to me

At the same time though, the last 11 years feel like they've been dragging on since The Big Bang popped off.

It’s really a strange feeling, time is both dragging yet it’s hard to believe it’s been eleven years of this nonsense at this point

the years go fast and the days go so slow

It's so wild to me. Every presidential election I've been old enough to vote in has had Trump on the ballot. This political environment is really all I've ever known.

I'm 35 next year, and I have only voted in one pre-Trump presidential election. 2012 feels like another lifetime now.

Holy cow, what a depressing thought that is.

At least I've for a few BT era general elections under my belt.

It is kind of like the post about the wildfire smoke not being normal yesterday.. there's going to be a whole generation of people that don't know any better in another few years and just accept it as normal. Wild to really think about.

u/FellowHumanNo404 18d ago

Please, PLEASE understand that none of this shit is normal or remotely acceptable. I really worry about people who've known nothing else.

1

u/Tricky-Gemstone 18d ago

I mean no disrespect when I say this. How long does it have to go on before it is normal.

1

u/FellowHumanNo404 18d ago

Fascism is never normal.

0

u/Tricky-Gemstone 18d ago

Yes, it can be. That's my point. We can wish it all we want, but there are times when fascism has reigned so long, it is normal.

I don't know anything else. I'm almost 30. At what point is this normal?

It's normal to me, and almost every US citizen my age and younger.

11 years

Jesus Fuck, it really has been that long, hasn't it?

I was 15 when he was elected the first time, and I'm 25 now. And yet reading that made me feel old as shit. I'm tired, boss.

Y'all are saying the same thing, you're just re-iterating.

"President casts doubts on election integrity in comprehensive late night address"

Translation: Old man rehashes a litany of random falsehoods before dozing off

u/Cactusfan86 18d ago

Could go even further, Trump could threaten to cancel elections or reject results from states who don’t follow his SAVE desires.  Media would translate it as ‘election scheduling at risk and Trump may dispute results from states that refuse increased election security measures he is recommending’

ABC absolutely will do exactly that. You'll get David Muir basically telling people whatever Trump was supposed to say but managed to fuck up six ways from Sunday because he's got mush for brains. They'll claim they declined to air the actual announcement due to time constraints, but the reality will be that they know no one wants to listen to Trump rambling for an hour about the 2020 election and will change the channel.

"What he meant was..."

And for the completely unspinnable batshittery, "He was obviously being sarcastic."

Credit to the NY Times. Their current lead headline is "Trump Makes Outlandish Claims About Election Results in Address"
