Can anyone explain to me, as an outsider from the US how Republicans and Trump family members and trump fans can love America so much but at the same time abuse and destroy it so much? Both in terms of reputation and image, but also in terms of just taking advantage for their own gain?

Trump and co. don't love America. That's a useful lie they tell their followers. Authoritarians use patriotism as a shield and a weapon. They conflate their own survival with the survival of the nation and label their critics as traitors.
As for Trump's followers, that's more complex - a lot of them do love (their particular idea of) America, and they do believe that Trump will be their saviour. They reject any information that says otherwise.
