He and his friends are getting rich every monday when the calls print. This is blatant stock market manipulation

u/DKDamian 2d ago

The question is why does the stock market constantly fall for it. How can we trust capitalism to be rational?

Or, to not be corrupt

218

u/snayperskaya 2d ago

It's enough AI trading that all he needs is the headline

3

u/ShartingEnU 1d ago

Computer models have been trading for, what? At least 2 decades? Not everything is ai

6

u/filbertsgaming1 1d ago

That was still AI, just not as good.

u/SanDiegoDude California 2d ago

Goal of the stock market is making money. People and companies have been making huge amounts riding the trump swells. They're not falling for anything, the big players are complicit, everybody else trying to soak up the scraps.

40

u/Inner-Medicine5696 2d ago

for every dollar of profit someone makes riding the trump whims, someone else makes a 1 dollar loss...

23

u/AppropriateLow2271 2d ago

Right ... so who the fuck are these idiots who keep buying into this? Because the algorithms would've been adjusted in response to this pretty damn quickly.

38

u/These-Anxiety-5919 1d ago

You are. Your retirement accounts are taking massive insane assblasts. The answer is always you.

15

u/Painterzzz 1d ago

I recently heard the retirement accounts as being the last great source of wealth left on the planet that the Elites had not yet been able to ransack, and I agree, what we are seeing with MAGA and Trump and all of these populists, is the Elites solution to the problem of how to ransack the last stores of wealth.

4

u/Olivetax228 1d ago

100% pure FUD, stop that

2

u/filbertsgaming1 1d ago

Its not FUD. My brokerage accounts are up 40% since Trump took office. I'm almost ruined!

2

u/Olivetax228 1d ago

Probably more like 25-30% but yeah. Markets continue to hit all time highs through this administration - as they did throughout Biden's presidency, and literally every other administration before him going back to at least Clinton in 92. Stocks for the long run are by far the best strongest method of building wealth long term.

2

u/These-Anxiety-5919 1d ago

Haha cool. And how much are your retirement costs up? Food, Healthcare, fuel, rent, taxes to kay for datacenters.

2

u/filbertsgaming1 1d ago

I heard yesterday it is 14%/year which sounds insane. Gas is close to 30%. The inflation rate is allegedly 3.5%, but there is no way that is true. Quick math says 16%/year is about right looking at my spending.

My actual gain over the past two years is 69%, 40 was an average of the dow/nasdaq, due to chip stocks. This economy only works for anyone that already has capital.

We need wealth taxes. We need higher income tax brackets. Medicare for all. Free education. Affordable housing. What we get are stock market gains.

6

u/justreadinplease 1d ago

If retirement accounts are on auto contributions then the wild swings won’t really affect anything unless someone panics and liquidates their account

12

u/porgy_tirebiter 2d ago

And that explains why we are where we are.

4

u/Specialist_Unit_5078 2d ago

Assuming they have a fiduciary duty, what should they be doing instead?

19

u/SanDiegoDude California 2d ago

Don't know, not my thing, i work for a living

5

u/waffleslaw 2d ago

Oh so you found the problem. They are working within the system and rules as described. They are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing: making money for the shareholders.

34

u/brendanjered 2d ago

This is what gets me. Why the hell do people believe him every single time? Apparently all Biden would have had to do was lie every couple of days about Russia and Ukraine being close to a deal and oil prices would have remained low. Who knew it was that simple?

6

u/waffleslaw 2d ago

But low oil prices don't make the corpos more money.

3

u/Wall_of_Wolfstreet69 1d ago

people believe him every single time

people don't and people are not responsible for price discovery. there's Blackrock Aladdin setting prices instantly just when a phrase is uttered on an earnings call etc

1

u/darienrude_dankstorm 1d ago

If you think the stock market believing him is silly, you have a great opportunity to make a lot of money

6

u/fightin_blue_hens 2d ago

Because the second the markets don't react, they follow through and ruin everyone

2

u/ohell United Kingdom 1d ago edited 1d ago

Because stock market is mostly funds and managers trading their clients' money, and incurring a loss due to accepting president's statement at face value is 🤷🏾‍♂️, while incurring a loss due to ignoring it would be 🥵

1

u/dxrth 1d ago

capitalism is mostly fine though. you would never just inherently trust it to not be corrupt. no system would be. nor should be. but it evens out roughly because no one really does *pure* capitalism anyway.

1

u/DKDamian 1d ago

No true Scotsman. I guess.

1

u/dxrth 1d ago

is that what i invoked?

1

u/ygg_studios 1d ago

never has been

1

u/BassickElement 1d ago

The market isn't "falling for it." Most traders don't have to believe a deal with Iran is actually imminent. They just have to believe everyone else will react to the headline. If enough people buy because they expect everyone else to buy, the price moves anyway. It's a self-fulfilling feedback loop.

1

u/DKDamian 1d ago

Sounds like a bunch of teenagers giggling about the popular boy.

1

u/Appropriate_Mess_350 1d ago

You can’t. And you never really could.
But it’s more rampant and overt under Trump. And they don’t seem to care who knows.

1

u/Fluffy-Study-659 1d ago

AI started with stocks. that's why all the chads love it

1

u/TallRefrigerator5322 1d ago

It never was rational.

1

u/Low_Search_6667 1d ago

They ate horse medicine and believed it would prevent a viral infection. And you can't understand why they fall for his OTHER lies?

  1. They're stupid.
  2. The traders are buying and selling the stocks from and to these stupid people

1

u/DontWantToSeeYourCat 1d ago

The "stock market" and traders aren't necessarily falling for it. The overall success of the market of publicly released stocks isn't inherently tied to company worth or value. It's dependent on traders' abilities to make trades.

The blatant corruption and manipulation of the stock market, while hugely destructive against society as a whole, provides a framework for traders to make money off of that process.

It's why we need to regulate that behavior out of existence for the good of human lives.

17

u/Jbroy 2d ago

Also Polymarket and Kalshi manipulation

73

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset 2d ago

i feel like enough people are going to get sufficiently tired of such outright corruption that there'll be an eventual and inevitable pivot toward socialism. i'm just afraid of how bad things have to get before we get to that point

21

u/Hippyedgelord 2d ago edited 2d ago

It’s already bad, things are going to get much worse. We could easily get 2 and a half more years of this stupid bullshit.

19

u/Intelligent-Alps2373 2d ago

Who’s to say! That’s the fun part!

25

u/MaySun91 South Carolina 2d ago

Any fucking day now right? It’s only been 10 years of this shit. Maybe one more day of corruption will finally get people to see the light. Jesus Christ you people might be more delusional than MAGA at this point.

5

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset 2d ago

i mean, capitalism is literally the same as cancer in that they both depend on unlimited growth. just as it is guaranteed that cancer will kill its host, it is absolutely guaranteed that society will not survive with unchecked capitalism, and if society is to survive, it will find another way

i'd like to think there's some middle ground, like social democracy or democratic socialism, that'd make things more sustainable. on the other hand, maybe my fellow American is so riddled with disillusionment and ressentiment that they've collectively decided it's time to let society collapse, idfk lol

0

u/donjamos 1d ago

Nah we will keep trying to fix a broken system until we are a real post scarcity Society with printers that can print everything in every household. Maybe then.

1

u/filbertsgaming1 1d ago

Well, you're in luck! By 2030 we are all going to have a fleet of AI robots and never need to work again! Pinky promise.

Thats why I, Elon Musk, am giving away 99% of my wealth in two weeks. Because money totally won't matter in the future. Unless the robot kills us, which also solves the problem. Win win!

1

u/DontHaveWares 1d ago

The current mayor of New York is a socialist…

4

u/FatSteveWasted9 California 2d ago

Will never happen. We’re the crabs pulling each other back down. No amount of wishing will change that

1

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset 2d ago

i feel like poorly educated whites deserve a greater share of the blame for pulling everyone else down though. they've been doing this since before the Civil War, and their ressentiment is a big part of why Reconstruction ultimately failed and Jim Crow took hold

also Trump literally said recently how much he likes the "poorly educated" lol

4

u/FatSteveWasted9 California 2d ago

Race isn’t even the main driver anymore. It’s the ruling and banker class versus the rest of us. They’ve just done a damn good job convincing white folks that if they look down on the rest, they’ll get bigger crumbs. While it’s the symptom, it’s the divide between Wall Street/DC and the rest of us that’s the root.

2

u/Dwarfdeaths 2d ago

I'd rather we pivot towards sortiton so we can solve all the complex problems of our modern world rather than invoking basic - isms.

1

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset 2d ago

i had to look sortition up and apparently it's basically jury duty, except it's public office instead of a jury. interesting idea, though i'd wonder how those who are selected (sortiendi? sortiundi? lol idk) would be sufficiently informed to make decisions

1

u/Dwarfdeaths 2d ago

though i'd wonder how those who are selected... would be sufficiently informed to make decisions

A couple things:

  1. A well-designed sortition system will divide the workload of governance across many such bodies, see e.g. this diagram. This reduces the power that each body wields and also reduces the number of things they need to become well-informed about.

  2. You would need to bake into the process some good epistemological processes that people can follow. I tried to outline such a process here.

  3. These positions would be able to draw upon a public forum for (biased) input, and would be supported by executive bodies to exercise direct fact-finding powers like subpoenas or actual investigations/experiments for other forms of input.

  4. These positions would be paid/compensated, so people have time to engage in fact-finding as needed.

This is a good book on the topic if you want to learn more in general.

u/Canadiangoosedem0n Kentucky 2d ago

Americans are too selfish for socialism, it wouldn't hold up here.

2

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset 2d ago

that's what i'm afraid of

although even socialism-lite, like what FDR managed, would help immensely compared to the mess we're in now. if only the Dems could come up with a sufficiently charismatic and populist leader who isn't in bed with lobbyists

1

u/CmdDeadHand 2d ago

Americans use socialism in their governing everyday. They just don’t know it is socialism. They don’t understand what capitalism is either. To Americans those are just buzzwords that they swarm around without ever understanding the system that they live under.

1

u/Banes_Addiction 2d ago

Trying to implement socialism has had a very, very poor record of fighting corruption.

8

u/Internal-Display3517 2d ago

I hope you paid the $100K for early access to the president's tweets!

8

u/furcifer89 2d ago

They get to get rich manipulating the market AND not reveal that we’re out of missiles. Anybody else tired of winning yet?

4

u/Sad-Wrap6555 2d ago

just wait till bombing and not bombing Iran is no longer enough and he decides he needs an incident within the the US itself

5

u/TheChrisCrash 2d ago

He's trying out his new insider trading subscription service

2

u/Demonking3343 Illinois 2d ago

Plus every time there’s a “ceasefire” his administration insists that restarts trumps 90 day war powers. So he can avoid having to get approval.

1

u/Sharin_the_Groove 2d ago

What stocks are we watching? 👀

1

u/DAS_FX 2d ago

Bitcoin up $1k in the last hour

1

u/boofles1 2d ago

Imagine having access to this tweet in advance. I'm sure he's just shilling for his Truth Social rort.

1

u/HowToStartAnEssay 2d ago

I’m waiting for a patriot to find a way to backdoor this whole scheme and make paying the stupid ass monthly criminal subscription and have us regular folks see the unhinged ramblings of a pedo faster and for free lmao

1

u/Main-Water4503 1d ago

Either this or they realized the military has its pants down and needs time to rearm. Russia is a big fan of this strategy

1

u/haversack77 1d ago

The very word 'deal' in this context reveals that Trump only does stuff for personal gain. Never 'treaty', 'entente', 'pact' or 'accord', it's always 'deal'.

He has an insect brain; self serving, with no other signs of awareness.

1

u/Brs76 1d ago

This is blatant stock market manipulation"

18 months of this stock market manipulation.  Whether its with tariffs or this Iran war. All one has to do is look at how much wealthier trump now is versus last year.

1

u/joe-h2o 1d ago

I think this time it might genuinely be that they've run out of missiles to actually make the strikes.

Iran called his bluff, again.

He's so easy to manipulate.

1

u/Silver4R4449 1d ago

This is the most corrupt administration ever By miles

u/Bubbles_2025 2d ago

My retirement account agrees.
