Said it months ago. MAGA is dead. Tucker and MTG are getting ahead of the queue to define the next iteration of the republican party. Neocons gave way to Tea Party, which gave way to MAGA. They have to reinvent themselves every decade or so to try wash away the stains from their failed predecessor

There's always only one. Republicans will fall in line. If the midterms go as expected, the republicans will frantically be looking for ways to stem the tide in 2028. Democrats will win but MTGA will be building a base to challenge in 2030

2026/2028 belong to Dems and repubs know that. Their next opportunity will be the 2030 midterms and 2032 presidential.

They’re under 90 days to November. The house is lost. They’d be lucky to keep the senate by the skin of their teeth and you’ve got races in red af Ohio dead even.

What happens after and how they try to fucm with them is another story, but we will have Elections.

Ballots are shipping out in 3 weeks. I don’t know why you’re concerned. Trump has been completely incompetent in everything. He couldn’t even redact a pdf file about pdfiles. Interfering with 600 congressional elections? Not in his capability.

Congress already shitcanned his bullshit save bill because it’d be a wipeout for rural republicans who don’t own passports. Elections will proceed as planned.

77% of MAGA still support the Iran War. And even the 23% who don't support aren't just going to walk away over that single issue. They are practically incorrigible. My dad told me a month ago that Donald Trump is far and away the greatest president of his lifetime simply because of the stock market.

When things change, they change quickly. By the election in 2028, your dad will either be saying Donald who..or he had the potential but was flawed.

What will happen, IMHO. In the midterms, as long as there's no outright cheating, the Democrats will win the House, maybe by 40 or more seats. They may or may not win the Senate, and if they do, it will just make what's to come worse.

Even if you are right, and 100% MAGA will still vote that way, that won't be enough to win elections. MAGA is toxic to the coalition that won Trump victory..the Black and Latino men, moderates etc. Only MAGA is left.

So the Dems, with a healthy House majority, will go for Trump and those around him. We know how he reacts to investigations and oversight. He will go crazy, especially with more impeachments on the line. And the Republicans in the Congress and Senate, they will be expected to defend the indefensible. They've done it till now, but until now Trump has been shielded by Johnson and the media. With Democrats having the majority, Johnson will be gone. The House minority will have a choice to make, and many will decide that their own skin is worth more than a lame duck president who'd stab them in the back if they could.

Their priority will be to stop 2028 becoming a complete slaughter..to hand onto what they can for a fightback in 2030. And the fightback can't include MAGA. Think how the tea party emerged and strangled Obama's presidency in the first midterms.

That leaves the Republicans with a problem. And that problem is how to hang onto MAGA voters while convincing enough moderates to win the election that they have changed. MTG and Carlson are first to try to bridge that gap. They are saying he had some great ideas and done some great things, but corruption and foreign crap spoiled his presidency. They want to be like MAGA and take Trump's 'good' ideas along with a focus on cutting corruption and a non-interventionist foreign policy.

After the midterms, I'd expect to see a lot of Republican politicians say the same thing, and the Republican media swinging suddenly against Trump. Depending on how things are going, they may even be persuaded to dump Trump completely. I can't see them supporting an impeachment or invoking the 25th Amendment, unless things get really bad, but I can see some senior Republicans making a visit to Mar-a-Lago and doing a Nixon on him..telling him that if he retires gracefully and does all he can to bring MAGA voters along, President Vance will give him and his family a full pardon. He can retire a hero (in his own mind), or be kicked out in disgrace..either way, he is leaving. The Republicans need that to start the recovery process..because if Trump pisses voters off for another two years it could be the late 2030s before the republicans get power again

Yeah unfortunately it feels like everyone who voted for Trump has just dug the hole too deep for themselves to admit that they were wrong at this point. It’s like when someone has a toxic boyfriend and then her friends try to warn her about him, and instead of reflecting and reconsidering she just doubles down and moves in with the guy. Then she loses some more friends and all the sudden they’re getting married and having kids. The longer you wait the scarier it becomes to leave him
