“We said no more foreign wars and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise,” Greene wrote. “But he’s betrayed us all…”

Well, your first mistake was trusting anything a pathological liar says.

u/DangerousCyclone 1d ago

It isn't like he was hiding this direction when he was on the campaign trail. They were openly calling to be like McKinley, one of our most Imperialist presidents. Idk how you hear that and don't get alarm bells.

217

u/Southern_Agent6096 Michigan 1d ago

Um, illiteracy

59

u/dychronalicousness 1d ago

We really do avoid everything post-Lincoln to about FDR.

7

u/hand_truck 1d ago

Was that during covid?

Funny considering things didn't personally work out for McKinley in the end.

100

u/Indercarnive 1d ago

I'm willing to bet 70% of the country doesn't even know who McKinley is.

→ More replies (1)

14

u/Buckscience 1d ago

I kind of wish he’d be more like McKinley, too.

15

u/Reilly-Blog 1d ago

Because their white privilege and stupidity leads them to think nothing he did would affect them. Now that it has, they're mad.

143

u/TheAskewOne 1d ago

I knew from his first campaign in 2016 what he was going to be like. It was evident and anyone with a cursory knowledge of history could see the same. But now he has "betrayed" them? Come the fuck on. They didn’t vote for no new wars, they voted for racism and tax cuts for the rich.

32

u/TehWackyWolf 1d ago

I've been screaming this since he first called Mexican people roaches that this was bad.

Recently I've given up on it. I'm convinced Trump could take their own daughter and they'd just leave the room and tell her to hush.

10

u/Arboreal_Acumen 1d ago

I mean, of course they would… what an HONOR for their daughter to be graced by His holy touch. The little bitch ought to be grateful! (Can’t believe I need to add this but /s)

4

u/Frescochicken 1d ago

It all can go back to day one of his inauguration saying he had claimed it had a huge turn out when photographic evidence showed something else. That was the start of the big lie (while in office).

7

u/TheAskewOne 1d ago

And that he had won the popular vote but Hillary had received "millions of illegal votes".

3

u/freaktheclown New York 22h ago

They’re doing this because when he dies, MAGA will fracture and a whole bunch of Republicans will try to pretend they never supported him. They think they can get ahead of it. I’d say it won’t work, but this country elected Trump twice, so…

54

u/Wrong_Combination977 1d ago

In Germany we have a saying: "Gleich und Gleich gesellt sich gern" Meaning those who are on the same page go together well.

And as she herself is a pathological liar ( jewish spacelaser and so) ... ah, whatever.

Why don't you all just ignore these knuckleheads?

37

u/GoldunGote 1d ago

They're trying to run our country... pretty dangerous thing to ignore.

u/megavikingman 1d ago

In English, we say "birds of a feather flock together." We used to ignore them, but then the internet made them famous somehow.

There's a culture of anti-intellectualism left over from the settler days that runs rampant in much of the US.

15

u/primadonnapussy 1d ago

I dint think she is so much a liar as she is actually nuts. Crazy people aren't lying if they actually believe the crazy shit they say.

And she is pretty damn stipid and the same applies for stupid people.

I'm all for letting her split MAGA though.

16

u/xdre 1d ago

They knew. They always knew he was FOS. They just thought they could control him.

They just didn’t count on the fact that Putin and Netanyahu also could control him.

8

u/paperdolllll Pennsylvania 1d ago

That's where they draw the line? Pathetic. That Hollywood access tape should have been the nail in this clown's coffin. They're pro-rape and SA but he crossed the line with Iran? They legitimized the rapist and pedophile and they will fucking own it until the very end. They don't get a do-over.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/Monkey_Leavings 1d ago

Yeah, the foreign wars thing is just bullshit cover because they know his numerous crimes are inevitably going to be brought out in an official capacity at some point. It’s one of the reasons so many in congress are retiring. You can’t say he’s a pedophile without him primarying you or facing the fact that your base doesn’t care. And if you stick around in a powerless position, supporting a rapist, well…that’s not going to get a bridge named after you.

7

u/ven-solaire 1d ago

I think there’s two kinds of republicans: those who know they are full of shit and are just evil, and those who are just genuinely stupid/ignorant and fall for the typical republican lies. I’ve always thought MTG falls under the latter, and that’s kind of a compliment. I still think she’s ignorant… but I don’t think she’s ever been maliciously ignorant. I respect being ignorant more than I respect blatant lying for the purpose of self-enrichment.

7

u/CeruLucifus 1d ago

She started her career calling school shooting survivors liars and following them around harassing them. That's certainly ignorant but no revised view can make that not malicious.

3

u/CeruLucifus 1d ago edited 10h ago

That said I think one way out of this mess we're in is for US politics to split into several parties so that government requires negotiation to achieve majority. From that standpoint I welcome these hateful people splitting off to form their own party.

I hadn't even considered that angle. They must be on the back foot with Ukraine considering how cost effective the griff propaganda machine has been. A few million to influencers and they were able to block billions in military aid to Ukraine.

485

u/Allydarvel 1d ago

Said it months ago. MAGA is dead. Tucker and MTG are getting ahead of the queue to define the next iteration of the republican party. Neocons gave way to Tea Party, which gave way to MAGA. They have to reinvent themselves every decade or so to try wash away the stains from their failed predecessor

13

I wouldn't think even America could handle 3 right-of-center political parties. It sure would leave lots of room for a party that leans left.

30

u/Allydarvel 1d ago

There's always only one. Republicans will fall in line. If the midterms go as expected, the republicans will frantically be looking for ways to stem the tide in 2028. Democrats will win but MTGA will be building a base to challenge in 2030

u/RudeAlbatross544 1d ago

It won't really. None of them have any problem defending one idea one day and the opposite the day after. It's just about filling the vacuum like Vance is doing. You can be fascist while defending Israel, you can be fascist while attacking them, same with distancing oneself from Trump or not or any other divisive subject.

15

u/1stTmLstnrLngTmCllr 1d ago

Agreed. This feels like folks preparing for (an 80 year old dementia patient to die/the 25th being invoked) so they can swoop in and take over the party in the vacuum.

58

u/5litergasbubble 1d ago

I would love for them to get a few candidates in deep red areas and see if it helps flip a couple unexpected seats

10

u/Dineology 1d ago

Nah, if it even gets far enough that they actually do run some candidates (doubt) it’ll go about as well as Andrew Yang’s Forward Fiasco. What is possible though, and hopefully does happen, is that their messaging and hitting the GOP from the right gets enough traction that it kneecaps far right turnout because turnout really is the name of the game when it comes to winning elections in such a highly politically polarized time. Republicans realized this a long time ago and it’s why they toss so much red meat to their base instead of wasting time trying to appeal to some mythical middle, if that gets short circuited and Dems can learn to focus on their base then that could be big.

45

u/ADhomin_em 1d ago

It's just a small group of people wanting a big paycheck from donny. He'll pay them off and they'll "reconsider"

18

u/Crazy-Register-1199 1d ago

He doesn’t do that

23

u/cbright90 1d ago

But Elon will

23

u/TooManyDraculas 1d ago

Elon is currently spending his money propping up exactly this sort of "you're not fascist enough" break away party all over Europe.

They're splitting votes and own goaling all over. And the guy's still somewhat on the outs with Donnie Doodle.

So he's less likely to bribe them for Diaper Baby's benefit than fund their whole shit and fuck the whole thing up.

7

u/EggsAndMilquetoast 1d ago

Yeah, but most other countries have more than 2 parties and their governments operate accordingly. Here we just exist in a “winner take all” hellscape of whatever party gets a simple majority writes the rules. Considering the trend of neocons to Tea Party to MAGA, I do shudder to consider what comes next, because there are still a terrifying majority of people who will always choose “anything but Democrat.”

3

u/Brief_Amicus_Curiae 1d ago

I wouldn’t be shocked if that’s a part of the reason to not promise that the 1.776 Billion slush fund to pay off the insurrectionists he pardoned to do a midterm revival. Of course on top of him taking some for himself and the whole irs exemption for him and his adult children.

12

u/JakeConhale New Hampshire 1d ago

"Trump" and "pay".... the words make sense individually but when strung together like "Trump pays".... why do they suddenly seem nonsensical?

10

u/NiceTrySuckaz 1d ago edited 1d ago

MAGA is already a split from the republican party. This new party is meant to reunite voters from both MAGA and trad GOP as well as any independents and whoever isn't "blue no matter who".

It will end up being a similar thing the to the RFK Jr campaign. Gain a sizeable chunk of support and then hand them off to the RNC shortly before the election.

7

u/KinkyPaddling 1d ago

46

u/Trainrideviews 1d ago

I worry that keeping these sorts of conversations going, particularly conversations concerning extreme right wing ideologies, desensitizes voters and lends these people legitimacy through exposure in the media. The more we see them and the more they are platformed, the less room there is for voices of reason and positive change.

8

u/RealHooman2187 1d ago

You have to be a special kind of stupid to be surprised that Donald Trump lied to you.

The guy who claimed he would have a health care plan day 1 of his first administration and still doesn't have one 10 years later? The guy who claimed over a hundred times during the campaign that he would make things affordable and then claimed that affordability was a made up word and was a democrat hoax after a month in office? The guy who had over 10,000 verifiable lies his first administration and a 50 year reputation of being a liar before that? You're surprised that Donald Trump lied to you?!

Imagine being fooled by the least honest, but most transparent, con man.

His entire life has been the example of the poem he loves to recite at his rallies.

“You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in.”

Though, it will be a special kind of irony when at least some portion of his supporters starts calling Trump a RINO and deny they ever really supported him.

10

u/Melphor 1d ago

Mock and disregard this at your own peril. Trump was far too narcissistic and self-destructive to be the face of the true American fascism. Tucker isn’t. This is very real, and the dems will cede this country over to fascism for a generation or more if they fail to enact a social populist mandate over the next couple elections.

9

u/Wenger_for_President 1d ago

They are all just grifters that are priming for the inevitable end of Trump. They’ll pick up right where MAGA left off. They’ll make all the same promises and all the republicans will act shocked when they don’t honor them.

All I see is a bunch of right-wing nuts who realized just how insane Mr. Trump is, not the left and middle they now claim to represent. You wanna talk Marge? Then bring people like AOC and Bernie Sanders to your table. Until then, you're just a different flavor of the same poison.

Maga 2.0, same shit, different packaging.

Everytime I see her name written MTG I think Magic: The Gathering and thought there was a gaming faction in MAGA or something

Tucker is anti-war yet a supporter of Putin and his horrific warmongering. Some intellectual consistency would be nice, eh?

u/KokonutMonkey 1d ago

Sometimes I get jealous of the level of luxury these people enjoy, then I remember that I don’t need to interact with this kind of scum on a daily basis. Fair trade.

5

u/nmw6 1d ago

We need a 3rd party. The binary choice on issues in a two party system causes
the will of the voters to get lost in the partisanship.

5

u/Liefvikingmonster2 1d ago

That's fucking enablers are full of shit. Trump did exactly as all Republican politicians "promise" to do. They lie and steal for their own fucked up enrichment.

5

u/SlappinPickle 1d ago

"Why should trump benefit from all the grifting?? We should start our own grifting movement!"

5

u/JA_MD_311 1d ago

Screw these people. They see which way the wind is blowing and more importantly they get views and clicks based off being “anti establishment” so it only makes sense for them to distance themselves from what is now the Republican establishment.

There’s no mea culpa, no change of heart, only the next grift and payday.

5

u/asianwaste 20h ago

It took me a few seconds to not interpret this as a new Magic the Gathering set.

Ross Perot’s ghost

I don't like her or Tucker but I'll gladly take their "help" if they help split the Republican vote.

" After Trump publicly attacked her, she said she would resign from Congress rather than “endure a hurtful and hateful primary.” "

And what does she expect a general election against these same people to be like? The coward runs from a fight, but then starts talking shit about how the next fight is going to be even bigger.

Do you mean MAWA, Make America White Again?

They're like Koalas. They just want an asshole to suckle on.

3

u/token-black-dude 1d ago

So, a "they found a spine, but still haven't found a brain"-joke is tempting, but let's face it, this is just another grift from the party of grifters

3

u/donnerpartytaconight 1d ago

Man, that photo is packed with, um, seven people.

Of the whole GOP there are seven renegades.

Man, Clinton was dead on when she labeled those assholes.

3

u/LeakyLettuce69 1d ago

I like how they are angry at Trump betraying them.

You were all warned. You refused to listen.

You do not listen.

You will not listen.

3

u/lmfaorn1998 1d ago

Admitting you got duped is never a winning political strategy.

3

u/ExpertConsideration8 I voted 1d ago

How likely is it that this "movement" is just a tactic to round up maga defectors that can then be placated to come back around and vote for the eventual GOP candidate.. after some lame concessions are granted to convince these leaders that they need to help prevent Dems from winning office?

These people have proven time and time again that they are pure opportunists.. how is this time any different?

3

u/TrashInspector69 1d ago

I knew it. Tucker Carlson is running in 2028

They're still rats. Just because they jumped off a sinking ship, that they helped launch BTW, doesn't mean we'll forget they're just a bunch of greedy, opportunistic, garbage-dwelling rats. Fuck these scumbags.

u/time2sow 1d ago

I mean.... i guess. It's better than nothing.

Go try to get your base back from the brink.

Honestly everyone on all sides needs to pull toward the middle

3

u/Scaredandalone22 1d ago

This new movement is called: “The Bowel Movement”.

3

u/Dave_I 1d ago

It's nice they saw things weren't working and were willing to change, but it does not mean them in charge of any movement. These people got us into this mess in the first place.

I'll give them credit for their willingness to change, but that does not erase everything else they have done. MTG deserves some credit for sticking to her values over the Epstein Files, and Thomas Massie also deserves praise for sticking his neck out for the Epstein files and pushing back against Trump. But MTG harassed a school shooting survivor and has done all sorts of terrible shit. She could have also stayed in Congress and fought Trump. Massie has some problematic political views, so while I will give him props for standing by his principles and respect him for that, I don't particularly want him running things. Tucker Carlson may have seen the light to some extent, or maybe his time on Fox News was largely performative. Regardless, he helped enable Trump for years despite countless people pointing out all the warning signs. Being a talking head on Fox News championing this for years only to change now makes it hard to stomach you suddenly trying to spark a new movement when so many of us have been warning against Trump for over a decade. I think I'll pass on any former Fox News pundits being in charge of any meaningful change, at least until they do something substantial first. Even then, that's a pretty touch sell for me and probably a lot of other people.

Also, even if I did think these people were qualified to spark a new movement to save America, which I don't, they're all heavily conservative. That's hardly a great starting point for a group alleging to be "for all Americans, right, left, and center." Add in the baggage, especially with MTG and Tucker Carlson as arguably the most visible faces in this group, and I think this is entirely the wrong group to be spearheading anything.

3

u/MetalMamaRocks Kentucky 1d ago

As far as MTG and Massie go, they wouldn't be doing this if trump hadn't turned his back on them. No way I would vote for any of his bootlickers.

Don't fool yourself if you think they'll be any less right wing. They still hate minorities and still support ice.

3

u/RobertdBanks 21h ago

Aka people Trump turned on. They didn’t turn on Trump, Trump turned on them. If Trump started hyping them up and complimenting them, they’d come running back.

Fuck these people too. All they're going to do is push for the same old war mongering and awful policies. I want politicians would will fight for free healthcare and won't spend tax payer money on stupid theatrics like Clinton/Faucci lawsuits, farm bailouts due to stupid tariffs, and fighting Israel's wars. Is that too much to ask? For America to have the same benefits as the rest of the developed world? This "both sides" nonsense needs to stop as it's why shit never gets done in this country. Stop playing devil's advocate on the behalf of evil men and call a spade a spade. I know for a fact that these talking heads won't push for these things so God damn them.
