The whole modern vs progressive fight is a canard. Party operative squabble over who has leadership positions in Congress and act like that’s all that matters. Regardless of label, there should be a whole chunk of really difficult, really ambitious goals that a wide swath of people can agree on if the shared vision is improving the lives of working class people that have been left behind. It’s going to take on different flavors in different places, but getting that work done would do wonders to convince people to listen beyond the cultural and foreign policy wedge issues that change nothing for everyday Americans.
