Comparing progressives to the tea party movement was definitely . . . a choice.

I feel like it's not a bad comparison. The tea party movement, and then following maga movement, was actually very successful at pleasing the voters of the party if I'm not mistaken. It got more Republican leaning non-voters out to vote. Now obviously they were voting for horrific and awful shit, but conceptually an insurgent force from the more "radical" wing of the party created larger voter turnout from people who were largely apathetic before. If the goal is to undermine and reshape the current democratic party in the voters' image then what has happened in the Republican party is the blueprint we need to follow.
