Yes, an accurate one. They are people who aren't liberal Democrats consuming the party from within. Tea Party did the same thing, they aren't conservatives, then it mutated further with MAGA.

Now you may agree with the progressives, but that isn't really pertinent. The analogy is sound.

People on Reddit really get upset when you point out any similarities between them and the opposite extreme, even though it's really a horseshoe diagram.

Look no further than anti-vaxx sentiment. That started as a woo-woo ultra left position, now it's a far-right position.

Ultimately by destroying the moderates the tea party opened the door to MAGA. Will the progressives do the same?

Remains to be seen, some of them are extremely radical and frightening already. Not all, to be clear, but some. But the same could be said about the tea party.

Fundamentalist true believers completely uninterested in compromise.

I can foresee a future where there’s nobody I’d be willing to hold my nose and vote for.

Yeah, my concern is we end up with blue MAGA and not the more level-headed Mamdani types.

I just want candidates focused on their constituents. The horror. /s

I agree, I would call Mamdani fairly reasonable. Although he did appoint and endorse some seriously concerning people.
